By the power of your Holy Spirit free us from the prison of our disobedience. Help us to love as you have loved us that our lives may testify to your abounding grace though Jesus Christ. SERMON The Canaanite Woman * HYMN #628 We Cannot Measure How You Heal We cannot measure how you heal The pain that will not go away, or answer every sufferer s prayer, the guilt that clings from things long past, yet we believe your grace responds the fear of what the future holds, where faith and doubt unite to care. are present as if meant to last. Your hands, though bloodied on the cross, But present too is love which tends survive to hold and heal and warn, the hurt we never hoped to find, to carry all through death to life the private agonies inside, and cradle children yet unborn. the memories that haunt the mind. So some have come who need your help and some have come to make amends, as hands which shaped and saved the world are present in the touch of friends. Lord, let your Spirit meet us here to mend the body, mind and soul, to disentangle peace from pain, and make your broken people whole. * AFFIRMATION OF FAITH: APOSTLES CREED (unison) I believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended to the dead. St. John s Preschool Spaghetti Feed The preschool is having their annual Spaghetti Feed on Thursday October 19 th, from 5:00 7:00 pm, in the Social Hall. We are reaching out to local businesses, preschool families and church members to help with this fundraiser. We are seeking sponsorships or donations for our raffle. All businesses or individuals who contribute will be recognized at the event and in our November newsletter. Proceeds from this event will be used to purchase items for our Toddler Option program which is starting in November for 18-36 month toddlers.
