LSVMS Mass in Honor of the Holy Spirit June 20, 2014 INTRODUCTION: Today we are celebrating the Mass in honor of the Holy Spirit. We thank the Lord for giving us another year of grace as we are starting the school year 2005-2006. He is calling us to be true Christians and thus, to be the Light of the world, we beg Him to give us the following gifts: SPIRIT OF KNOWLEDGE SPIRIT OF UNDERSTANDING SPIRIT OF FORTITUDE SPIRIT OF WISDOM SPIRIT OF PIETY SPIRIT OF COUNSEL SPIRIT OF HOLY FEAR OF THE LORD (As they are called, each student will go in front of the altar forming one line facing the audience. As soon as the last student reaches the altar and faces the audience, each one will place the lighted candles in their proper places.) COMMENTATOR : Please rise as we begin our celebration. ENTRANCE HYMN: COME HOLY SPIRIT Refrain: Come Holy Spirit take hold of my life Sign me with your Holy love Give me your gifts, confirm me in faith, Spirit come. 1. Spirit of wisdom, enlighten my mind Make me see things as they are Spirit of wisdom, enlighten my words Let my mouth speak words of truth. (Ref.) 2. Spirit of knowledge, lead me to light Open my eyes to your love Believe in me, strengthen me, deepen my faith Let me reflect you to all. (Ref.) INTRODUCTORY RITE : In the name of. : : The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. : And also with you.

PENITENTIAL RITE: : Coming together as God s family, with confidence, let us ask our Father s forgiveness for He is full of gentleness and compassion. Lord Jesus, You came to teach us how to live as Sons of the Father, Lord have mercy : Lord have mercy. : You wish to continue Your work of love, service and salvation through us, Christ have mercy. : Christ have mercy : You gave us all You have that we may share them with our brothers and sisters, Lord have mercy : Lord have mercy. : May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life. : OPENING PRAYER: : Let us pray. God our Father, pour out the gifts of your Holy Spirit on the world. You sent the Spirit on your Church to begin the teaching of the Gospel: now let the Spirit continue to work in the world through the hearts of all who believe. We ask this through Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. : COMMENTATOR: Please be seated and listen to the word of God.

LITURGY OF THE WORD FIRST READING: 1 Cor. 12:3-7, 12-13 A reading from the first letter of Paul to the Corinthians. No one can say: Jesus is Lord except in the Holy Spirit. There are different gifts but the same Spirit; there are different ministries but the same Lord; there are different works but the same God who accomplishes all of them in everyone. To each person the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. The body is one and has many members but all the members, many though they are, are one body; and so it is with Christ. It was in one Spirit that all of us, whether Jew or Greek, slave or free, were baptized into one body. All of us have been given to drink of the one Spirit. The word of the Lord. : Thanks be to God. RESPONSORIAL PSALM: RESPONSE: Send forth your Spirit O Lord That the face of the earth be renewed. 1. O my soul, arise and bless the Lord God O Lord in majesty Enrobed with power and eternal might. (Response) 2. Like the winds your angels fly before you As fire and flaming light Your ministers stand before your throne. (Response) 3. For the earth you fixed on its foundations Indeed it shall stand firm And not be moved for unending years. (Response) 4. Praise to God, the Father, Son and Spirit To God who gives us life Our thanks return now and evermore. (Response) COMMENTATOR : Please rise to honor the Gospel. ELUIA: (sung) : The Lord be with you. And also with you.

GOSPEL: Matthew 28:16-20 A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew. The eleven disciples went to the hill in Galilee where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw Him they worshipped Him, even though some of them doubted. Jesus drew near and said to them, I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Go, then to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. COMMENTATOR : Please be seated. HOMILY PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL : Let us pray to the Father and ask the Holy Spirit for the graces of His abiding presence with us throughout this school year. FATHER OF LOVE, HEAR OUR PRAYER. 1. For our Holy Father, Pope Benedict VIII, all the bishops and priests especially in our Diocese and all their collaborators that they may all be guided by the Holy Spirit. Let us pray to the Lord. 2. For the leaders of our country, that they may set good examples in honesty, dedicated service and hard work. Let us pray to the Lord. 3. For all the students and pupils for this school year, that they may really come to know and meet Jesus in their teachers and their classmates. Let us pray to the Lord. 4. For the poor, the sick and all victims of different calamities, that they may not lose courage and hope in the loving providence of God. Let us pray to the Lord. : Heavenly Father, we thank You for listening to our petitions. We trust that you will grant us these graces, if they be for our good and for Your greater honor and glory. We ask these through Christ, our Lord.

OFFERTORY COMMENTATOR: Please be seated for the offertory. Offertory Song : Pray brethren that our sacrifice may be acceptable to God the Father Almighty. May the Lord accept this sacrifice in Your hands, for the praise and glory of His name, for our good and the good of all His church. Commentator : Please rise. LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS : Father, look with kindness on the gifts we bring to your altar. May we worship you in spirit and truth: give us the humility and faith to make our offering pleasing to you. We ask this through Christ our Lord. EUCHARISTIC PRAYER : The Lord be with you. : : And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give Him thanks and praise.

: LEONIDES S. VIRATA MEMORIAL SCHOOL Holy ( sung ) COMMENTATOR : Please kneel. Father, all -powerful and ever living God, we do well always and everywhere to give you thanks. You give your gifts of grace for every time and season as you guide the Church in the marvelous ways of your providence. You give us your Holy Spirit to help us always by His power, so that with loving trust we may turn to you in all our troubles, and give you thanks in all our joys, through Jesus Christ our Lord. In our joy we sing to your glory with all the choirs of angels: : Lord You are holy indeed and all creation rightly gives You praise. All life, all holiness comes from You through Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, by the power of the Holy Spirit. From age to age You gather a people to Yourself, so that from east to west a perfect offering may be made to the glory of Your name. And so Father, we bring You these gifts. We ask You to make them holy by the power of the Holy Spirit, that they may become the body and blood of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ at whose command we celebrate this Eucharist. On the night He was betrayed, He took the bread and gave You thanks and praise. He broke the bread, gave it to His disciples and said: Take this all of you and eat it: this is My body which will be given up for You. When the supper was ended, He took the cup. Again He gave You thanks and praise, gave the cup to His disciples and said: take this all of you and drink from it. This is the cup of My blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all men so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.

COMMENTATOR : Please rise. Let us proclaim the mystery of our faith. : Christ has died. Christ has risen. Christ will come again. : Father, calling to mind the death of Your Son endured for our salvation. His glorious resurrection and ascension into heaven and ready to greet Him when He comes again, we offer You this in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice. Look with favor in your church s offering, and see the Victim whose death has reconciled us to Yourself. Grant that we, who are nourished by His body and blood, may be filled with His Holy Spirit, and become one body and one spirit in Christ. May He make us an everlasting gift to You and enable us to share in the inheritance of Your saints, with Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, with the apostles, the martyrs and all Your saints, on whose constant intercession we relay for help. Lord, may this sacrifice, which has made our peace with You, advance the peace and salvation of all the world. Strengthen in faith and love Your pilgrim church on earth, your servant, Pope Francis, our bishop Pedro Arigo, and all the bishops with the clergy and the entire people Your Son has gained for You. Father hear the prayers of the family you have gathered here before You. In mercy and love unite all Your children wherever they may be. Welcome into Your kingdom our departed brothers and sisters, and all who have left this world in Your friendship. We hope to enjoy forever the vision of Your glory, through Christ our Lord, from whom all good things come. Through Him, in Him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is Yours, almighty Father, forever and ever.

:GREAT AMEN (sung) : Jesus taught us to call God our Father, and so we have the courage to sing. :Lord s Prayer (sung) : Deliver us Lord from every evil and grant us peace in our days. In Your mercy keep us free from sin and protect us from all anxiety as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Sapagkat. : Lord Jesus Christ, You said to Your apostles: I leave you peace, My peace I give you. Look not on our sins but on the faith of Your church. Grant us the peace and unity of Your kingdom, where You live forever and ever. : The peace of the Lord be with you. : And also with you. : Let us offer each other a sign of peace. Lamb of God. : COMMENTATOR : Please kneel. : This is Jesus, the Lamb of God, who wills us to grow and develop into Christians who are responsible to and for others, how blessed are we whom He has called to His banquet. Lord, I am not worthy to receive You, but only say a word and I shall be healed. COMMUNION PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

: : Let us pray. Lord our God, you renew us with food from heaven; fill our hearts with the gentle love of your Spirit. May the gifts we have received in this life lead us to the gifts of eternal joy. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ. COMMENTATOR : Please rise : The Lord be with you. And also with you. : May Almighty God bless you.. : : The mass is over, go in peace to love and serve the Lord. : Thanks be to God. FINAL HYMN: WE ARE ONE IN THE SPIRIT 1. We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord (2x) And we pray that all unity may one day be restored. Refrain: And they ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love Yes, they ll know we are Christians by our love. 2. We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand (2x) And together we ll spread the news that God is in our land. (Ref.)
