Executive Summary Marketplace Leaders was founded in 1994 after Os Hillman, a former advertising agency owner for 12 years, went through a 7-year personal crisis that led to the birthing of Marketplace Leaders. Os began to realize that many men and women in the workplace struggle to integrate their faith life into their work life. He also realized that the failure to do this was leaving a vacuum in the culture allowing anti-god philosophies to undermine our Christian cultural foundations. He committed to sharing what he had learned from his adversity experiences. This focus led to Os writing 15 books and speaking/training in 25 countries around the world. Os became a recognized leader and authority in the faith at work movement globally, appearing on CNBC, ABC, the New York Times and the LA Times. One leader cited Os as arguably the most knowledgeable leader on the topic of faith in work in the world today. Os realized that culture is often shaped by leaders who operate at the upper levels in business, government, media, arts and entertainment, education, government, and religion and that it only took a small portion of 3-5% of leadership to impact the culture. Os decided that this concept must be part of the Marketplace Leaders strategy and subsequently incorporated it into the ministry. Our Vision Transform leaders to transform culture. The 3 Primary Goals of Marketplace Leaders is to: 1. Raise awareness of the need to integrate faith and work in the lives of Christian workplace believers. 2. Identify, attract and train change agents for restoring biblical foundations within our nation and world. 2
3. Mobilize change agents to transform society to reflect Christian principles and values. The Problem For the last 50 years America has been moving away from the spiritual foundations that made it a great nation. A Pew Research report in May of 2015 revealed a drop by 7% of those who claim Christianity as their faith, and our research shows that our nation is in jeopardy of losing its leadership position in the world because of a fractured spiritual foundation. 84% of Christian 18-29-year olds admit that they have no idea how the Bible applies to their field or professional interests. proverbial frog in the kettle over the last 50 years, not realizing our deteriorating values that are moving us away from our spiritual foundations as a nation. Strategy Marketplace Leaders will impact culture by engaging and equipping leaders for personal and vocational transformation through teaching and training tools serving our three core audiences. Marketplace Leaders uses the Today God Is First (TGIF) devotional as its core product for establishing relationships and promoting our overall goals. Our initial engagement process with our audiences often involve the reading of TGIF Today God Is First, a daily email devotional written by our founder, Os Hillman that is read in 104 countries by 140,000 people daily. This devotional has been published since 2000 and is our core ministry product that drives all other 4
activity. In August of 2015 Bible Gateway, which is the largest online Bible in the world that has 20 million hits per month has signed an agreement to make available TGIF to their entire audience. Additionally, YouVersion Bible App has agreed to carry our devotional. It has 170 million users. We have discovered that if readership of TGIF grows each of the 3 training opportunities will grow and our donor base will grow. So, we are employing a strategy to increase readership from 140,000 daily readership to 1,000, 000 and greater readership on Facebook by repurposing content in a variety of ways including Email newsletters and teaching TGIF 90 second Radio Minutes Faith, Work and Culture 24 minute weekly radio show. Our Measurable Goals and Tactics What will define our success. Goal #1 MPL will raise awareness of the need to integrate faith and work in the lives of Christian workplace believers. Our radio advisors tell us it takes 3 years to be in the market to really evaluate success. Stations want to know you are going to have some staying power before that give you greater exposure. Increase Os Hillman s speaking engagements by 25% Increase the number of new TGIF subscribers/readers from 140,000 to 1,000,000 subscribers, and grow the current Facebook Likes from 61,000 to 1,000,000. Additionally, TGIF has been translated into Spanish and we have representation to translate all of our books in other languages through an international 6
rights publishing group. Secure 300 radio stations to air TGIF Radio Minutes and 30 minutes show within a 36-month period. This will be aired through the top US markets and internet radio to serve our international audience. See our detailed radio strategy plan in Addendum 1in the expanded strategic plan. Host online or in person Change Agent courses with goal of 600 people attending over a 36-month period. Grow our current TGIF Ad sponsorship program to an annual revenue stream of $20,000 within a 36-month period. Marketplace Leaders has entered a new partnership with two of the largest online Bible Study tools and Bible Apps that have agreed to carry the TGIF devotional. YouVersion Bible app that goes to 130 million users and Bible Gateway, the largest online Bible resource that has 20 million visitors a month. Goal #2 MPL will identify, attract, train, and mobilize change agents for restoring biblical foundations in our nation/world. 1. MPL will host 10 Change Agent workshops across the nation each year over a 36-month period. 2. Marketplace Leaders will continue to grow our immense resource catalog by developing additional books, audios, and videos for identifying and equipping change agents. MPL also intends to publish two new books during a 36-month period, specifically 6 Stages of a Call from God (working title) in 2016. This title is in final editing stage. Additionally, a TGIF WorkLife Study Bible will be published by end of 2018. We have thoroughly researched the budget to publish both of these projects. They are outlined in our budget. 7
3. Marketplace Leaders will revise its website and professionalize how it interacts with those we seek to serve. 4. Marketplace Leaders will engage and mobilize change agents through an international Faith, Work and Culture Conference, potentially scheduled for 700 attendees in the fall of 2017. Goal #3 Mobilize change agents to transform society to reflect Christian principles and values 1. MPL will establish 100 TGIF Groups and 10 Area Directors across the nation and around the world within a 24-month period. Financials We seek to fund a 3-year plan for $2.47 million with a contribution from Marketplace Leaders of $2.2 million over that time through existing donors and program services. A more detailed and comprehensive 3-year plan is available that outlines our strategy and budget to accomplish our goals. Marketplace Leaders is positioned to raise up leadership in America that can make a difference in the world to shift the current direction that is taking our nation down an anti-god path that will have severe consequences for our children if we do not do something.
