OPENING HYMN : CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION 571 God Loved the World So That He Gave (Please rise for the final verse) In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Our help is in the name of the Lord. Who made heaven and earth. If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness; therefore You are feared. Since we are gathered to hear God s Word, call upon Him in prayer and praise, and receive the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ in the fellowship of this altar, let us first consider our unworthiness and confess before God and one another that we have sinned in thought, word, and deed, and that we cannot free ourselves from our sinful condition. Together as His people let us take refuge in the infinite mercy of God, our heavenly Father, seeking His grace for the sake of Christ, and saying: God be merciful to me, a sinner. Let us kneel and confess our sins to God our Father. Please rise THE INTROIT: Almighty God, have mercy upon us, forgive us our sins, and lead us to everlasting life. Almighty God, merciful Father, in Holy Baptism You declared us to be Your children and gathered us into Your one, Holy Church, in which You daily and richly forgive us our sins and grant us new life through Your Spirit. Be in our midst, enliven our faith, and graciously receive our prayer and praise; through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. (We read together) The Lord is the strength of His people; He is the saving refuge of His anointed. To You, O Lord, I call; my Rock, be not deaf to me, lest, if You be silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit. Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy, when I cry to You for help, when I lift up my hands toward Your most holy sanctuary. Blessed be the Lord! For He has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to Him. KYRIE: (Sung LSB Page 204) Lord have mercy; Christ have mercy; Lord have mercy. GLORIA IN EXCELSIS: Glory to God in the Highest (Sung LSB Page 204) SALUTATION: To God on high be glory And peace to all the earth: Goodwill from God in heaven Proclaimed at Jesus birth! We praise and bless You, Father; Your holy name, we sing Our thanks for Your great glory, Lord God, our heav nly King. To You, O sole begotten, the Father s Son, we pray; O Lamb of God, our Savior, You take our sins away. Have mercy on us, Jesus; Receive our heartfelt cry, Where You in pow r are seated, at God s right hand on high. For You alone are holy; You only are the Lord. Forever and forever, Be worshipped and adored; You with the Holy Spirit, alone are Lord Most High, In God the Father s glory. Amen! our glad reply. The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray. 2

THE COLLECT: Please be seated. Almighty and everlasting Father, You give Your children many blessings even though we are undeserving. In every trial and temptation grant us steadfast confidence in Your loving-kindness and mercy; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. OLD TESTAMENT READING: Isaiah 56:1, 6-8 1 This is what the LORD says: Keep justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand and my righteousness will soon be revealed. 6 And the foreigners who join themselves to the LORD, to minister to him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it, and holds fast my covenant, 7 these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples. 8 The Lord GOD, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, declares, I will gather yet others to him besides those already gathered. This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. EPISTLE: Romans 11: 1-2a, 13-15, 28-32 Please rise for the Alleluia and Verse I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. 13 Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry 14 in order somehow to make my fellow Jews jealous, and thus save some of them. 15 For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead? 28 As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. 29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. 30 For just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, 31 so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now receive mercy. 32 For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all. This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. THE ALLELUIA AND VERSE: (Sung LSB Page 205) Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, These things are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. HOLY GOSPEL: Matthew 15: 21-28 The Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew the 15th chapter beginning at verse 21. Glory to you, O Lord. 21 And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon. 23 But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, Send her away, for she is crying out after us. 24 He answered, I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 25 But she came and knelt before him, saying, Lord, help me. 26 And he answered, It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs. 27 She said, Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table. 28 Then Jesus answered her, O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire. And her daughter was healed instantly. This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to You, O Christ. 3

THE APOSTLES CREED: (we confess together) I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. SERMON HYMN: SERMON PRAYERS OF THE CHURCH Please be seated THE OFFERING: 779 Come, My Soul, with Every Care We rise as the offerings are brought forward to the altar. THE COMMUNION LITURGY The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God It is right to give Him thanks and praise. It is truly good, right, and salutary that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to You, O Lord, holy Father, almighty and everlasting God, for the countless blessings You so freely bestow on us and all creation. Above all, we give thanks for Your boundless love shown to us when You sent Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into our flesh and laid on Him our sin, giving Him into death that we might not die eternally. Because He is now risen from the dead and lives and reigns to all eternity, all who believe in Him will overcome sin and death and will rise again to new life. Therefore with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven we laud and magnify Your glorious name, evermore praising You and saying: SANCTUS: Holy, Holy, Holy (Sung LSB Page 208) Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of Sabaoth adored; Heaven and earth with full acclaim shout the glory of Your name. Sing hosanna in the highest, sing hosanna to the Lord; Truly blest is He who comes in the name of the Lord. PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING LORD S PRAYER Blessed are You, O Lord our God, King of all creation, for You have had mercy on us and given Your only-begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. In Your righteous judgment You condemned the sin of Adam and Eve, who ate the forbidden fruit, and You justly barred them and all their children from the tree of life. Yet, in Your great mercy, You promised salvation by a second Adam, Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, and made His cross a life-giving tree for all who trust in Him. We give You thanks for the redemption You have prepared for us through Jesus Christ. Grant us Your Holy Spirit that we may faithfully eat and drink of the fruits of His cross and receive the blessings of forgiveness, life and salvation that come to us in His body and blood. 4

THE WORDS OF OUR LORD PAX DOMINI Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to the disciples and said: Take, eat; this is My body, which is given for you. This do in remembrance of Me. In the same way also He took the cup after supper, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them saying, "Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me. The peace of the Lord be with you always. AGNUS DEI Lamb of God (Sung LSB Page 210) 1. O Jesus Christ, true Lamb of God, 2. O Jesus Christ, true Lamb of God, You take the sin of the world away; You take the sin of the world away O Jesus Christ, true Lamb of God, Have mercy on us, Jesus Christ, Have mercy on us, Lord, we pray. And grant us peace, O Lord, we pray. DISTRIBUTION: (Please be seated) THE DISTRIBUTION HYMNS 570 Just as I Am, without One Plea 783 Take My Life and Let It Be 794 The Lord, My God, Be Praised (Please remain seated for the final verse) 790 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty NUNC DIMITTIS: Song of Simeon (Sung LSB Page 211) POST-COMMUNION COLLECT BENEDICTION HYMN: 1. All glory to the Father, Depart in heav nly peace, All glory to the Son, For I have seen the glory All glory to the Spirit, Of Your redeeming grace: Forever Three in One; A light to lead the Gentiles For as in the beginning, Unto Your holy hill, Is now, shall ever be, The glory of Your people, God s triune name resounding, Your chosen Israel. Through all eternity. Let us pray. We give thanks to You, almighty God, that You have refreshed us through this salutary gift, and we implore You that of Your mercy You would strengthen us through the same in faith toward You and in fervent love toward one another; through Jesus Christ Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Let us bless the Lord. Thanks be to God. The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you.
