Forgive us for listening too intently to all the voices of the world that clamor for our attention. Make us bold to speak up for the downtrodden, the oppressed and those captive to their fears. O God, who sustains the weak, open our hearts to see each other as you see us. Open our ears to hear your voice and give us Christlike steadfastness in living our faith, serving others and bringing rest to the weary. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. *WORDS OF ASSURANCE (responsive) Let us rejoice together with the good news of God s forgiveness. FPC-SSP reserves the right to use said photos or video in church publications, including, but not limited to, bulletins, newsletters, the church website, and social media sites. If you prefer not to appear in these photos or video, please talk to one of the ushers. If you have a prayer request, please use the yellow request cards in the pews. Give the card to an usher before worship or during the first hymn so it can be included in our prayers of the people today and passed on to the prayer chain as well. Children of all ages are welcome in our worship service. We also have professional childcare available for infants and children up to 5 years. The nursery is located at the top of the stairs in the upper level of the Education wing and is always available on those days your child may be restless. Scripture: Luke 24: 1-12 Theme: Festival of the Resurrection Today starts Holy Week. In the Christian year, it is the week immediately before Easter. It is also the last week of Lent, and includes Palm Sunday, Holy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. We will celebrate Holy Week with three of these five traditions. See the back of today s bulletin for dates, times and more information about each of these events, and join us in these observances. You may have noticed that we are doing Easter a bit different this year with two completely different Easter morning worship experiences. Next Sunday at 7:30 a.m. we will gather in the South Commons for a shortened informal worship and communion service, followed by a continental breakfast. At 10 a.m. we will gather in the Sanctuary for a traditional Easter celebration with bells and the Festival Choir, and fellowship time following the worship service. All are welcome to join us at one or both of these worship services. Today is SCRIP Sunday! Cards ordered today will be delivered the next Sunday. Stop by the table in the Commons to make your purchase and help raise funds for our church. Food security is access by all people at all times to enough food for an active, healthy life. Food insecurity means that consistent access to adequate food is limited by a lack of money and other resources at times during the year. 1 in 10 Minnesotans, or more than 500,000 state residents, are food insecure on a regular basis. This is more people than attended Minnesota Vikings home games Next Sunday, March 27 Music: Festival Choir, Jubilation Ringers, Bells of Praise Easter, No Education Classes Announcements during the 2015 regular season. By donating food and cash to our Pack the P food drive, we can help alleviate some of those worries for people here in our neighborhood through our local food shelf at Neighbors Inc. If you d rather skip the grocery store, write a check for $10 (or more) and we ll do the shopping for you. Your donation of cash today will show up as food added to the display next week, along with any other food donations brought. Reminder: No adult education or Sunday school classes next Sunday. All will resume on April 3. Have you heard about bees in the news recently and wondered how you can help these pollinators? Then join us for Adult Ed on Sunday, April 3, for Bees, Our Precious Pollinators JoAnne Sabin, an experienced beekeeper and beekeeping instructor, will share many insights about bees, including why they are so important to us, how they pollinate, what other creatures pollinate, the challenges pollinators face in today's world, and what people can do to help them survive. Mark your calendars! 17-voice InVocation singers will return to FPC-SSP on Saturday, April 9 at 7 pm to present a concert supporting Beacon Interfaith Housing Initiative, a collaborative of congregations ending homelessness through housing, shelter, and advocacy. Bring your friends, parents, and kids. Enjoy the music, and help end homelessness!
