HOW TO MAKE A NOMINATION To nominate an individual, the following information should be provided in writing: Who is nominated (self-nomination is not acceptable) For which award is the nomination Justification for nomination Supporting documentation demonstrating nominee s eligibility Name and affiliations of a primary and secondary sponsor who are both members of the ISH Confirmation that the nominee has agreed to be nominated A copy of the nominee's CV Nominations will only be accepted from ISH members (with the exception of the ISH Paul Korner and ISH Honorary Fellow Awards) Award recipients will be required to accept awards in person during the ISH Biennial Scientific Meeting (Beijing, China - 20 th to 23 rd September 2018). ISH Franz Volhard Award and Lectureship for Outstanding Research This award and lectureship was endowed by Farbwerke Hoechst in 1972 to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Franz Volhard. The award shall be made biennially to a person or persons who, in the opinion of the Awards Committee of the ISH, shall have initiated in the field of hypertension or in a related discipline, a concept which remains of current interest. The recipient shall be invited to deliver to the ISH a lecture on the topic for which the award is bestowed. Award nominations must clearly state the concept that the nominee has initiated which remains of current interest, and provide supporting evidence. ISH Developing World Award This award is for a researcher in the developing world* who has done outstanding work in the region. (*BASED ON THE RESOURCE POOR COUNTRIES, ZONES AND TERRITORIES DEFINED BY HINARI) The nomination should include full curriculum vitae, a short resume of his/her research, no more than 5 publications, which the applicant considers as important publications and a letter of support from the applicant's mentor. The awardee will be expected to submit an abstract of his/her research for the ISH Scientific meeting. Eligibility: Must be a member of the ISH. Liu 2002 Yakoob Seedat (ISH 2014 Developing World Award Recipient) ISH Award of Excellence for Research in Cardiovascular Health and Disease in Women The ISH Women in Hypertension Research Committee established this award in 2018 to recognise and encourage research in cardiovascular health and disease in women. This award shall be made biennially to a person who, in the opinion of the ISH Women in Hypertension Research Committee and ISH Awards Committee, has demonstrated a track record of excellent research in the field of cardiovascular health and disease in women and contributed significantly to advancing knowledge in this area. The nomination should include full curriculum vitae, a description of how their research has advanced knowledge in this area (<500 words) and a list of no more than 5 publications, which are considered as important. The Award recipient will receive USD 1,000 and a commemorative plaque that must be collected in person at the ISH Biennial Scientific Meeting (Beijing, China - 20-23 September 2018). Eligibility: The nominator and the nominee must be members of the ISH. Nominations for previous winners of any other senior award are not normally received, but might be considered if there is an outstanding Members of the Council of the ISH, ISH Awards Committee and ISH Women in Hypertension Research Committee are not eligible to be nominated.
ISH Paul Korner Award Supported by the High Blood Pressure Research Foundation This award was endowed by the High Blood Pressure Research Foundation in 2013 to honour the late Paul Korner. Paul Korner was an internationally renowned expert in the field of hypertension with a special interest in the neuroscience of blood pressure. He was a previous recipient of the highest ISH award the Franz Volhard Award and Lectureship for Outstanding Research in 1982. He was awarded a Distinguished Membership of the ISH in 2012. Paul was also the Founding Secretary of the High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia. Through his mentorship, supervision and research activities he fostered the careers of many great clinicians and scientists. The award shall be presented biennially (and from 2014), on the recommendation of the ISH Awards Committee to a person who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to research on Hypertension in the broad field of Neuroscience. The award shall be presented biennially, on the recommendation of the ISH Awards Committee to a person, persons or institution responsible for distinguished work relating to the aetiology, epidemiology, pathology or treatment of high blood pressure. The achievements of the recipient should reflect distinguished contributions in research, teaching or clinical activities relating to the aetiology, epidemiology, pathology or treatment of high blood pressure and successful mentorship of younger colleagues. ISH Mid-Career Award for Women Researchers The ISH Women in Hypertension Research Committee established this award in 2018 to recognise, encourage and inspire women in science and medicine in the field of hypertension and related cardiovascular diseases. This award will be given at the ISH Biennial Scientific Meeting to recognise a woman researcher who is in a mid-career position, 35-45 years of age or 10 full years after postgraduate qualifications. The nomination should include full curriculum vitae, a description of how their research in hypertension has advanced knowledge or impacted others (<500 words), no more than 5 publications, which the nominee considers as important publications and a letter of support from the nominee s mentor. The Award must be collected in person at the ISH Biennial Scientific Meeting (Beijing, China - 20 th to 23 rd September 2018). Eligibility: Must be a member of the ISH.
