Summer Office Hours Monday-Thursday 8:00-4:00 pm Friday CLOSED Your Financial Stewardship For the week ended June 7, 2015 A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the great Corpus Christi/Summer Blast celebration last weekend. What a great time. Thank you especially to our many volunteers and leaders who generously gave of themselves so that others could enjoy their day. We were not able to do the Corpus Christi procession outside due to the rain but we were able to have a formal prayer, family consecration and Eucharistic benediction in the church. It was really very nice. The little pig lunch was delicious. About 200 people shared a meal and we filled the commons and the multipurpose room. Beautiful. Next year Corpus Christi falls on Memorial Day weekend so we probably won t have our parish festival that weekend but we can certainly do something to honor the feast, probably something in the Church again. It will be our 60 th anniversary of our parish next year, so maybe we can do something extra special to honor this great occasion. We would be remiss if we failed to recognize Father s Day this weekend. To all our dads who strive to be all that God has asked them to be in the lives of their children, we say thank you. For those who are struggling, we pledge our prayers as a parish. For those who have fallen short, sometimes way short, we pray for their help and healing. For those who have lost their dads, pray for them, and trust that all who have died in Christ are near in the Eucharist. We especially remember the deceased who need our prayers, may God grant them mercy and final healing. For those men who serve in the role of father in the lives of others, thank you for your gift of love and commitment. Fathers are crucial in the family vision of God. Prayer to St. Joseph the Laborer: Blessed St. Joseph, patron of all working people, obtain for me the grace to labor in a spirit of penance for the atonement of my many sins. Help me to be conscientious in my work so that I may give as full a measure as I have received. May I labor in a spirit of thankfulness and joy, ever mindful of all the gifts I have received from God that enable me to perform these tasks. Help me to be ever mindful of the unemployed and those who seek just labor. Permit me to work in peace, patience, and moderation, keeping in mind the account I must one day give of time lost, talents unused, good omitted, and vanity of success, so fatal to the work of God. Glorious St. Joseph, may my labors be all for Jesus, all through Mary, and all after your holy example in life and in death. Amen. June 13 & 14, 2015 PAGE 3 Dear St. Bernard friends, for those of you who attended this past weekend's Parish Celebration, wasn't it a BLAST? Even though this celebration wasn't titled the "Blast", it really was a great time. Once again our parish came together to make something new, truly something special. It was fun. The Knights were happy to help out with Saturday's dinner, and I think our sandwiches were pretty good, but, I must admit, the chili was better. I'm glad we are with a special parish, and glad that we have a wonderful KC Council here to be part of it all. Next year, I'll bet our celebration will be even better! Barb and I have been married for 44 years, we have 2 children both graduates of St. Bernard and 4 grandchildren. We are long time members of St. Bernard Parish. I am currently on the Parish Council and have been involved in many different activities over the years including Board of Education, Athletic Club President, School Athletic Director (volunteer) and a reader at mass. I am also a member of the Knights of Columbus serving as a Trustee. Before I retired in 2013, I worked for the Industrial Distribution Group based in Charlotte N.C. and for the last 18 years I was the Regional V.P. for Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. I was responsible for Sales, and Customer Service, Hiring and managing a $25 million annual budget. I currently work part time for the Packers as a Lambeau Field Tour Guide. St. Bernard Parish and School has a strong community and currently has many good programs and activities for all phases of the parish members with new opportunities being offered. Two areas I feel are important now and for the future are the youth and adult education. I like seeing the continued and expanding emphasis on the youth of the parish, there is a lot of energy and activity in this area. I also like the the adult education area with new programs, classes and seminars being offered to parishioners. All aspects of parish life are important, these are two I feel will help in the continued development of St. Bernard. I look forward for the opportunity to serve as a Trustee for St. Bernard Parish.
