April, 2014 Page 5 Ministry of the Month by Betty Blackmon The Daughters of the Holy Cross The Order was instituted September 12, 2009, as a ministry within the Anglican Church in North America. Daughters live by a fourfold Rule of Life that encompasses Prayer, Study, Service, and Evangelism. Each day daughters offer prayers for the order, our clergy, our chapters and any persons who are brought to our attention because of their needs. The Order exists to gather women into a nurturing and empowering community to serve our Lord Jesus Christ as He unites and builds up his Body, the Church. Daughters of the Holy Cross meet on the second Thursday of each month in the Guild Room at 10:00. We open with prayer, share a moment of mirth, have a short business meeting, identify prayer needs and spend time in study. Anyone who may be interested is welcome to come and join us and see what we are about. The Daughters are hosting a Lenten gathering on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Rivera Hall. All are invited to participate. Sequoia Deanery Medical Mission Rummage Sale May 2-3 Parishioners are asked to set aside saleable items to donate to the Sequoia Deanery Medical Mission Rummage Sale. James and Friends at St. Paul s, I wanted to write to say thank you for your hospitality and generosity to me on my recent pastoral visit to St. Paul s. What a joy to be with you and to see all the things that are going on. We received the other day checks totaling $864 for my discretionary fund. These funds are used to assist clergy, seminarians and missionaries in and from the Diocese of San Joaquin. Thank you for your generosity and sacrifice. Godspeed, Your Servant and Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Eric Menees Dear Fr. James: My family and I are so grateful for all that you, your staff, your congregation, and everyone did who helped provide the beautiful service and reception to honor Douglas. Thank you seems inadequate, but those words are heartfelt. Rosamund Barteau Thank you to all who walked or supported walkers in the CROP Walk. All together, we had between 60 and 70 walkers from 10 different congregations, and have raised over $6,700 so far. Several people have not collected all of their pledges, so I expect our totals will be significantly higher. Praise God for His glory and plan to join us again next year! Thank you, Cindy Sanders
