Remembrance of the Faithful Departed Date November 1, All Saints Day November 8, 32 nd Sunday in Ordinary time November 15, 33 rd Sunday in Ordinary time November 22, Solemnity of Christ the King Teaching Matthew-5:1-12a, the beatitudes. Mark 12:38-44, the parable of the widow and the coins. Mark 13:24-32, the 2 nd coming of Christ. John 18:33b-37, the exchange between Pilate and Jesus. Eternal Rest One of the most commonly recited of Catholic prayers in times past, this prayer has fallen into disuse in the last few decades. Prayers for the dead, however, is one of the greatest acts of charity we can perform. Through our prayers, we can help the faithful departed during their time in Purgatory, so that they can enter more quickly into the fullness of Heaven: Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen (Cut along dotted line and send back inside provided envelope) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Father John, Remembrance of the Faithful Departed I am pleased to enclose my tax deductible almsgiving of $ in support of the Basilian Fathers Missions. Please remember the following deceased in your prayer I am unable to send a gift at this time but I do ask that you remember the following deceased in your prayers.

Basilian Fathers in Sugarland A special thank you The St. Joseph Center is the business office for The Basilian Fathers Missions, located in Sugar Land, Texas. This is where Father John L. Boscoe (Procurator) presides over the day to day operations for the missions in Latin America. This year was a challenging year, after the sudden death of Al Ewer. We contacted Father Kevin Storey to assist us in finding an immediate replacement to keep our operations moving forward. We would like to give a special thanks to Father Storey, Jordan Faust & Jessica Limones for acting quickly and assisting us in our time of need. We would like to welcome Rosina Blanco as the new business manager for the Basilian Fathers Missions and Executive Assistant to Father John. You can reach Rosina at the center Monday through Friday from 8:30-4:30. Who Are We? -The Basilians Fathers Missions- The priest of the Basilian Fathers Missions are a small group, living and working among the poor of the countries where we serve in our ongoing effort to assist them in their struggle for human dignity and self-reliance. In cooperation with the local bishops and together with the religious of other missionary communities, we present to the people of Latin America new ways of experiencing more fully the goodness and presence of God in all human activity. In keeping with our tradition, we focus on education and following the express wishes of the Holy Father, we attempt to promote a vigorous vocation program. We solicit and rely on the prayers, sacrifices and alms of our benefactors, our co-missionaries, in promoting native vocations to the priesthood and in continuing our work of evangelization. CURRENT NEWS AND UPDATES FROM THE ST. JOSEPH CENTER -We would like everyone to be assured that the Un-published Book of Memoirs by Father John Collins will continue in the next newsletter coming in Christmas 2015 -We currently are in the process of remodeling our website. In our Christmas newsletter 2015 we inform you of the launch date for the new site. -Special thanks to Marta Alves, Arlene Schroeder & Rosina Blanco, without whose help this newsletter would not have been possible.

Basilian Fathers in Colombia Happy 23 rd Birthday INSA INSA - The Institute of Our Lady of the Assumption - Instituto de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción - en Calí, Colombia for economically deprived families Parent s Education Workshops Ten months a year, the parents of INSA students come to school. The workshops begin with the celebration of the Eucharist and continue for two hours with group discussions and learning sessions covering a particular topic of importance. In September the topic was Sharing in Family Life to Promote Peace. Laura Andrade and Yulieth Alomias, two INSA tenth graders, were selected by the Alvaralice Foundation to attend a week long leadership workshop in New York, all expenses paid, sponsored by the Miracle Corners of the World Foundation. Every year the talented students from INSA create these beautiful paintings and they are displayed on cards and calendars to be showcased for all to enjoy. It is very rewarding and encouraging to the students to see their art appreciated by so many!

Basilian Fathers in Mexico México s traditional celebration of Dia de los Muertos Ofrendas are an essential part of the Day of the Dead celebrations (All souls day). The word ofrenda means offering in Spanish. They are also called altares or altars, but they are not for worshiping. Favorite foods and drinks of the deceased are placed in the ofrenda. Congratulations to Padres Basilianos in Mexico on their anniversary In 1822, ten priests in Annonay, France, received approval from Rome to form a religious congregation dedicated to the education of young people in the heady days that followed the French Revolution. This became the Congregation of Priests of St. Basil. Although confronted with many challenges and difficulties, the community made a major impact in that region of France and grew steadily. In 1852, at the invitation of Bishop Charbonnel of Toronto, the Basilian Fathers extended their presence in Canada with the founding of University of St Michael. The Congregation then came to the United States. Today, the Basilians are represented in Mexico where they arrived in 1961. Oct. 22 is their anniversary.
