1. 19 :04 Start with prayer 2. Quorem: Yes 3. Review of July 18 minutes Accepted 4. Introduction of Guests: a. Father Ponce in attendance 5. Reports: a. Respect Life: (Need new chair) i. There is no active committee at this time ii. Kevin S. proposed that the Parish Council look for a chair for the committee iii. Bill C. proposed that a bulletin announcement be made to look for a chair for this ministry b. Outreach: Jill A. i. The food pantry has been moved to a new storage room ii. There will be a pajama drive in November for the Sweet Dreams ministry iii. The parish meeting for this ministry will be in November c. Religious Education : Kathy C. i. A new 3 rd grade catechist has joined the R.E. group ii. There is a retreat being offered for the R.E. group d. Liturgical : Mary P.- Deacon Lynn reported on status i. The liturgical items for the Dedication/New Church wish list will be delivered on Sept. 20 th - anything that can be placed in the new church during the final phases of construction will be placed as defined by the Certification of Occupancy ii. Lynn described the new digital control system for the church lighting iii. Lynn spoke to the New Liturgical Guidelines Manual and training schedule that will be forthcoming for all of the ministries involved in the Liturgy in the new church- training will be scheduled per ministry iv. Mary asked about the new Missals for the church- Lynn will speak to Barb about placing the order for them v. The new speaker system is coming, and the large speakers that have been use in the gym space will be used in the interim, and during the Dedication Mass vi. The logistics for moving all of the parish equipment from the school premises to the new church is in work e. Womens Group : DeAnn/Bill Champlin i. An Open House will be held on Sept. 30 to help increase interest/membership ii. The Women s Group will help support the Parish Potluck iii. The group will provide support for the Dedication Mass potluck iv. Tiffany Hill will host the Advent brunch v. Pumpkin roll sales prior to Thanksgiving f. Knights : Mike Walker to chair
i. Tootsie Roll campaign finished up last weekend- this year s effort broke the total raised last year- final count is pending ii. Football FundCrazr is wrapping up- no preliminary results as of yet iii. The KofC will be donating $100 to support th Potluck iv. The Peaches and Pears raised $200 to be donated to the Parish- the Council approved the motion to apply this to the Potluck v. The Christmas Card Fundraiser was presented and moved forward with Fr.s approval g. Facilities : Bill Champlin to chair i. Dave Dalton continues to manage the ongoing To-Do list- items are being worked off the list, and others are pending ii. Next meeting is Oct.9 iii. The facilities group will be participating in Safety training iv. The Parish has a contract with Terminex for pest control in the Parish Centerthere is a log available in the center to keep track of pest sightings h. Teen club : Deacon John i. The Theology of the Body for Teens program will start after the Dedication of the new church sanctuary- 5-7 teens will be participating ii. The spring program will be Jeff Cavins A Journey Through the Bible i. Catholic Charities : Jill i. Catholic Charities has formally stated opposition to the cancellation of the federal DACA policy ii. Next parish meeting to be held in November 6. Old Business: a. DSC update- Deacon Lynn i. There are still a lot of moving parts involved with the new church ii. The parish budget has been adjusted slightly to cover ongoing activities in regard to the new church iii. The DSC committee has been looking into management proposals in regard to parish growth- such things as Religious Ed., room space, etc. b. Re-occurring Ministry Fair- Bob i. No Report c. Pictorial Parish Directory: Kevin/Mary i. Online registration (or call in) has been activated by Bettinger- there is a direct link to parish scheduling available ii. Father will provide a phone blast to the parish to garner interest iii. The Bulletin Advert to promote the Directory will continue to Oct. 1 iv. The campaign will need 2-4 volunteers for the photo sessions d. Liturgical Practices for the new building: Jill/Kevin D. i. See Liturgy Report e. The new St. Benedict Parish Prayer i. A third version was presented and approved with minor changes by Father
ii. The layout for the prayer card will be done by Kevin Dillon f. Dedication Mass: Jill i. Due to the low turnout for the Potluck items it was suggested that Jill contact Eric Lustig for support by his Culinary group ii. The Women s Group will provide support iii. A commemorative gift will be given out to parishioners who attend in the form of the St. Benedict Holy Card that was mentioned last meeting iv. Kevin S. will contact Brian Ries about the clean-up needed prior to the Dedication Mass v. Jill asked about chair availability for the Potluck- the parish will be able to cover the chair count vi. Tables for the Potluck will be available from St. Michaels g. Councils preparation for the upcoming changes i. An announcement will be made at the Oct. 1 in regard to the etiquette looked for in the new sanctuary (as opposed to what people are used to in the gym environment) h. Pastoral Plan revisions i. No progress to report i. Change to Pastoral Council Bylaws i. The Bylaw changes will tabled in anticipation of the Diocesan Guidelines (template) that will be coming to the parish- The parish Bylaws will ultimately be approved by the Bishop ii. Upon review of the Diocesan guidelines there will be discussion with Fr. Ponce about the upgrade to the parish Bylaws iii. Father will produce a draft from which the council will produce a final upgrade version 7. New Business a. Additional mass schedule i. The discussion continues- suggested times are: 5:00 pm/9:00 am or 5:00/8:30 ii. Proposed start time in November as opposed to the beginning of Advent b. Parish Survey i. Suggested as a means to define the parish mission going forward, needs and state of the parish, possible ministry opportunities, and even gauge the strength of the faith within the parish c. Bulletin Advertising i. There are a number of new business in the Falcon area that present excellent ad opportunities for the bulletin 8. Director s Report i. No Report 9. Closing Prayer: 9:20 10.
