Al hamdu lillah, Allah has blessed us with the month of Hajj and sacrifice. These blessings endow us with one of the fundamental Muslim characters: the character of sacrifice. This is also a time to increase our love and fear of Allah and to be more conscious of Him. This is a time to reflect and ponder over the events that are happening around us. In this spirit, and by the grace of Allah, the Association was able to raise a sum of $ 4700.00 for the benefit of the Tsunami victims. The money was sent to ICNA and other Muslim relief agencies. This amount will hopefully be doubled through the government of Canada matching plan. A Message! Islam is a religion of Faith, Worship and Action. It is not sufficient for the believer to declare: La ilaha ill-allah. (There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah). Islam requires that those who have faith, must act on it. We strive therefore, to perfect our acts of worship in order to attain true Peace within our hearts, which can only be granted by the Creator to His servants. Contributed by Sr. Anna Snellen But even if we perform our Salah, and fast, following the example of our prophet Muhammad (May Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him), there are still many additional actions we can perform to please Almighty Allah. Islam also emphasizes that all Muslims must unite their efforts to produce a society dedicated to righteousness and piety. Allah says in the Quran: (Al Baqarah v. 197) For Hajj are the months well-known. If any one undertakes that duty therein, let there be no obscenity, nor wickedness, nor wrangling in the Hajj and whatever good ye do, (be sure) Allah knoweth it. And take a provision (with you) for the journey, but the best of provisions is right conduct. (Taqwa) So fear Me, O ye that are wise! The majority of us will not have the opportunity to travel to Makkah for Hajj this year, but we can prepare our hearts and our souls for the time when we will be able - Insha Allah, to participate in that most excellent journey. Right conduct and Taqwa should also be our provisions for daily life as Muslims. We can help our Muslim brothers and sisters / orphans / neighbours, read Quran and Islamic books to increase our Iman, give charity, (even a smile is charity), volunteer at the Mosque, fast extra days and spend more time remembering Allah (Dhikr). Almighty Allah has promised us in Quran: (Ash Shams v.9) Truly he succeeds that purifies it (the soul) Eid Mubarak and may Almighty Allah reward you with a generous reward.

Eleven key rules of Quran To be remembered by a good Muslim ELEVEN KEY RULES OF QURAN TO BE REMEMBERED BY A GOOD MUSLIM Contributed By Rahat Iram God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful, insists on making His religion easy, practical and enjoyable for His true believers. God also told us that those who reject Him or His books are making life miserable for themselves and for their loved ones who follow in their footsteps. He reminds us in the Quran that He has placed no hardship on us in practicing our religion (see Quran 22:78) God established also several rules in His book, the Quran, for His TRUE believers. Breaking any of His rules or refusing any of them means loss, misguidance, misery and eternal suffering. To understand ISLAM and to stay firm on our beliefs, we need to remember these 11 rules established by our Creator, God Almighty, to whom we will be responsible for our deeds. Every rule is important and every rule is meant to be. (1) The Quran is a complete book. See Quran 6:19,38,114,115, 12:111 and 50:45. Remember that when God says that His book is complete, it means 100% complete. (2) The Quran is perfect; no mistakes, no falsehood, no nonsense. See Quran 41:42, 12:40, 30:30, 30:43 and 98:5 (3) The Quran is detailed, and when God says He detailed His book it means FULLY detailed. God does not do half jobs. See Quran 6:114, 7:52, 11:1, 41:3, 10:37 and 12:111 (4) God does not need any addition to His book. God teaches us in the Quran that He does not run out of words and that if He so willed He could have given us hundreds, thousands or millions of books besides the Quran (see Quran 18:109). Since the Quran is complete, perfect and fully detailed, God did not give us any more books. (5) God calls His book, the Quran, the BEST HADITH. HE called on His true believers to accept no other hadiths as a source of this perfect religion. See Quran 7:185, 31:6, 39:23, 45:6, and 77:50.

(6) God calls on His true believers to make sure not to fall in the trap of idol-worship by following the words of the scholars instead of the words of God. See Quran 9:31 (7) God calls those who prohibit what He did not prohibit, aggressors, liars and idol-worshipers. Idol-worship is the only unforgivable sin, if maintained till death. See Quran 5:87, 9:37, 7:32, 6:119, 6:140 and 10:59. ELEVEN KEY RULES OF QURAN TO BE REMEMBERED BY A GOOD MUSLIM Continued (8) Muhammed is represented only by the Quran. The Prophet Muhammed was the last Prophet and a messenger of God (See Quran 33:40). He was not the messenger of God because of who he (Muhammed) was, but because he was given the Quran (the message) to deliver to the world. The religion of Islam is a religion of God, not about Muhammed, who was blessed by God with the delivery of the message of the Quran. He did not have an agenda of his own. His job was to deliver to the world what God was giving him, the Quran. See Quran 42:48, 13:40, 5:99-100 Muhammed cannot prohibit things, or make lawful things on his own. When he tried to do that God admonished him publicly, see Quran 66:1 66:1 reminds us that God is the only ONE to prohibit or make things lawful. NO ONE can attribute to Muhammed a prohibition that God did not give him in the Quran. Anyone who tries to do so is admitting his/her refusal of God's words and commandments in the Quran. (9) The TRUE believers KNOW that when God says something, He means it, and when He does not, he means it as well. Everything given to us in the Quran was done deliberately and everything left out was also left out deliberately. God does not forget. See Quran 19:64. We are not to add to this religion what God deliberately left out and claim it to be from Him or His messenger. His messenger has only ONE message, the Quran. God already told us He does not run out of words. See Quran 18:109 (10) God does not need us to improve on His book, the Quran, but we very much need Him for every aspect of our lives. Those who think they have some improvement on the Quran are but asking for recognition of their idols as gods besides the ONE and ONLY GOD. (11) God calls on His TRUE believers to verify every piece of information they see, hear or read, see Quran 17:36.

Kids Corner Eid-Ul Ul-Adha Eid-ul-Adha Contributed by Islamic School Every year, Muslim children can t wait of Eid-Ul- Adha to come. Do you know the story behind the sacrifice in Eid-Ul-Adha?. Prophet Ismail (peace be upon him - pbuh) was the first son of Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh). When Ismail (pbuh) grew up, Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh) saw a vision showing him, slaughtering his son as a sacrifice following ALLAH s (SWT) command. Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh) had trust in Almighty ALLAH (Subhanhu Wa Taala - SWT). His son Ismail (pbuh) also showed full obedience to the command of ALLAH (SWT) and to that of his father. However, ALLAH (SWT) spared Ismail s life (pbuh), replaced him with a sheep to use as a sacrifice. In Eid-Ul-Adha, Muslims sacrifice a sheep or one-seventh of a cow to remember Prophet Ibrahim s (pbuh) willingness to sacrifice everything for ALLAH (SWT), even his son Ismail (pbuh). Muslims equally distribute the meat among the needy, friends and family.

Let s color a drawing of a sheep I learned from this story that a Muslim child must obey ALLAH (SWT) and his/her mom and dad even in difficult situations. When Muslims sacrifice in Eid-Ul-Adha, they must give to the Guess, who is the mother of Prophet Ismail (pbuh)? A. Lady Hajar B. Lady Sarah C. Lady Aminah When I see a Muslim in Eid-Ul-Adha, I will say Eid-Mubarak!!!

Ka bah and Hajj Do you know? Almighty ALLAH (SWT) says in the Qur aan that the Ka bah is ALLAH s sacred house or grand house. Greeting of this house of ALLAH (SWT) is different from greeting any other Mosques. Once a Muslim enters ALLAH s sacred house or grand house, he or she has to make Tawaf (circling) around Ka bah for seven times. Let s color a drawing of the Ka bah Now, we enjoyed coloring the Ka bah Guess, who raised the foundation and built Ka bah? A. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) B. Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh) C. Prophets Ibrahim and Ismail (peace be upon them) In the month of Zul-Hijjah of the Hijri calendar, more than two million Muslims go to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj. They gather from all parts of the world in response to Prophet Ibrahim s (pbuh) call that ALLAH (SWT) asked him to do. May ALLAH (SWT) accept Muslims Hajj this year. I can t wait to grow up and go to Hajj in Shaa ALLAH. There, I can meet my Muslim brothers and sisters from all parts of the world!!
