RELEASING YOUR ANGELS Or SET YOUR ANGELS FREE By Sue Whisenhunt I do not think it s an exaggeration to say that every one of us is facing some sort of problem today. Some kind of trouble we can t escape without the help of God. For one person, the trouble might be a disease that the medical science can t cure. For another, it may be financial problems or a family crisis. But no matter what kind of wall the devil has backed you up against; you can count on one thing: God has promised to deliver you. That s right! The Word says, Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivers him out of them all (Psalm 34:9). Oh, how I love the word all in the Bible! It s time to begin to undo some of the things you ve done with your words. It s time to get your words in line with God s Word and release your angels. How does God carry out that deliverance? One way He does it is through angels. You may not have given angels much thought, but you should! We are living in dangerous days and their activities are crucial to our safety. And you need to know how they operate. Psalm 91:9-11 tells us that, Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, there shall no evil befall you, nor plague nor calamity come near your tent. For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend you in all your ways [of obedience and service]. (The Amplified Bible). God gives His angels charge over you. He charges them to protect you to keep you to minister unto you. 1

As Hebrews 1:14 says, Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who are to inherit salvation? (AMP). If you are an heir of salvation, angels are sent out in service to you. And their ministry can literally be a lifesaver. It certainly was for Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. The bible tells us they were hauled before the king because they refused to bow down before his golden image---and they were sentenced to die in a fiery furnace. When the king warned them of the deadly consequences of their actions, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego said, O, Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But, if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou has set up (Daniel 3:16-18). I ve noticed something about every instance where angels supernaturally delivered God s people. They were faithful people. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego said, Even if it costs our lives, we will not bow down. The king was so enraged he ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than normal. The fire was so hot it killed the soldiers who threw Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego into the furnace. But the Bible says, And to God The Lord belongs escape from death [setting us free] (Psalm 68:20 AMP). God provided that escape for these three faithful servants. When Nebuchadnezzar looked into the furnace, he jumped up and asked his counselors: Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt! And the form of the fourth is like a son of the gods! Then Nebuchadnezzar came 2

near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of the Most High God, come out and come here. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out from the midst of the fire. And the satraps, the deputies, the governors, and the king's counselors gathered around together and saw these men that the fire had no power upon their bodies, nor was the hair of their head singed; neither were their garments scorched or changed in color or condition, nor had even the smell of smoke clung to them (Daniel 3:24-27 AMP) I am telling you, these three men didn t just escape the furnace alive; they came out without a hair on their head singed. They did not even smell like smoke. When Nebuchadnezzar saw what had happened, he said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who believed in and trusted in Him! (verse 38) Even Nebuchadnezzar realized that because these men trusted God, He had sent an angel to protect them. Daniel in the Lion s Den Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego s experience wasn t an isolated incident either. God did the same for Daniel. You probably remember the story. The king had been trapped by wicked men into sentencing Daniel to death. Daniel s only crime was prayer, and the night he was thrown into the lion s den, the king was grieved. Now the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting; and no musicians were brought before him. Also his sleep went from him. Then the king arose very early in the morning and went in haste to the den of lions. And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is your God, 3

whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions? Then Daniel said to the king, O king, live forever! My God has sent His angel and has shut the lions mouths, so that they have not hurt me, (Daniel 6:18-22). Some Bibles include a picture illustrating that story. It shows Daniel asleep and the lions asleep at his feet. I like that! It reminds me that Daniel slept better in the lions den than the king did at his palace. Daniel was at peace because an angel of God protected him. The prophet Elisha experienced the same kind of protection. Second Kings 6 tells of a time when he and his servant were surrounded by the Syrian army. His servant panicked. Alas, my master! How shall we do? The servant cried (verse 15). Elisha looked out at the horses and chariots of the great, hostile army and said, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than be with them (verse 16). He didn t pray, Lord, help us! Protect us! Keep us! He was so steadfast in God s deliverance and protection that he simply prayed, and said, LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see. Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha (verse 17). Elisha could see in the spirit. He saw not only the enemy army, but horses and chariots of fire and angels encompassed about him. There were more angels than there were natural soldiers. Those angels were ready to bring the deliverance Elisha needed. Peter Delivered From Prison We can see angels at work in the New Testament also. In Acts 12, for example, we see Peter in prison. James had been killed and Herod was planning to kill Peter the next day. Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, Arise quickly! And his chains fell off his hands (verse 4

7). Notice that Peter was a man of faith. If you thought they were going to cut your head off the next morning, I doubt you would be sleeping so soundly that an angel would have to hit you to wake you up. The angel told Peter to get his shoes on and follow him. When they were past the first and the second guard posts, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city; which opened to them of its own accord (verse 10). When dealing with angels, natural hindrances are nothing. The chains fell off Peter. When they reached the outer gate, it opened of its own accord. After the angel left him, Peter hurried to a prayer meeting where the believers there were shocked to see him, they failed to open the gate and let him in. It was easier for Peter to get out of prison than to get into a prayer meeting! Another thing about angels is: They have supernatural, superhuman strength. The Word says about angels in Psalm 103:20-21, Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, Who do His Word, heeding the voice of his Word. Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, You ministers (servants) of His, who do his pleasure. These verses show God s fivefold purpose and ministry for angels. Angels exist to serve God and His people in five ways! The Fivefold Purpose For Angels The first way, angels serve God is to: bless the Lord in worship and service. The second way, angels serve God is to: do His Word concerning activities on earth. The third way, angels serve God is: to hearken and heed the voice of God s Word as it is spoken through the saints (God s children) on the earth. The fourth way, angels serve God is to minister on God s behalf to the saints, God s Children. (as described in Hebrews 1:14). 5

The fifth way, angels serve God is to do God s pleasure (as His hosts are at His direction). The third way, hearkening and heeding the voice of God s Word as it is spoken through the saints on the earth, gives you a tremendous clue about what causes angels to work. They pay attention and hearken to the voice of God s Word. And they hear the voice of His Word concerning your welfare from your mouth. When you speak out God s Word of deliverance, the angels assigned to you go to work to bring that Word to pass. The Bible clearly gives us instructions about how to deal with angels. It says, Provoke him not, for he will not pardon your transgressions; for my name is in him. But if you indeed obey his voice [the angels voice], and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries. For My Angel will go before thee (Exodus 23:21-23). Provoke him not. How do you provoke an angel? By speaking things that are contrary to the Word of God. By saying things like, That s going to kill me I m afraid I m sick.that slays me..that frightened me to death When you speak defeat instead of your victory, the angels assigned to you don t have a right to say, That poor, dumb man, I ll just have to bless him anyway. I ll protect him even though he s not trusting God. No, they can t do that. Their hands are tied by your words of unbelief. They are bound. They have been charged to hearken to God s Word Words of faith (Psalm 103:20). Your words either turn your angel loose to work for you or force them to sit helplessly by while the devil harasses you. If you haven t been getting the action you want in your finances, your health or any area, the first place to look is right in your own mouth. Don t blame it on your wife. Don t blame it on your husband or your pastor. Look at your own words. 6

There is no shortage of angel power. There are plenty of them. Trillions! If there s a shortage in your life at all, it s a shortage of WORD power. Solve that shortage by putting God s promises of deliverance in your heart and in your mouth. Continually give the angels the Word they need to protect you. When you re tempted to discuss how bad your situation is ---STOP! Remember the angels. Remember what God s Word says about your situation, and open your mouth and speak right words. I believe angels have been bored because we have lived the kind of lifestyle that doesn t require much of their help. Their assignment is to assist us in supernatural endeavors, to protect us and to help us. If angels are assigned to assist us in supernatural activities, than there must be a need for the supernatural. Risk must be taken to pursue solutions to the impossible. This gospel of power is the answer to the tragic condition of humankind. I challenge you to take risks for FAITH is RISKY. We are people of faith; let us change our lifestyle so that His manifest presence and that of His angels will increase in our lives. Many of you in your ignorance may have provoked your angels and it is time to undo some of the things you ve done with your words. It s time to get your words in line with God s Word and release your angels! This prayer will begin the process: Speak this prayer out loud to your Heavenly Father Father, in the name of Jesus, I repent of my ignorance of the Word of God. I confess the foolish things I ve said and prayed. I confess this as sin and I receive my forgiveness. In Jesus name, I bind every word that has released the devil or drawn his weapons towards me. I bind every hindering force that I ve ever given strength to by the words of my mouth. I break the power of those spiritual forces. 7

Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask You to guide me in wisdom and understanding through the scriptural methods to set in motion all that is good, pure, perfect, lovely, and of good report. I covenant with You to pray accurately. I will keep my mouth. I will speak only that which glorifies God. I will let no corrupt communication proceed out of my mouth, but that which is good to edify and minister grace to the hearer. I will not grieve the Holy Spirit of God whereby I m sealed to the day of redemption, but I will give glory and honor and praise to the Lord Jesus Christ for all that shall be done. I thank You, Father, that I am the Body of Christ. The enemy has no power over me. I proclaim that all that is good, all that is blessed of God, all that is in the perfect will of God, all that God has designed for me shall come to me, in Jesus name. All of the evil and the bad reports, all that the enemy has designed to deceive me, lead me astray, to destroy me, my home, or my finances shall be stopped with the name of Jesus and the words of my mouth. I m blessed in the city and blessed in the field. I m blessed in the baskets and blessed in the store. I m blessed coming in and blessed going out. I m the head and not the tail. I m above and not beneath. I m blessed of Almighty God, strengthened with all might according to Your glorious power. The Greater One is in me; He puts me over in life. The Spirit of Truth is in me; He gives me divine wisdom, divine direction, divine understanding of every situation and every circumstance of life. I have the wisdom of God. 8

I thank You, Father, that I m led by the Spirit of God. I have the mind of Christ and the wisdom of God is within me. In Jesus name, Amen (which means = So Be It To Me). Now rejoice!! You ve released your ministering angels to go to work and accomplish God s Word in your life. You ve given them the green light to bring you into the Promised Land that place God has prepared especially for you! 9
