Without your help St. Mary s would not be able to function as efficiently as we do. Catholics in Action: The diocese is hosting a mission/service trip to Iowa City on June 25-27 for our junior high students. Current 6-8th graders are invited to spend a day at the Iowa City Catholic Worker House spending time with refugees that need help transiting to the Iowa City area. Our kids will have a chance to listen to the stories of people that have fled their homeland for a better life for them and their children. This year we will hear witness stories from people that immigrated here from Mexico, Honduras and Congo. The other two days, we will be working with several different organizations in the Iowa City area. We are also looking for high school students to help facilitate the mission trip through Catechesis and Evangelization. I feel this is a great opportunity to help our children experience first hand of what is happening with the immigration situation. If interested, we need adults to drive vans to work sites. Again, this a way to help build the Catholic Church in the community. St. Mary s would like to thank the family and friends of Lucille Fedler for the memorial to St. Mary s of $1,861.00. Also, thank you to the family Elvera Fischer for the Bequest of $2000.00. We would like to welcome Dylan Joseph Schmitz the son of Brian and Lyndsey Schmitz who were baptized into the Catholic Faith on Saturday, May 5th. May angels guide you on your journey in life, and sprinkle you with their love and light. May you have the gifts of laughter and song, and be filled with dreams that last all days long. May you live and care with kindness and grace, and know within your soul, courage and faith. You will be wrapped in the warmth of your family and friends, and rays of love will shine on you without end. Vacation Bible School Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus will be held July 23rd to July 27th from 8:30am to 11:30am at the school in St. Paul. Registration is $15.00 per child ($30.00 max per family.) All-loving God, We give you thanks and praise for mothers young and old. We pray for young mothers, who give life and count toes and tend to our every need; May they be blessed with patience and tenderness to care for their families and themselves with great joy. We pray for our own mothers who have nurtured and cared for us; May they continue to guide us in strong and gentle ways. We remember mothers who are separated from their children because of war, poverty, or conflict; May they feel the loving embrace of our God who wipes every tear away. We pray for women who are not mothers but still love and shape us with motherly care and compassion. We remember mothers. grandmothers, and great-grandmothers who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory and nourish us with their love. Amen.
