Through the prayers of the Mother of God, O Savior, save us. For the Lord, the Most High, the awesome, is the great king over all the earth. Through the prayers He brings people under us; nations under our feet. Through the prayers The Lord mounts his throne amid shouts of joy; the Lord amid trumpet blasts. Through the prayers Glory be... now and forever... : Only Begotten Son.... Third Antiphon: Regular 3rd Antiphon but with the following response: Son of God, who ascended in glory, save us who sing to You: Alleluia! Tropar (only): See pg. 101, Tone 6, (Ukrainian l., pg. 100) in the booklet for the Divine Liturgy. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: Tropar of the Ascension, tone 4: You ascended in glory, O Christ our God;* You delighted the disciples with the promise of the Holy Spirit.* Through this blessing they were assured that You are the Son of God,* the Redeemer of the world. Now and forever and ever. Amen!: 2

Kondak of the Holy Fathers, tone 8: The preaching of the apostles and the decisions of the Fathers* have established the true faith of the Church* which she wears as the garment of truth* fashioned from the theology on high.* She justly governs and glorifies the great mystery of worship. Prokimen: Blessed are you, and praiseworthy, O Lord, the God of our fathers, and glorious forever is your name. Verse: The Lord, God of gods, speaks, he summons the earth from east to west. Verse: Assemble my faithful before me who sealed my covenant by sacrifice. Epistle: A reading from the Acts of the Apostles (20: 16-18, 28-36) In those days Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus so as not to lose time in Asia, for he was eager to get to Jerusalem by the feast of Pentecost if at all possible. Paul sent word from Miletus to Ephesus, summoning the presbyters of that church. When they came to him, he delivered this address: ''Keep watch over yourselves, and over the whole flock the Holy Spirit has given you to guard. Shepherd the church of God, which he has acquired at the price of his own blood. I know that when I am gone, savage wolves will come among you who will not spare the flock. From your own number, men will present themselves distorting the truth and leading astray any who follow them. Be on guard, therefore. Do not forget that for three years, night and day, I never ceased warning you individually even to the point of tears. I commend you now to the Lord, and to that gracious word of his which can enlarge you, and give you a share among all who are consecrated to him. Never did I set my heart on anyone's silver of gold or envy the way he dressed. You yourselves know that these hands of mine have served both my needs and those of my companions. I have always pointed out to you that is by such hard work that you must help the weak. You need to recall the words of the Lord Jesus himself, who said: 'There is more happiness in giving than receiving.' '' Gospel: John 17: 1 13 At that time Jesus looked up to heaven and said: ''Father, the hour has come! Give glory to your Son that your Son may give glory to you, inasmuch as you have given him authority over all mankind, that he may bestow eternal life on those you gave him. Eternal life is this, to know you, the only true God, and him whom you have sent, Jesus Christ. I have given you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. Do you now, Father, give me glory at your side, a glory I had with you before the world began. I have made your name known to those you gave me out of the world. These men you gave me were yours; they have kept your word. Now they realize that all that you gave me comes from you. I entrusted to them the message you entrusted to me. They have known that in truth I came from you, they have believed it was you who sent me. For these I pray -- not for the world but for these you have given me, for they are really yours. Just as all that belongs to me is yours, so all that belongs to you is mine. It is in them that I have been glorified. I am in the world no more, but these are in the world as I come to you. O Father most holy, protect them with your name which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. As long as I was with them, I guarded them with your name which you gave me. I kept careful watch, and not one of them was lost, none but him who was destined to be lost -- in fulfillment of Scripture. Now, however, I come to you; I say all this while I am still in the world that they may share my joy completely. ENGLISH: Instead of Indeed, it is fitting : O my soul, extol the Lord who in glory ascended bodily into heaven. O Mother of God, who in a manner beyond understanding and beyond words gave birth in time to Him whom time cannot contain, we the faithful magnify you with one accord. Communion Hymn: Praise the Lord from the heavens, praise Him in the highest. Exult, you just, in the Lord; praise from the upright is fitting. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! 3

Instead of: 'We have seen the true light...' and 'May our mouths be filled...': Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; above all the earth be your glory. Sophia Nahachewsky Eparchy of Saskatoon Family and Life Office Bulletin: May/June 2014 The future of the world passes through the family Familiaris Consortio, 79 May/June 2014: Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen! At the mid point of the 40-day celebration of the Resurrection yes we celebrate as much, if not more than we fast Jesus speaks of the Trinity (John ch.7&8). When He speaks of his Father the listeners immediately think of his earthly family, not getting that he is referring to his heavenly Father. However, our earthly family, given to us by God, is designed to point us in the direction of the heavenly one just like Mary and Joseph did. Even imperfect parents all of us-- can impart a heritage of faith to our children precisely because Christ made us a part of his heavenly family! Parents Matter: At the recent National Youth Ministry Conference Frank Mercadante, told conference participants that the current generation is more interested than ever to receive wisdom from their parents. The Church has always taught that parents are the primary educators of their children, but it is very good news that kids are actually interested in listening! The fact of the matter is that your kids are not only listening but they are watching everything you do!!! So here are some tips from Ms. Gillian Roussy, given at the 2014 Catholic Organization for Life and Family Conference, for the Successful Catholic Family: 1. Make Sunday Divine Liturgy the center of your week 2. Give thanks frequently practice Grace before meals and gratefulness for everything we have as gifts from God, including each other---this is an attitude of gratitude. 3. Simply give make sharing with the less fortunate a central feature of family life 5

4. Let your light shine learn about and talk about your faith with your children 5. Fight fair there will always be differences. Consider taking a parenting classes it can be very helpful. Admitting that you need help is a sign of strength not weakness. 6. Both parents and children make mistakes authenticity and willingness to acknowledge this is really important. 7. Forgive each other (a lot)-8. Remember rituals these are the rich fabric of our family life and are centered upon important fasts and feasts 9. Listen for holy moments seek God, make Christ the center of your marriage and family life and He will be present in your home your Domestic Church. 10. Practice life long loving knowing, practicing and passing on the faith must be done with love received from the author of LOVE and passed on. Deborah Larmour, Director, Eparchy of Saskatoon Family and Life Office Eparchial SOBOR An Eparchial SOBOR (assembly) was held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, in Saskatoon. The theme of the SOBOR was Families Evangelizing Families, a discussion about how the Eparchial community can better meet the needs of families as they face the struggles of modern day life. Families are the building blocks of vibrant parishes. The focus of the meeting was on helping families to pass on a living and vibrant faith to their children and grandchildren, despite difficulties and brokenness. The speakers shared their lived experience of profound faith in some of the most challenging areas of family life. The response to this event by those attending was overwhelmingly positive. If you missed out on this great day, don t despair there will be more to come! Please watch the Eparchial and the Family and Life Office websites for more information and resources for families! Fathers Day: A Family Tradition Worth Revisiting Mother s Day is always a huge event. This is a good thing when the value of motherhood is under serious question in society. For a long time, however, the value of fatherhood has been even more downplayed and cultural images of fathers in the Simpsons or Family Guy have influenced a whole generation to believe that there is little significance to that role Duh! Yet increasingly studies are showing that it is definitely in a child s best interest to have both a mother and a father as active influences in his or her life. Studies have shown that fathers have a deep impact on the very core identity of their children and it is easy to see why the Canadian Institute of Marriage and Family reports those children who have a Dad who is actively involved in their lives are less likely to experience a whole range of behavioral problems. See: IMF Fact Sheet on Fatherhood: http://www.imfcanada.org/fact-sheet/canadian-fathers So this June 15th let s really celebrate our Dads and don t forget our Priests who are our spiritual fathers and need our prayers, encouragement and support now more than ever. An excellent gift for any father might be John Eldredge s book Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man s Soul that addresses the misunderstood concept of masculinity in a very positive and engaging manner. SURVEY OF THE FAITHFUL OF THE EPARCHY OF SASKATOON 6

The Eparchy of Saskatoon is conducting a survey of members to assist in the reflection process that each parish is asked to make as part of Vision 2020, a program of renewal of our entire Church, initiated in 2011 by our Patriarch, Sviatoslav, and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Synod of Bishops, and presented by His Beatitude in his letter, http://www.skeparchy.org/publications/pastoral-letters/beatitudepastoral-letter-vibrant-parish.pdf" The Vibrant Parish a place to encounter the living Christ". We are also building upon the foundation of the 2005 Sobor which recognized the need for examining and evaluating available programs and other resources, and communicating this information to parishes. Results of the survey will be compiled and made available to parishes and to all the faithful of the Eparchy to provide a better understanding of the overall direction of the Eparchy and to offer each individual parish a perspective on its situation within the context of the entire Eparchial community. The survey should be completed by every member of the Eparchy who is 13 years of age or more. For more information, and to complete the survey online or print a copy for completion on paper, visit the Eparchial website: www.skeparchy.org Members who do not have access to the internet may request copies from the pastor or parish office. Please participate in this very important project which will help all of our parishes to develop pastoral plans that fit their particular circumstances and needs. MISSIONARY DEACDE OF DAYS - Third Day. Sunday of the Holy Fathers Leaders in the Faith Word of God: Acts 20:16-18, 28-36 Reflection: This year marks the 25th anniversary of the legalization of our church in Ukraine. Before that professing the faith and prayer was prohibited by law. We remember the countless examples of determination and courage in faith and love, which continue to give us hope. May our martyrs inspire us to personal witness. Quote of the Day: Do you not at times forget that your work with a young soul may produce a real saint? Though misunderstood by others, they have unlimited potential before God. Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Meaning of Leaders of Faith: Which heroes of faith do I remember among the new blessed martyrs? Prayer: All the choirs of the hierarchs, mighty luminaries of the Ukrainian Church! As faithful followers of the apostles and as good shepherds, you faithfully preserved the flock entrusted to you; you led it along paths of truth and carefully fed it with spiritual food, not hesitating to give up your lives for your sheep. Sunday of All Saints of Rus -Ukraine Missionary Task: Ask an elder person to share with you what he remembers or knows about our church in the underground. Share a book about the martyrs of our Church, or at least speak of them to a friend, who knows little or nothing about them. 7
