Focus: Korea Campus Crusade for Christ KCCC Summer Conference FEBRUARY 2014 The KCCC Summer is a pivotal event for the campuses. It is a time for vision casting, for equipping our disciples, and for recruiting new staff members. Held in late June, we have seen attendance grow from the hundreds to the thousands every year. It also has grown from a local conference to a global one that includes KCCC teams from the U.S. and Canada. In recent years teams from several countries have participated. A few years ago KCCC organized special programs for pre-believers. Their numbers have swelled from a handful to 900 at the last conference. At the end of that conference, several received Christ as their Savior and returned to campus to be disciples of Jesus Christ! It never fails to rain at each conference, as summer is the start of Korea s rainy season. Even though the morning and night sessions are held outdoors, the rain does not deter the participants from worshipping the Lord, listening to His Word and praying for God s will to be done. Participants come prepared with umbrellas and rain coats. Even the stormy weather has become part of the conference, as though the sheltered conferees say together we can do all things through Him (Philippians 4:13).

Korea CCC ministry Introduction KCCC was founded in 1958 by the late pastor Dr. Joon- Gon Kim. The ministry shares the vision of Campus Crusade for Christ s three-prong strategy of win-build-send. KCCC also advocates three devotions - Devotion for the Lord, Devotion for the nation, Devotion for brothers and five creeds - Bible, pray, evangelism, love, cooperation. With these clear mandates, the vision was not just to reach every campus but also each city, the nation and eventually the world. In the past few decades, several ground-breaking mission events helped reiterate those mandates. In 1974, there was Explo 74. In 1980, it was the 80 World Evangelism Conference. And in 1995 there was the 95 World Mission Conference. Through cooperative and collaborative efforts with the Korean churches, KCCC helped build discipleship movements in their communities, which have resulted in spiritual revival throughout the land. The conferences spurred the sending of international missions all over the world. SENT to win the world Mission trips In 1990, KCCC began sending its first mission teams to Philippines. Since then, every year the ministry has been sending mission teams to more than 10 countries, comprising approximately 2,000 students. In July 2007, the CM 2007 Campus Mission global conference held in Busan, was a rallying point for campus students and staff members to affirm their commitment to reach the top tier universities in the world. Hailing from 128 countries, 20,000 people came with a single goal of reaching 6,000 campuses around the world where this is little or no Christian presence. Currently, KCCC has sent 401 staff as missionaries to minister in 29 countries, and they are serving in a wide spectrum of ministries. The plan is to send 100,000 missionaries in the years to come. Another growing burden is for ministry in and preparation for unification of the entire Korean peninsula. NOW - take-off and take flight The baton of leading KCCC was handed off in 2003, when Pastor Joon-Gon Kim passed it to Pastor Sung-Min Park. In 2009, the growing ministry celebrated its 50 th anniversary and reaffirmed our passion and fervency in sharing our vision for reaching the campus and community. Through the years, we have learned that the extent of growth of a spiritual movement rests in the depth of its disciples spiritual growth. KCCC has embarked on a new paradigm in the discipleship process called GrowDIP (Growth in God, Discipleship and Evangelism, Influence the world), so that each student is equipped for every good work in helping to fulfill our Lord s Great Commission, wherever they are planted. Saturday, 1 February Pray for the campus ministry to be able to reach many freshmen in 2014; ask God for spiritual fruit that will remain and multiply greatly. Sunday, 2 February There is a rise in heretical groups on our campuses; pray for God s truth to prevail and wisdom for the staff seeking to dispel their teaching. Monday, 3 February Pray for wisdom and creativity in developing new tools and platforms to share the gospel; may the message not be diluted in the process. Tuesday, 4 February In South Korea there are 396 campuses and we have ministries on 296 of them; pray that God will open the doors for us to reach the rest. 2

National Leadership Team Global Sending Movement Our vision is to see spiritual movements led by local leaders who are truly following Jesus. Thus, our continual mission thrust is to pioneer ministries on new frontiers. Although we have been sending missionaries, short-term mission teams and STINTers globally, we decided to embark on the A6 project. A6 stands for ACTS6000 Campus Pioneering Project. It is a concerted effort to start spiritual movements on 6,000 level I unreached campuses around the world. Thus far, we have sent out 100 A6 project team members. Wednesday, 5 February Pray for the 320 campus staff members serving all over the country; may God fill them with His love and empower them to fulfill His calling. Thursday, 6 February Ask for prayer, Bible reading and evangelism to grow on campus; may discipleship groups multiply numerically and in spiritual generations. Friday, 7 February Intercede for the many growing disciples, asking for this crucial thing that they will apply what they have learned in their discipleship groups. Saturday, 8 February May the different discipleship programs meet student needs as they grow in grace and knowledge of Christ; may He be glorified in campus revival. 3

Winter Fasting and Prayer Conference Another hallmark in KCCC is the Fasting and Prayer Conference, which is held at the end of every year. This three night-four day, decentralized conference is held in 10 regions throughout the Korean peninsula. The conference focuses on both the individual and corporate levels. We spend time thanking God for the year past. Heart preparation is made as we look ahead with great hope for the challenges of the new year! Everyone is encouraged to begin the year by writing out 100 prayer requests and spending time in prayer over the list. At the next Prayer and Fasting Conference, they can revisit the list and be amazed and encouraged for each prayer God has answered. Sunday, 9 February Bridges International Ask God to raise up staff and disciples for our new BI ministry to reach foreign students; may He give many opportunities to connect with the students. Monday, 10 February High School Ministry Lift up in prayer to God our high school ministry in Korea, that we can reach the teenagers and they will become disciples of the Lord Jesus. Tuesday, 11 February Leader-led Movements Please pray fervently for all of the seven adult ministries in LLM; ask that there will be abundant fruit resulting from God blessing their work. Wednesday, 12 February Kingdom partners Thank God for the Nazareth Brethren ministry; pray that they can meet regularly for Bible study, prayer and encouragement in Christ. 4

Virtually Led Movement (VLM) South Korea is known as one of the most wired countries in the world. The use of smart phones and the Internet have become such an integral part of one s life that teenagers are known to surf the Net for more than four hours every day. Like Facebook and videos on YouTube, SMS also has been garnering a growing network of users and viewers and becoming ever more influential. Through the VLM ministry, we hope to produce different virtual tools to reach a growing tech-savvy market. The Four Spiritual Laws in Sand-Art video was a real hit. Just two weeks after its release, 400,000 had watched it on YouTube. It is currently available in 12 languages. Many have downloaded it to their mobile devices and used it as a tool to communicate the gospel when they are on mission trips. Besides tools such as KCCC Solarium, Storycube, and Four Laws Cube, we hope to develop other tools that will allow us to stay relevant as we connect with the current generation. We have started a Media STINT program for those who are interested to use digital media for ministry. In the course of completing their projects, students will receive guidance and training in using the media. At the end of 2013, the Soon Creative School of Media (SCSM) center was opened. The sole objective of SCSM is to use multimedia to produce tools for evangelism and discipleship. Pray for God to multiply and use SCSM s trainees. May He bless VLM s efforts to connect people to Jesus using digital strategies and tools. Thursday, 13 February Athletes in Action Praise God for AIA ministry; pray for the AIA staff to have wisdom and make good preparation for ministry during the World Cup in June. Friday, 14 February Music Ministry Ask our God Almighty to raise up new people and sufficient finances for CCCMUSIC, Dream Worship, Worship Vision, and the Fun-band. Saturday, 15 February Taekwando-In-Action Pray for the TIA ministry team as they seek opportunities to have TIA spiritual leader in 40 countries by 2020; pray that God will work for us! Sunday, 16 February Family Life May many learn marriage and Christian home principles at spring/autumn pre-marital seminars; pray about possible marriage seminar with Nazareth Brethren. 5

Daegu Region Prayer Meeting High in the Sky Monday, 17 February Community Churches Pray that a strong Bible storytelling movement and the Macedonia Project will grow and help churches and communities to share the gospel. Tuesday, 18 February JESUS film Join with us in petitioning our God to glorify the Lord Jesus by raising up a new director, just the right man at this time, for the JESUS Film Ministry. The ministries in the Daegu region conduct chapel meetings every Friday. After chapel, from 11 p.m. until morning, they adjourn to a nearby mountain to pray. This is modeled after Jesus example in Matthew 17, where He took His three disciples to a mountain and prayed all night. The students and staff members start at the foot of the mountain and climb for thirty minutes. Then they stop and pray until three in the morning. Next they climb for one hour and pray at that spot until the sun rises. As dawn breaks they begin to descend the mountain. The determination to do this every Friday has remarkably deepened their prayer lives! This tradition was started six years ago, and now 180 disciples are participating. KCCC Cam-Comm Ministry Cam-Comm is a bridge ministry to help our campus graduates become that someone in their workplace who truly follows Jesus. Prepare Seminars are conducted for students in their final academic year to prepare them to enter the marketplace. Land Through discipleship groups we seek to provide emotional support and to help graduates in their spiritual growth, with a special emphasis on building a Kingdom Perspective. The purpose is so that they will live a life of truly following Jesus. Launch We strive to send or help Cam-Comm leaders who have a Kingdom Perspective to find a partner within their profession who shares the same vision and mission. Together they can start to develop a missional community that can multiply into spiritual movements reaching all gates or domains of society. Wednesday, 19 February New campus works Pray for pioneering 600 new campuses by 2020, through short-term missions and A6 Project; A6 teams will go to DRC and Cameroon, March-May. Thursday, 20 February Friday, 21 February New mission teams Pray that our new Mission Leader s Training will help raise up and build 300 mission leaders who can lead pioneering teams in mission fields by 2020. Staff training Pray for our staff training program (GCTC) to equip the staff members to direct spiritual movements for the fulfillment of the Great Commission. 6

Saturday, 22 February Staff trainers Pray for the GCTC team and trainers for godly wisdom, patience and strength so that they will give their very best to help new staff trainees. Sunday, 23 February Technical staff Pray for God to develop and raise up gifted Christians who are skilled in creating phone apps to connect with and soon join our ministry. Monday, 24 February Creative staff Pray for the team producing new video clips and design to stay focused on the Lord, trust Him for creativity, and experience His wisdom and grace. Thursday, 25 February Pastors training May our NLTC training leave attending pastors with a renewed calling, refreshed in the Word, and encouraged to share their faith and equip the church. New Life Training Center (NLTC) New Life Training Center is a collaborative effort to work with churches to equip the laity to help fulfill the Great Commission. Since its inception we have trained 10,600 church members from 250 churches in evangelism and discipleship. There are two segments to the training one for the pastors and the other for the laity. For the pastors an intensive course is conducted at a five-day conference whilst the laity will undergo a 12-week course. The course for the laity comprises a fourlevel progressive training program. Friday, 26 February Church partners Please pray that God will enable us to set up five NLTC training centers in partnership with five churches during the first half of 2014. 7

Tuesday, 27 February Media training We have opened the Soon Creative School of Media (SCSM); pray that many talented students will begin to participate in this training. Wednesday, 28 February GAiN projects Pray that many will give sacrificially for GAiN Korea s relief and development projects designed to demonstrate God s love in word and deed. Called to a movement. Called to pray. Personal needs... Requests to share... Team needs... Answers to share... God works through the prayers of His people to ignite spiritual movements. As Spiritfilled disciples pray without ceasing, the Lord increases faith, causes growth and brings about fruitfulness to glorify Himself (John 15:1-17). Stories are the building blocks of all movements. The early church multiplied as the stories about Jesus spread everywhere. It continues to grow alongside stories of what He is doing now. igniting movements The Global Prayer team invites you to: Share stories of God answering prayer.
