A Message from Rabbi Brickman With the arrival of Winter, some of our Temple activities have been curtailed until the weather improves and those congregants who have gone to Florida return to Jersey City. There is, however, one activity in our Temple which continues throughout the winter, our Shabbat evening and morning services. I am pleased to report that even on the coldest Friday night, our congregants come to the Temple to share the warmth of our Shabbat evening service. I would like to remind you that transportation to the Temple is available every Friday night. If you would like to reserve a seat on the van or need more information about transportation to the Temple on Friday night, please call the Temple office. Those who would like to attend a Shabbat service, but who prefer not to come out in the evening, are invited to attend our Shabbat morning service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Our Shabbat morning service provides a beautiful atmosphere in which to enjoy the spirit of Shabbat rest and peace. Each week, our worship includes the reading of a selection from the weekly Torah portion and the reading of the Haftarah. Following the service, we bless the wine and challah, and enjoy a taste of herring and something sweet. By attending our Shabbat morning service, one performs two mitzvahs; the mitzvah of Shabbat worship, and the mitzvah of helping us guarantee that we will have the required minyan so that we will be able to conduct the entire service. It is especially important for us to have a minyan so that those who have come to observe a yahrzeit for a loved one will be able to recite kaddish. If you have not worshipped with us lately, make a resolution to worship with us in the New Year. Our congregation w~ll be enhanced by your presence among us. With best wishes for good health in 1991!
