To these holy purposes we do set apart and consecrate ths house, n the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. But, nasmuch as the consecraton of the temple erected by human hands s van and neffectual, f not followed by another consecraton, even the consecraton of those who ntend to worshp theren, call upon all of you, who are here present, now to consecrate yourselves anew wth all you are and have to the servce of our God. A Lutheran pastor from near Tnley Park, Rev. Wunderlch, was the frst preacher. He came about every second or thrd Sunday afternoon and conducted

Page Sxteen T rlnty Lutheran Church the servces n a school house at the northeast corner of 95th Street and 55th Avenue. Then for a perod of about two years a Rev. Renke from Blue sland, conducted the servces on Sunday afternoons. From 1871 to 1879 the Rev. H. Ernst, also from Blue sland, served the small congregaton. An organzaton was effected on Feb. 9, 1874. The frst offcers were: John Hll, Joachm Lange and John Sahs. At that tme they worshpped n a school house at the corner of 95th Street and Ccero Avenue. From 1879 Pastor Duborg, also from Blue sland, began servng Oak Lawn. t was n January, 1880, that the congregaton decded to have ts own pastor. Plans for the buldng of a church were consdered at a meetng on Feb. 21, 1881. Mr. Joachm Lange gave a plot of ground whch the congregaton could have ndefntely for church purposes. J Sahs, C. Mckow and F. Hlgendorf were chosen the buldng commttee. Buldng operatons progres13ed ncely and on October 9, 1881, the church was dedcated. At that tme a student by the name of Nchols served the church. n 1882 Pqstor Duborg left Blue sland and came to Oak Lawn, he beng the frst resdent pastor, and served untl 1884. Hs successor was the Rev. H. Esenbach who served untl 1889. Rev. J. D. Meyer came next and served untl 1895. He was followed by Pastor A. Scheffler. n 1906 Rev. P. Brockhaus became the pastor. He was succeeded n 1926 by Rev. J. H. Prange. The records n the possesson of the church date back to 1882. Baptsms, weddngs, funerals, etc., whch took place pror to that tme have, no doubt, been entered upon the records of those churches whose pastors served Oak Lawn at that tme. For a number of years the congregaton has consdered the mqtter of buldng a new church. The old buldng was no longer adequate for the best results n Sunday school work and also provded no room for the socal sde of congregatonal lfe. t was n the late Summer of last year that the congregaton decded to buld a new church. t was also decded to re-ocate. A buldng commttee was chosen whch began ts work at once. A bref ground-breakng servce was held October 15; the pastor makng a bref address. On November 19 the cornerstone was lad. Rev. E. Kemena was the festve speaker. The congregaton has a communcant membershp of 365; a baptzed membershp of about 500 and the Sunday School enrollment s near the 200 mark. Wthn the congregaton there are the followng actve organzatons: Lades' Ad, Luther League, Women's Msson Socety, Men's Club, Junor Msson Band and the chor. Htherto hath the Lord helped us.
