Order for the Worship of God Park Cities Presbyterian Church July 16, 2017 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00 am To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest; to all who mourn and long for comfort; to all who struggle and desire victory; to all who sin and need a Savior; to all who are strangers and want fellowship; to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness; and to all who will come, this church opens wide her doors and offers welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Prelude Variations on All Creatures of Our God and King Charles Callahan Dr. Bradley Hunter Welch, organ Call to Worship The Rev. Ron Williams 8:00 The Rev. Chad Scruggs 9:30/11:00 Minister: All Your works shall give thanks to You, O LORD, and all Your saints shall bless You! People: They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and tell of Your power, Minister: To make known to the children of man Your mighty deeds, and the glorious splendor of Your kingdom. People: Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations. Psalm 145.10-13 * Hymn No. 115 All Creatures of Our God and King LASST UNS ERFREUEN

* Prayer of Adoration * Profession of Faith Dr. Mark Fulmer 8:00 The Rev. Matt Fray 9:30 The Rev. Bill Lamberth 11:00 Minister. What is your only comfort in life and in death? People: That I belong body and soul, in life and in death not to myself, but to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ, who at the cost of His own blood has fully paid for all my sins and has completely freed me from the dominion of the devil; that He protects me so well that without the will of my Father in heaven not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, that everything must fit His purpose for my salvation. Therefore, by His Holy Spirit, He also assures me of eternal life, and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for Him. Heidelberg Catechism, Question 1 * Hymn No. 457 Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing NETTLETON Public Confession of Sin Almighty God, we acknowledge that we are unworthy of Your redeeming grace. We have not believed Your promises, nor trusted in our living Lord. Through worldliness of spirit we have not discerned Your presence with us. Through disappointment of mind and dejection of spirit, our hearts have not burned within us as we have heard His Word. We have not trusted in His redeeming power, and have been overcome of evil. We have forgotten the glad tidings of His victory over death, and have not known the things that belong to our peace. Mercifully restore unto us the joy of Your salvation, for Jesus Christ s sake, our only Mediator and Advocate. - 2 -

Order of Worship for the Home The Week of July 16, 2017 Call to Worship (everyone together) Praise All Your works shall give thanks to You, O LORD, and all Your saints shall bless You! They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and tell of Your power. Consecration (read or sing these words together) Please see the choir anthem text on page three and sing it to the familiar hymn Take My Life and Let It Be Consecrated. Hearing and Learning God s Word Scripture Reading 1 Peter 5.7 (one person read the Scripture aloud) Questions for Discussion (may be answered in one worship time or spread over several times) 1. What have you worried about this week? Why have you worried about it? 2. How do you know if you are anxious? Does your body tell you? Your thoughts? Your friends and family? 3. Why is it important that we name our fears instead of pretending they don t exist? 4. Can you imagine taking your anxieties and fears into your hands, and handing them over to God? What do you think God would do or say to you? (Hint: read Matthew 11.28-30) 5. How does anxiety present an opportunity to be more closely connected with God? Scripture Memory for July (memorize this passage of Scripture this month) 1 Peter 5.10-11 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 To Him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen. Prayer Prayer (saying together) Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil; for Thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen. - 9 -
