KONA BAPTIST CHURCH Aloha Church Family: A NOTE FROM PASTOR DEAN: One of the most difficult ministry challenges of all is saying goodbye to a Church family you have loved and been loved by. There are no words to express the feelings Rhonda and I hold for you. I pray the Holy Spirit who lives in each of us may somehow carry the depths of our love from our hearts to yours. As we have accepted the call to Arizona, we have fully come to embrace it as God s will. We also look to the future as we serve there, as well as remain connected with the mission work of KBC and partnering in planting a church in South Kona. We praise God in that doing Kingdom work always brings people back together. I will depart Kona Baptist Church confident of several things: First, you are an awesome Church and God has great plans for you. Your obedience to our Lord through the years has brought you to a place of abundant fruitfulness. I believe your impact for His Kingdom can be even stronger in the days to come than in the days gone by. Second, the path ahead is clear. Even though you must now resolve a question of new pastor leadership, there is in no way a leadership void in this great Church. The Admin team, Deacons and lay leadership are prepared to pursue and fulfill the plans which God has put in the heart of this congregation. You have a vision, you have physical plans, ministry plans, financial plans and spiritual plans. Follow them in God s power and watch and see what He will yet accomplish! Finally, more than anything, I am confident of the love you have for our Lord and for one another. And I am even more confident of the love He has for you. My prayer is that, if there is any legacy from my years of service at Kona Baptist Church, it will be a deep awareness of the power of God to change our lives and to change the world, by starting right here in our own community, town and state. You will always remain in my heart and in my prayers. Now remain in Christ, knowing that He will remain in you. John 15:4 Please know that we will continue to pray for you at 8:08 day and night. You are loved, Pastor Dean and Rhonda Our Mission: Kona Baptist Church is a Bible teaching, Bible preaching Church. We are a Southern Baptist congregation, ministering to the spiritual needs of the Kailua-Kona, Captain Cook, Kealakekua and surrounding areas of the Big Island in Hawaii. We seek to glorify God by reaching out to people with the love of Christ and the Good News, ministering to the needs of the church, providing opportunities for people to grow in Christ, encouraging and promoting interdependent relationships with one another, glorifying and celebrating God s presence together. 78-7156 Puuloa Road, Kailuaa-Kona, HI 96740 - Office Hours: Mon-Fri 9am - 2pm Office: 322-3355 Fax: 322-6709 Pastor Dean s Cell: 265-9667 Email: konabaptist@hawaii.rr.com Website: konabaptist.org Prayer Requests: kbcprayerline@hawaii.rr.com

KBC Transition During this transition time, there will be three teams who will be heavily active. A list and description of each team is provided below: Deacon Body (Ministry of our Church) The Dean Body is concerned with the spiritual health of our congregations and meet the needs of those who my have special needs on an ongoing basis, especially in the absence of a Pastor. Please do not hesitate to call any of our Deacons if you have a need or concern. Admin Team (Adhoc* Committee) At our special-called business meeting on June 26th, 2017, we elected an adhoc* committee that would help manage the day to day business and workings of the Church as we transition from one Pastor to another. The team has been voted on and are as follows: AJ Howery, Bill Abell, Brian Smart, Ed Heistermann, Jennifer Lacy, Linda Allen and Sheila Academia. This team will get together in the next week and will appoint 5 working members of the team and 2 alternates. The alternates will be expected to be at every meeting and offer up any advice but will not be a voting member. The team will also elect a chairperson and secretary to manage the affairs of the Church and keep record of meetings. Pulpit Committee (Adhoc* Committee) The Church has presently sent out a check list of Church members that will be voted on to work with the Pulpit Committee. The Church is asked to choose the top ten candidates and send seat to the Church office. Jennifer Lacy will compile the results and present the top 10 candidates. From those selected, we will contact the candidates and based on those who are willing to serve, will note on 5 members to serve with 2 alternates. These alternates will attend every meeting and will pray and offer insights but will not be voting members of the committee. Your selection is important to us. Please pray with discernment as to who you feel should serve on this committee. *Adhoc Committee s are committees that are put together for the purpose of a specific task and disbanded when the task is complete.
