AP World History 2016-2017 Summer Assignment The AP World History course is broken into 6 historical periods. For the purpose of this summer assignment, you will get an introduction to the first three periods. For each period you will label some important places on a blank world map and also define/explain different terms that are specific to that time period. This assignment will be due on the first day of school next year and will be followed by a quiz at the end of the first week. Period 1 8000BCE-600BCE Label where each of the following was located on a blank world map: Mesopotamia Egypt Mohenjo-Daro Shang Olmec Chavin Make notecards that explain the significance of the new technologies listed below. Agricultural Revolution Defensive walls Pastoralism Streets and Roads Iron Weapons Cuneiform Chariots Alphabets Temples Make notecards that detail each of the following religions (each card should have the world region, founder, date, and core beliefs) Vedic Religion Hebrew Monotheism Zoroastrianism

Video Assignment Crash Course World History, found on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=plbda2e52fb1ef80c9) REMEMBER: all rules of writing apply grammar, punctuation, spelling, full sentences. You also need to FULLY answer the question you are asked; and answers are expected to be honors level. What does honors level mean? It means you don t just give an answer of a few words that covers the surface details you go deeper. You go beyond the obvious and you give evidentiary support. Evidentiary support means you give details from the video to support your answer/argument VIEW ALL THREE OF THE FOLLOWING VIDEOS: CCWH Indus River 1. What characteristics make a civilization? 2. How did the Greeks affect YOUR life today???? (Evidentiary support people!!!!!!! You MUST back this answer up!) 2. What were the Persian wars about REALLY.?
