Genesis Reading Plan Welcome to the study of Genesis! Each day will focus on a passage of Scripture from the book of Genesis. For the full experience, we invite you to read the daily reading before reading the First 5 teaching for that day. Day 1 Reading: Genesis 1 Major Moment: God created the world light and dark, sea and sky, earth, animals, mankind. Day 2 Reading: Genesis 2 Major Moment: God rests on the seventh day. Day 3 Reading: Genesis 3 Major Moment: Sin is introduced to the world for the first time when Adam and Eve disobey God. Day 4 Reading: Genesis 4 Major Moment: Cain kills his brother Abel, and Eve gives birth to Seth and Enoch. Day 5 Reading: Genesis 5 Major Moment: Genealogy from Adam to Noah. Day 6 Reading: Genesis 6 Major Moment: God plans to destroy mankind by flood but gives instruction to Noah to save his family by building an ark. Day 7 Reading: Genesis 7 Major Moment: The flood begins. Day 8 Reading: Genesis 8 Major Moment: The flood ends. Day 9 Reading: Genesis 9 Major Moment: God covenants with Noah that He will never again flood the earth and places a rainbow in the sky as a sign of the covenant.

Day 10 Reading: Genesis 10 Major Moment: The descendants of Noah s sons. Day 11 Reading: Genesis 11 Major Moment: The Tower of Babel. Day 12 Reading: Genesis 12 Major Moment: God speaks a blessing over Abram and his descendants as He promises the land of Canaan to them. Day 13 Reading: Genesis 13 Major Moment: Abram and his nephew Lot go separate ways. Day 14 Reading: Genesis 14 Major Moment: Abram s first rescue of Lot. Day 15 Reading: Genesis 15 Major Moment: God confirms His covenant with Abram. Day 16 Reading: Genesis 16 Major Moment: Sarai s maidservant, Hagar, gives birth to Ishmael. Day 17 Reading: Genesis 17 Major Moment: Abram and Sarai become Abraham and Sarah and Isaac s birth is promised. Day 18 Reading: Genesis 18 Major Moment: God appeared in human flesh to Abraham. Day 19 Reading: Genesis 19 Major Moment: Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and the incest between Lot and his daughters. Day 20 Reading: Genesis 20 Major Moment: Abraham deceives Abimelek by saying Sarah is his sister and God intervenes.

Day 21 Reading: Genesis 21 Major Moment: The birth of Isaac, Hagar and Ishmael sent away, peace with Abimelek. Day 22 Reading: Genesis 22 Major Moment: God asks Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac on Mount Moriah. Day 23 Reading: Genesis 23 Major Moment: The burial of Sarah. Day 24 Reading: Genesis 24 Major Moment: The servant finds Rebekah, Isaac s wife. Day 25 Reading: Genesis 25 Major Moment: Jacob tricks his brother, Esau, into giving him the birthright in exchange for a bowl of soup. Day 26 Reading: Genesis 26 Major Moment: Isaac settles in Gerar. Day 27 Reading: Genesis 27 Major Moment: Rebekah and Jacob scheme to steal Esau s birthright. Day 28 Reading: Genesis 28 Major Moment: Jacob flees from home, Esau takes a pagan wife, and Jacob s ladder dream Day 29 Reading: Genesis 29 Major Moment: Jacob marries Leah and Rachel. God opens Leah s womb, but Rachel was barren. Leah gives birth to four sons: Reuben, Simeon, Levi and Judah. Day 30 Reading: Genesis 30 Major Moment: Rachel s jealousy is revealed.

Day 31 Reading: Genesis 31 Major Moment: Jacob returns to Canaan with his wives and children. Day 32 Reading: Genesis 32 Major Moment: Jacob wrestles with God, and God changes Jacob s name to Israel. Day 33 Reading: Genesis 33 Major Moment: Jacob and Esau are reconciled. Day 34 Reading: Genesis 34 Major Moment: Jacob returns to Canaan with his wives and children. Day 35 Reading: Genesis 35 Major Moment: Jacob settles in Bethel and builds an altar to the Lord. Day 36 Reading: Genesis 36 Major Moment: Esau s family line is listed. Day 37 Reading: Genesis 37 Major Moment: Joseph's brothers sell him to Midianite slave traders. Day 38 Reading: Genesis 38 Major Moment: The union of Judah and Tamar produced Perez and Zerah from which Jesus lineage can be traced. Day 39 Reading: Genesis 39 Major Moment: Joseph is sent to prison after Potiphar s wife makes false claims that he tried to rape her. Day 40 Reading: Genesis 40 Major Moment: Joseph interprets dreams in prison.

Day 41 Reading: Genesis 41 Major Moment: Joseph interprets Pharaoh s dreams, and Joseph s rise to power. Day 42 Reading: Genesis 42 Major Moment: Joseph s brothers go to Egypt for grain. Day 43 Reading: Genesis 43 Major Moment: Joseph s brothers return to Egypt with Benjamin. Day 44 Reading: Genesis 44 Major Moment: Joseph s silver cup is found in Benjamin s bag and Judah pleads for mercy on his behalf. Day 45 Reading: Genesis 45 Major Moment: Joseph reveals his identity to his brothers and sends for his father, Jacob, to come to Egypt. Day 46 Reading: Genesis 46 Major Moment: Jacob s journey to Egypt and Jacob s family arrives in Goshen. Day 47 Reading: Genesis 47 Major Moment: Joseph blesses his family and preserves Egypt. Day 48 Reading: Genesis 48 Major Moment: God passes on the covenant promise to the next generation through Jacob's blessing. Day 49 Reading: Genesis 49 Major Moment: Jacob blesses his sons and then he passes away. Day 50 Reading: Genesis 50 Major Moment: Joseph reconciles with his brothers after the death of their father, Jacob.
