Retirement Fund for Religious Please give to those who have given a lifetime. Elderly religious need your help. The religious pictured here represent more than 32,000 senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests living in the United States. Through prayer, love, and sacrifice, they established Catholic schools, hospitals, and more. Yet years of serving for little or no pay have left a shortage in retirement funding. Your gift helps their religious communities furnish necessities such as medications and nursing care. It also helps ensure younger members can continue the good works of their elders. Please be generous. My sister was to be a nun, and I was to be a mother, says Notre Dame Sister Mary Ann Hanson (foreground), 79, but God had other plans. For 61 years, she has joyfully followed those plans. Today, she remains active by visiting the sick and knitting blankets for children rescued from human trafficking. Roughly 94 percent of donations aid senior religious. retiredreligious.org To give at your parish: Make your check payable to your parish. (Write RFR on the memo line.) Corpus Christi University Parish Parish Survey Update (Last in a series) Fellow Parishioners: This continues the more in-depth look at the strategic plan being developed based on the survey feedback. Strategic Plan Background Corpus Christi s strategic plan is designed to support and advance the two major areas guiding parish activities; 1) the Parish Mission, and 2) the Six Pillars of Campus Ministry. Strategic Plan Below is an explanation of the Pillars 6 & the specific one dealing with Communications, the strategic plan goal to support the respective pillar, a list of activities the parish does now, followed by a list of new ideas and activities based on the survey feedback. Pillar 6: Developing Leaders for the Future The parish develops disciples of Jesus to carry out the responsibility of offering personal witness in the culture, realizing that the gifts and talents bestowed on the university students and permanent community members are not given simply for personal advantage but for the benefit of others and for the good of society and the Church. Strategic Plan Goal Pillar 6: Developing Leaders for the Future The parish will invite and engage its members to assume leadership positions in the various ministries of the parish, thus sharing their time and talent for the betterment of the community. Current Parish Activities: Christian Leadership Program, Newman Board of Catholic Student Association, Liturgical Ministries, Dinner and Hospitality Leaders, Walk for Water Suggested/New Parish Activities: extending leadership opportunities for parishioners to lead existing and new programs supporting the strategic plan, create leadership coordinator, send students to student leadership conference Communications Pillar: The parish will engage in effective communications strategies and activities to its members and establish and implement a communications plan to better support the mission and ministry of the parish. Strategic Plan Goal Communications Pillar: The parish will maximize the avenues of communication including: website and social media, weekly bulletin (encouraging people to take it home), electronic (email) communication program, effective verbal announcements. Current Parish Activities: Website, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Weekly Bulletin, Mass Announcements, Bulletin Boards Suggested/New Parish Activities: Constant Contact E-mail to parish members, printed announcements, updates of strategic plan and activities Please review all these existing and new activities as opportunities to support or participate in, or to help organize and lead. Don t hesitate to ask questions, learn more or offer other suggestions and ideas. As we continue to develop and implement the strategic plan, I pray that all of us will become more engaged with our time, talent and treasure as we help advance the mission of the parish over the next few years and make Corpus Christi a better and stronger faith community in the future. Sincerely, Dick Kaverman Chair, Pastoral Council
