Interfaith Community Thanksgiving Service An interfaith Service of Thanksgiving, led by clergy of the Christian, Jewish and Muslim faiths, will be held at Faith United Church of Christ, 1300 Maple Rd., Williamsville, on Monday, Nov. 19, at 7:00 p.m. A reception will be held immediately following the service to provide an opportunity to meet and greet one another. Update on Family Justice Center Satellite The Family Justice Center Northtowns Satellite Group met on October 30 th at Calvary Episcopal Church, represented by members from several area churches and organizations, six of whom were from NPC. The group was unanimous in its support for the formation of a Northtowns Satellite for FJC. The group discussed steps needed to further the project; as a result, a task group has been formed to explore possible locations for a satellite. The next meeting of the group will be Tuesday, November 27 th at 7 PM at the Southtowns Satellite in Orchard Park so that the group can see first hand what a satellite office would look like. Update from the Mission Committee Thank you all for your generosity and support of agencies during Alternative Marketplace. We were asked if there were options for support to victims of Hurricane Sandy. There are. Next month our Christmas Offering will be sent in full to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) to be put into a special account created for the long-term recovery from Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath. Feel free to make your Christmas Offering early and the donations will be sent directly to PDA. In addition, the following decisions have been made regarding funds remaining in our 2012 mission budget: $1000 has been sent to the PDA Team for the Stony Point Conference Center, which is housing more than 100 Hurricane Sandy victims; $1000 has been sent to the Mennonite Central Committee to provide aid to Syrian refugees; $1000 has been sent to the local chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America to be used for postage to send care packages to American soldiers overseas. Our annual report will provide detailed information on the distribution of all mission funds.
