Hamilton Smith CALL TO WORSHIP ONE: MANY: ONE: MANY: ALL: Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come into His presence with singing. Know that the Lord is God. It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Let us worship our God. HYMN No. 367 GREETING Come, Ye Thankful People, Come ST. GEORGE S WINDSOR Dr. Mann PRAYER OF CONFESSION Gracious Creator, you have given us so much, but too often we take those gifts for granted, or as something to which we are entitled. You call us to live in caring community, but too often we place our wants and needs first, with those of others a distant second. You call us to share Your gifts with the world around us, but we are worried that there may not be enough, and our worrying gets in the way of our sharing. For all the times when we mistreat and misuse Your gifts, for all the times we assume that we get what we have by ourselves, forgive us and lead us back to the path of wisdom. Thanks be to God. SERMON Taking Life for Granted Dr. Mann HYMN No. 336 We Gather Together KREMSER (During the Sermon Hymn, students in Grades 3-12 will depart for Sunday School) AFFIRMATION OF FAITH-from the Scots Confession When the fullness of time came God sent his Son, his eternal wisdom, the substance of his own glory, into this world, who took the nature of humanity from the substance of a woman, a virgin, by means of the Holy Spirit. And so was born the just seed of David, the Angel of the great counsel of God, the very Messiah promised, whom we confess and acknowledge to be Emmanuel, true God and true humanity, two perfect natures united and joined in one person.

RESPONDING TO THE WORD CELEBRATIONS AND CONCERNS Dr. Mann PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE LORD S PRAYER debts/debtors EXCHANGE OF PEACE OFFERING OFFERTORY A Harvest Anthem Malcolm Archer The Overbrook Choir God in such love for us lent us this planet, gave it a purpose in time and in space: small as a spark from the fire of creation, cradle of life and the home of our race. Thanks be to God for its bounty and beauty, life that sustains us in body and mind: plenty for all, if we learn how to share it, riches undreamedof to fathom and find. Long have our human wars ruined its harvest; long has earth bowed to the terror of force; long have we wasted what others have need of, poisoned the fountain of life at its source. Earth is the Lord's: it is ours to enjoy it, ours, as God's stewards, to farm and defend. From its pollution, misuse, and destruction, good Lord deliver us, world without end! Gingerbread houses will be ready to be decorated after dinner. There is no charge for the meal but we do take a free will offering to cover expenses. Volunteers are needed to set-up, serve, shop and clean-up and/or contribute cookies for dessert. An online sign-up sheet will also be sent via OPC Listserve. For questions, please contact Judy Williamson at judymwill@gmail.com or 610-687-6761. Thank you. Everyone is invited to come join Peter Seidel, art teacher and Overbrook member, to consider the reason for the season! If you ve not experienced this tour (or take a second tour) hope you won t miss it.
