SCRIPTURE MEMORY VERSE CHALLENGE WEEK 8 We invite you to share one of your favorite scripture verses with us. It should be one verse (two maximum), so we can encourage each other to memorize it. Email your name and verse to the church office (pumc2@verizon.net), and we will put one verse each week in the Sunday bulletins in the order they are received. We will also share the verse in the echimes that week. If we receive duplicate verses at the same time, then we ll put all the names of the persons who like that verse. If a verse has already been printed, then you will be asked to submit another favorite one. Enjoy the challenge and be blessed in the sharing of God s word. Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you. (1Peter 5:7-NRSV) -Chela Lewis HOW TO PRAY ALOUD AND ALONE Do you ever pass the buck when family or friends ask you to say a blessing over a meal? Have you ever panicked when asked to lead a group in prayer? If so, then this is a group for you. If you are comfortable in prayer, come explore how you can go deeper. Pastor Mernie will lead a study to teach you the basics of how to pray. Adults and youth are welcome, so bring the family. The $15 workbook is recommended but not mandatory. Families can share it. Join us Wednesday nights at 7:00pm on November 2, November 9, and November 16 for the first sessions. Email the church office, pumc2@verizon.net, to sign up and indicate whether or not you will purchase a workbook. Over the next few classes, we'll be wrapping up our discussion. We're taking suggestions for bible studies or Christian themed books that we could begin in early October. Is there an author you enjoy: James Moore, Adam Hamilton? Does the bible really say "God helps those who help themselves?" Is there a particular book of the bible you'd like to examine in greater depth? Send your questions and/or recommendations to Andy Lentz: alentz11@verizon.net.
