SPEAKERS Shaykh Yusuf Badat Shaykh Yusuf Badat is the main Imam and 'Director of Religious Affairs' at the Islamic Foundation of Toronto. Shaykh Yusuf Badat also serves as a teacher for Arabic, Islamic Studies, Quranic Studies and World Religions at the Islamic Foundation School. Shaykh Yusuf Badat has served as Imam since 1999 at Masjid Anwarul Islam of Malton (Masjid Saliheen) in Mississauga, Canada. He has also been an instructor at the Toronto Shariah Program and the Uloom Program. Shaykh Yusuf Badat is the founder and director of Mathabah Foundation. He is an active executive member of the Canadian Council of Muslim Theologians CCMT. He lives in Toronto with his wife and two children. Shaykh Yusuf Badat was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He has studied under some great scholars, receiving several formal authorizations in the sacred sciences with top honors. His commitment to the sacred sciences began early in his life when Allah blessed him with the ability, by age 14, to complete the memorization of the Holy Quran. He completed a rigorous 6-year Alim course at Darul Uloom Zakariya, South Africa where he achieved his masters in the Islamic sciences, which included but was not limited to, language, exegesis (tafseer) and jurisprudence (fiqh). He earned authorizations in Hadith under the Grand Mufti of South Africa- Shaykh Radha-ul-Haq. Shaykh Yusuf Badat is an Ontario registered minister of religion & licensed marriage officer. He also holds a diploma in Network Administration from the Toronto School of Business.

Shaikh Abdool Hamid B.A. in Islamic Studies (Major in Hadith Studies) Born in Guyana, South America Graduated from Madina University; specialized in Hadith Studies Currently a resident scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto Serves as an Islamic Counsellor with the Islamic Social Services and Resource Association (Toronto). Regular Khateeb and lecturer at several prominent mosques in and around Toronto Taught the following courses at the IIT 1. Arabic Language Certificate Program 2. Science of the Qur'an 3. Science of Hadith; Hadith methodology 4. Fiqh of Ibaadaat (Salaah, Zakah, Hajj, Fasting) 5. Seerah of the Prophet 6. Lives of the Khulafaa ar Rashidoon 7. Inheritance Laws 8. Qur'an Memorization and Tajweed Shaikh Abdool Hamid is also the spiritual guide for the IIT Hajj group which takes more than 75 Hujjaj every year to Makkah. He also presents a bi-weekly Tafseer session at the IIT on the second and fourthn Saturdays of every month. Shaikh Abdool Hamid is married and has six children. He lives in Toronto, Canada. Sheikh Ashraf Baddar From Sayeda Khadija Centre in Mississauga He is the Principal of Alif Lam Mim Academy He is a graduate of Preachers Preparation Institute in Egypt under the supervision of Al-Azhar University Scholars. He has a bachelor s degree in Islamic Studies. He teaches Tajweed Al-Quran, Tafheem Al-Quran, Tafseer Al-Quran, Seerah and Islamic Principles.

Shaikh Hamid Slimi Dr. Hamid Slimi is Imam, Resident Scholar and Founder of Sayeda Khadija Centre. He has been serving as an Imam, Chaplain, Educator and Consultant in Canada for over 14 years in different religious and educational institutions. He is also: The Founder and President of Faith of Life Network The current Chairman of the Canadian Council of Imams Lecturer at the Islamic Institute of Toronto Board member of different Interfaith and Community bodies/groups TV Host & Producer of Faith of Life TV Shows and documentaries. Imam Slimi is a scholar who is specialized in Islamic studies and Law as well as Comparative World Religions. He holds two Masters degrees with High Honors in both disciplines from Morocco and the US and a PhD in Islamic Law from the U.K. He received both his traditional and Academic learning in Morocco and attended other renowned institutions and universities in other parts of the world. Imam Slimi has been educated in Arabic, French and English since his early age as a little child. He received intensive training and learning in many Islamic disciplines including Aqeedah, Fiqh, Usul-ul-Fiqh, Maqasid, Tafseer, Seerah, Qur'an and Hadith Sciences. Both His Ijazah and Graduate Shahadat are in Fiqh - Islamic Jurisprudence - and Usul-ul-Fiqh - Fundamentals of Jurisprudence. His extensive research has been in the field of Jurisprudential Rules, the Science of Maqasid (Objectives of Law) as well as al-fiqh al-muqaaran (Comparative Jurisprudence) in the Four Madhabs. Imam Slimi has been representing the Muslim community at many Multi-Faith Councils and in the continuous Interfaith Dialogues. He is also an adviser and consultant for a good number of different local and National institutions. He has authored a few books and many articles in Arabic and English specifically in Usul-al-Fiqh and Muslim Outreach and he wrote a few papers in French mainly in Islamic Jurisprudence. His book published in 2001 and 2002 "Terrorism: An Islamic Perspective" has been widely distributed among thousands of readers in North America and did receive very positive responses and encouragement. To this date, Imam Slimi has hosted and produced over 200 TV Shows and over 200 DVDs and hundreds of CDs on different subjects related to faith and life matters. Imam Slimi lectures mainly in English, French and Arabic. He can also speak and lecture in a few other languages. He appears occasionally as a guest and consultant on local and national TV networks both in English and French and has his own weekly TV Show which he has been airing all over Canada and other countries continuously for more than four years now.

YOUTH SPEAKERS Surayya Khan Currently a third year student at the University of Toronto, Scarborough Campus, Surayya is doing a Specialist in Political Science, and a major in Public Policy Co-op. She is also the Coordinator for UTSC MSA's 'The Message' newsletter where she helped manage a team of dedicated writers and designers to create seasonal newsletters and other creative projects. Apart from these activities, she loves to volunteer and serve others, as well as taking occasional classes in Islamic studies. In her spare time she can be found blogging and reading. Surayya is also a dedicated volunteer at the IIT. Arshad Machher Arshad Machher recently completed his B.B.A from University of Toronto in Business Management with a minor in Religion. He is currently pursuing a designation in Chartered Accountancy. In addition to his University education, he is also practising in Real Estate Consultancy specializing in investment properties. Arshad is now currently enrolled in his second year of Islamic Studies in Al-Kauthar Institute's Students Guild, and is also in his second year of study with Abu Taubah in his Ultimate Arabic program. Suleiman Furmli Suleiman completed elementary school at the Islamic Foundation of Toronto School. He completed a Bachelors of Science (BSc) from the University of Toronto and is now in his first year of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Kamil Abdullah Born in Makkah, Kamil completed high school at Lester B. Pearson Collegiate and hifz at the Islamic Foundation. He is currently in his third year at the University of Toronto, Scarborough where he is pursuing a degree in Life Sciences. Kamil is also enrolled in Arabic Language programs at the Islamic Institute of Toronto and leads the prayer here in the absence of the regular scholars. Kamil assists in teaching at the Islamic Foundation of Toronto's Sunday School program and with its annual Qiraat-ul-Qur'an Competition.
