Welcome to Big Bethel AME Church Atlanta 10:00AM Worship Service Sunday, April 29, 2018 The Organ Prelude......... Phillip Skerrett, Jr. The Processional........Ministers, Stewards, Choir and Acolytes The Doxology........A.M.E. Hymn No. 647 Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him all creatures here below; Praise Him above ye heavenly host, Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. The Call to Worship Minister: I was glad when they said to me, Let us go into the house of the Lord! Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem! (Psalm 122:1-2) For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. (Psalm 84:10) Minister: For the sake of the house of the Lord our God; I will seek your good. (Psalm 122:9) They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God. Minister: O Lord, I love the habitation of your house, and the place where your glory dwells. But the Lord is in His holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before him. (Habakkuk 2:20) Minister: Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:14) All: O sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things! I will sing of loyalty and of justice, to you, O Lord, I will sing. (Psalm 98:1,4) The Hymn of Praise. A.M.E. Hymn #53 - Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah 1. Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah, Pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but you are mighty; Hold me with your powerful hand. Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more. 2. Open now the crystal fountain, whence the healing waters flow. Let the fire and cloudy pillar Lead me all my journey through. Strong Deliverer, Be Thou still my strength and shield. Strong Deliverer, Be Thou still my strength and shield. 3. When I tread the verge of Jordan, bid my anxious fears subside. Bear me through the swelling current, Land me safe on Canaan's side. Songs of praises, I will ever give to Thee, Songs of praises, I will ever give to Thee, Amen Invocation The Choral Response Family & Friends Day The Worship Through Music Worship Ensemble The Responsive Scripture... John 15:1-8 Minister: 1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. 2 He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. 2 Big Bethel A.M.E. Church

The Responsive Scripture (continued).. John 15:1-8 Minister: 3 You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. Minister: 5 I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. 6 Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. Minister: 7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. ALL: 8 My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples. The Preface to the Decalogue........(in the tune of #258) The Summary of the Decalogue From all that dwell below the skies, let the Creator s praise arise; let the Redeemer s name be sung, through every land by every tongue. And Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.
