Welcome to all who are worshipping today, especially any visitors who are with us Welcome This is the first edi on of the bulle n for the newly formed Barossa North Lutheran Parish. Pastor David and I have worked on a format and this is but the beginning! We would like to hear from you any sugges ons you may have, any addi ons that we should consider and any presenta on aspects that can be enhanced. Undoubtedly, there will be some changes in these early weeks. For one thing, we have assumed the suggested name - it is yet to be agreed upon by the whole parish. We listed the congrega ons in a par cular order. Can you guess how we arrived at this order? A logo has been chosen - for now! It serves a double purpose - a reminder of the sacraments which are so central to our worship life, and, as symbols of the major industries of the region, vines and grain. Please feel encourage to use any ar s c flair with which God has blest you. In future bulle ns, we hope to use this front space for a brief message, either words or art, so that it can be a source of medita on, reflec on and support.

Scripture urges us to receive the Sacrament worthily. Those who receive the Sacrament worthily are those who are baptised, repent of their sin, trust in Jesus Christ as their only Saviour, believe in his real presence in the Sacrament and intend to lead a holy life in obedience to God s Word. In Holy Communion, we are united with Christ and with one another. By communing together, we say: We are one in our faith. We believe and confess the same things about Jesus Christ and his Supper. If you are not a member of the Lutheran Church and you have questions about attending the Lord s Supper, please arrange to speak to Pastor prior to attending.
Psalm of the Day: Psalm 29 P: Ascribe to the Lord, O mighty ones, C: ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. P: Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; C: worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. P: The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, C: the Lord thunders over the mighty waters. P: The voice of the Lord is powerful; C: the voice of the Lord is majestic. P: The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; C: the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. P: He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, C: Sirion like a young wild ox. P: The voice of the Lord strikes C: with flashes of lightning. P: The voice of the Lord shakes the desert; C: the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh. P: The voice of the Lord twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. C: And in his temple all cry, Glory! P: The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; C: the Lord is enthroned as King forever. P: The Lord gives strength to his people; C: the Lord blesses his people with peace. Prayer of the Day: Let us pray that we live as God's baptised children. (brief silence) Loving Father, you anointed Jesus at his baptism with the Holy Spirit, and revealed him as your dear Son. Thank you for making us your children by water and the Spirit. Keep us faithful to you throughout our lives. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Barossa North Lutheran Parish: As indicated on the front page, this is the first Bulletin of the newly formed parish, currently known as the Nuriootpa Lutheran Parish. Pastor Wally and Pastor David have made some progress on service arrangements and work will continue. The draft service plan for Strait Gate, Holy Trinity, Neukirch and Ebenezer will largely continue for the present and services for the other four congregations are still to be planned, but these will in large measure also follow the previous schedule. For the next two weeks, those services will be as follows: Sunday 14th Jan: Immanuel LP 9:00 am LR; Stockwell 9:00 am HC Dutton, 10:30; Truro, 9:00 am Pastor V. Kleinig Sunday 21st Jan: Immanuel LP 9:00 am HC - Parish Service with final AGM of the dissolved Immanuel Parish; Truro, 10:30 am HC. The current office at Immanuel Light Pass is being spruced up a little (it was time to change the 70 s carpet!) and will become the parish base for the foreseeable future. This means that phone numbers and email addresses as given on the front page of the Bulletin will remain for the time being. Planning will now take place to determine future email addresses and internet access which will need to be upgraded in any event in view of the coming National Broadband Network. It is likely that a wireless network will be the best option.
