CHURCH DOCTRINAL STATEMENT Published 2006 Copyright VICTORY FAITH CENTRE P.O. BOX 863 GEELONG 3220 AUSTRALIA VICTORY FAITH CENTRE INC.

1. Introduction. This doctrinal statement shall form the basis for all preaching and teaching conducted at Victory Faith Centre Inc. This statement is not a complete inventory of all the doctrines a Christian may have but is a statement of the doctrines that must be adhered to by Elders and Victory Faith Centre Inc ministries, and must form the basis of discipleship for all attending Victory Faith Centre Inc. There is adequate scope to preach and teach on other Biblical matters as long as there is no contradiction to this doctrinal statement. The doctrinal basis, outlined... shall never be altered as long as Victory Faith Centre Inc exists. All Elders are to abide by and defend this basis. All preaching and teaching must be done in a manner that does not contradict this basis. Titus 1:3, 4; Heb. 1:8), and the Holy Ghost is rightly referred to as God (Acts 5:3, 4; 1 Cor. 12:4 6). God is distinct from His creation of the universe and everything in it. 3. The Inerrancy of the Word of God. God has placed His pure and perfect Word (i.e. Scripture) in the Earth in written form (2 Tim. 3:16), and has providentially preserved it and will continue to providentially preserve it throughout human history (Ps. 12:6, 7; John 12:48). God has promised that His Word would be pure (Ps. 12:6; Ps. 119:140), truthful (Ps. 119:160; John 17:17) and perfect (Ps. 19:7; Matt. 5:18). His every Word matters (Matt. 4:4; John 10:35) and is the basis for Christian faith (Rom. 10:17; 2 Pet. 1:4). This Word is known as the Holy Bible. 2. The Nature of God. God is the one infinite and perfect being (Matt. 5:48b), who has been, is and will be existent for all eternity (Exod. 3:14), omnipresent (Ps. 139:7, 8), omnipotent (Gen. 18:14; Matt. 19:26), omniscient (Ps. 147:5; Heb. 4:13) and immutable (Mal. 3:6), and who has displayed His attributes to mankind (Isa. 45:21 24) by being holy, righteous, just, good (i.e. loving, kind, merciful, gracious) and truthful. He has revealed Himself as triune (Gen. 1:26; 1 John 5:7), meaning that there are three eternal distinctions in the one divine essence, known respectively as Father, Son and Holy Ghost (Matt. 28:19b). Each Person in the Trinity is coeternal and coequal, so that the Father is rightly referred to as God (2 Cor. 1:2, 3), the Son is rightly referred to as God (John 1:1; John 8:58; John 20:28; Acts 20:28; 1 Tim. 3:16; 3. 1. The pure and perfect Word of God in English is the 1611 Authorised King James Version of the Bible and is to be used in all public reading, preaching, teaching, discipling and training at Victory Faith Centre Inc. Its status as the Word of God in English has been substantiated through (this list not being exhaustive): (1) historical evidences the Authorised Version is based on the Majority Text (also known as the Textus Receptus), which agrees with the majority of all Greek manuscripts available, and the Hebrew Massoretic Text. (2) internal evidences the Authorised Version has perfect meter, meticulous structure and word-for-word correlation between the original languages and English. It has been

praised as the pinnacle of English literature for the past four centuries. (3) external evidences the Authorised Version has had more influence on the mankind than any other document in history. (4) the deficiency of all other possibilities all modernist versions of the Bible show clear corruption through internal contradictions, missing verses and words, depraved changes, unholy basis in translation, and lack of power to influence mankind for God. Also, all other literature posing as the Word of God in other religions shows clear signs of depraved and devilish origins, and thus not as being from God. 4. Faith. [F]aith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Heb. 11:1). Faith comes through the hearing of the Word of God (Rom. 10:17), being evidenced by simple trust that what God has said is true and action upon this fact. Without faith it is impossible to please God (Heb. 11:6) and whatever is not of faith is sin (Rom. 14:23). Salvation is through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:8, 9). In order to appropriate God s promises, all Christians are required to walk by faith (2 Cor. 5:7), speak (i.e. confess the Word of God) in faith (Mark 11:22, 23; Rom. 10:8; 2 Cor. 4:13) and pray in faith (James 1:6, 7). 5. Salvation. Salvation embraces everything God provided for mankind by the Lord Jesus Christ s sacrifice (Heb. 10:12) on the cross (Gal. 6:14) at Calvary something not available by any other means (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). This includes the mercy of God (1 Pet. 1:3); acceptance into the Father s family (John 1:12); forgiveness of all sin (1 John 1:9); victory over Satan s power (Eph. 1:20 23; Eph. 6:11; James 4:7; 1 Pet. 5:8, 9); healing of spirit, soul and body (1 Pet. 2:24); a complete and free righteousness (Rom. 3:21, 22); abundant and prosperous supply of every need (Phil. 4:19); peace of heart and mind (Isa. 53:5); a part in the resurrection of the righteous (1 Cor. 15:48 55); and a calling to reign in God s Kingdom (Rev. 1:6). 5. 1. All who would come to God must be born again (i.e. a spiritual birth into God s family) to enter into His Kingdom and all of its benefits (John 3:3 8). This requires repentance from all sin (Acts 3:19), a commitment to follow the Lord Jesus Christ and His ways (Acts 2:38; Acts 26:20; John 6:35), and an acceptance of God s free gift of salvation by receiving Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord (John 1:12; Rom. 10:9, 10, 13; Eph. 2:8; 2 Cor. 5:17). By faith, the believer can then be secure in the fact that God has washed away all sin by the blood of Jesus Christ (Rom. 3:25; Rom. 5:9; 1 Pet. 1:19; Eph. 1:7). The believer is called to live a holy life (1 Thess. 4:7) and to appropriate full salvation (1 Thess. 5:23). 5. 2. Healing of spirit, soul and body is in the redemption provided by the Lord Jesus Christ. Sickness is a part of the curse of the law (see Deut. 28:15 68) and is of devilish origins (Acts 10:38; Job 2:7; Mark

1:34; Luke 13:16). The Lord Jesus Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law (Gal. 3:13) and by the stripes that were laid on Him we were healed (1 Pet. 2:24b; Matt. 8:17). Divine healing and health is the children s bread (Matt. 15:26) and is appropriated by faith in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 3:16; Acts 4:30; James 5:15). 5. 3. Prosperity for every part of the believer s life is in the redemption provided by the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 8:9; 2 Pet. 1:3). Poverty is a part of the curse of the law (see Deut. 28:15 68). It is God s will for believers to be prosperous (3 John 2; Josh. 1:7; Ps. 1:3) and rich both spiritually and physically (Deut. 8:18; Gen. 24:1, 35; Gal. 3:29; Rom. 4:13; Ps. 112:3; Prov. 15:6; Matt. 6:33; Mark 10:29, 30). Believers are instructed to use wealth and riches rightly and not to become entangled in worldly gain (Deut. 8:17, 18; Mark 10:23 25; Matt. 13:22). Christians are to be tithers (i.e. apportioning 10% of gross income into the work of the Lord Mal. 3:8 12; Matt. 23:23; Heb. 7:8) and cheerful givers, as the Lord guides, of property and monetary offerings (Luke 6:30, 38; 2 Cor. 9:5 13; Phil. 4:14 19). The local church should lead by example in tithes and offerings. 6. Baptism in Water. Water baptism is an ordinance of the Church required by God for all disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ (Matt. 28:19). Only believers may be baptised (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38), the method being by full immersion of the believer by another believer into a body of water (Acts 8:38, 39; Mark 1:9, 10; John 3:23). Water baptism is a public symbol of the inner work done in a person, that of being raised from spiritual death into life in Christ (Rom. 6:3, 4). Baptism is to be conducted by Elders of Victory Faith Centre Inc upon the discretion of the Senior Pastor and the other Elders as to the genuineness of conversion. 7. Fellowship of the Saints. All believers (i.e. the saints of God) must continue in fellowship with other believers at a local church assembly (2 Thess. 2:1; Heb. 10:25). Those fellowshipping at Victory Faith Centre must do so in unity (1 Cor. 1:9 10) and in agreeance with the Church mission (statement of purposes) to establish the kingdom of God through the propagation of His Word and the discipling of believers to function as the Body of Christ to carry out the will of God on the Earth in the power of the Holy Ghost. An ordinance of God is the requirement of the regular celebration of the Lord s Supper to remember the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 11:23 28). 8. The Baptism of the Holy Ghost and His Gifts. The baptism of the Holy Ghost and His associated gifts are for the operation of the Church in the Earth today. The gifts are needed by the Church until the Lord Jesus Christ returns. 8. 1. The Baptism of the Holy Ghost. The Lord Jesus Christ baptises the believer in the Holy Ghost (Mark 1:8). A person who has gone through this experience is filled with the Holy Ghost (Compare Acts 1:5 with Acts 2:4), having received

the Holy Ghost (Acts 8:17). This is an experience to be differentiated from salvation since its purpose is to open believers to the power realm, so that they can be effective witnesses for God (Acts 1:8). The evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost is speaking in a tongue or language, unknown to the believer speaking, as the Holy Ghost gives utterance (Acts 2:4 11; Acts 10:44 47; 1 Cor. 14:14, 15) [i.e. the Holy Ghost supplies the words, not man]. Believers should continue to be filled with the Spirit (Eph. 5:18b) by regularly praying in tongues, which bypasses the mental realm, so that a person s spirit is praying (1 Cor. 14:2, 14, 15). 8. 2. The Gifts of the Holy Ghost. According to His will, the Holy Ghost gives gifts to believers for the edification of the Body of Christ, the Church (1 Cor. 12:1 31). Nine of the Holy Ghost s manifold gifts are listed in 1 Cor. 12:8 10. God wants believers to desire the gifts and to operate them according to His Word (1 Cor. 12:31; 1 Cor. 14:12; Mark 16:17 20). Care must be taken to operate the gifts in an orderly and decent manner (1 Cor. 14:33, 40). In particular, the gift of divers kinds of tongues is not to be used in a public way in a church congregation without its corresponding gift of the interpretation of tongues (1 Cor. 14:5, 27, 28) thus, without interpretation, unknown tongues are to be spoken only to [one]self and to God (1 Cor. 14:28b), not to the entire congregation. The gifts must never contradict the Word of God and must edify the church (1 Cor. 14:12), so judgment by believers as to their validity must be exercised (1 Cor. 14:24, 29). If the Senior Pastor or other Elders of Victory Faith Centre Inc discern that unedifying material is being uttered or done, they may, at the discretion of the Senior Pastor, halt all proceedings pertaining to that utterance or act (Titus 1:10, 11; 1 Tim. 5:20). 9. Creation. God created the entire universe in six, 24 hour days (Gen. 1; Ex. 20:11). There are many indications (eg. Biblical, such as genealogies, and scientific, such as radiohalos) that the Earth is relatively young (thousands of years old), rather than millions of years old as postulated by some scientists through extrapolative methods that have major assumption flaws (eg. radioactive dating methods). Romans 5:12 teaches that there was no death and bloodshed before Adam, the first man. The Book of Genesis must be taken as literal history: the Lord Jesus Christ stated it as such many times (eg. Matt. 19:4 9; Matt. 24:37 39; Luke 16:29 31; John 5:45 47). The naturalistic doctrine of the theory of evolution is an anti-god, religious philosophy, bankrupt of both Biblical and physical evidence as to its so-called occurrence; it is thus to be labelled as a science falsely so called (1 Tim. 6:20b). 10. Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Just as there are many prophecies relating to the first coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, so also are there many prophecies relating to His literal, physical second coming to the planet Earth (Matt. 24:30; John 14:3; Acts 1:11; 2 Thess. 1:7 9). This will be in two stages the first commonly known as the translation (rapture) or catching away of the saints (Matt. 24:39 42; 1 Thess. 4:16, 17) for the purpose of

their judgments and rewards (2 Cor. 5:10), and the second, after the Great Tribulation period on Earth (Matt. 24:21, 22; Rev. 7:14), when the Lord Jesus Christ will return with vengeance (Zech. 14:3 15; Jude 14, 15; Rev. 19:11 21). He will then rule over the Earth for 1000 years (Rev. 20:4 6), after which will be a new heaven and a new earth (Rev. 21:1). 11. Ministry in the Church. Elders in Victory Faith Centre Inc can be either men or women since there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. (Gal. 3:28). The scriptures, 1 Cor. 14:34 36 and 1 Tim. 2:11 15, should not be used to exclude women from ministry at Victory Faith Centre Inc. All Elders and those ministering must meet the conditions of spiritual qualification for ministry as stated in 1 Tim. 3:1 7, Titus 1:5 16 and 1 Pet. 5:1 3. Regardless of age, people group or gender, all members of the Body of Christ can and should develop in ministry, be filled with the Holy Ghost and operate the gifts of the Holy Ghost. HOW TO KNOW THE PURE CAMBRIDGE EDITION OF THE KING JAMES BIBLE It is important to have the correct, perfect and final text of the King James Bible, since there are correctors (e.g. publishers) who have changed some aspects of King James Bible texts. The final form of the King James Bible is the Pure Cambridge Edition (circa 1900), which conforms to the following: 1. or Sheba not and Sheba in Joshua 19:2 2. sin not sins in 2 Chronicles 33:19 3. Spirit of God not spirit of God in Job 33:4 4. whom ye not whom he in Jeremiah 34:16 5. Spirit of God not spirit of God in Ezekiel 11:24 6. flieth not fleeth in Nahum 3:16 7. Spirit not spirit in Matthew 4:1 8. further not farther in Matthew 26:39 9. bewrayeth not betrayeth in Matthew 26:73 10. Spirit not spirit in Mark 1:12 11. spirit not Spirit in Acts 11:28 12. spirit not Spirit in 1 John 5:8
