In the Name of Allah the Most Compassionate Very Merciful All Praise Due to Allah Almighty the Lord of Hazrat Muhammad may Allah send peace and blessings upon him The Hadeeth of NOOR Imam Abdur Razzaaq narrates from Ma mar, from Ibn Al-Munkadir, from Hazrat Jabir, He said, I asked the Messenger of Allah about the first thing that Allah Almighty created. It s the light of your Prophet, O Jabir he may Allah send peace and blessings upon him replied. (Al-Juz Al-Mafqood Min Al-Musannaf Li Abdir Razzaaq p. 63-64) There are three narrators mentioned in this Hadeeth s chain of narrators: 1. Imam Abdur Razzaaq 2. Hazrat Ma mar Ibn Raashid 3. Hazrat Ibn Al-Munkadir Let us examine all the narrators and their authenticity and authority on narrating Hadeeth in order to establish the status of the Hadeeth in the light of the science of Asma Al-Rijaal. 1. Imam Abdur Razzaaq: Imam Abdur Razzaaq is a very reliable and truthful Muhaddith. Imam Ahmad Ibn Saleh asked Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, Do you know of anyone else other than Imam Abdur Razzaaq to be more knowledgeable in the faculty of Hadeeth? He replied, No. 1

(Tahdheeb al-tahdheeb, Vol. 6, p. 311, Meezaan Al-I tidaal Vol. 2, p. 614) Imam Abu Zar ah says, Imam Abdur Razzaaq is amongst the Ulama whose Ahadeeth are trustworthy. (Tahdheeb al-tahdheeb, Vol. 6, p. 311) Imam Abu Bakr narrates from Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal saying, The Ahadeeth which Imam Abdur Razzaaq narrates from Ma mar, are dearer to me than the ones people of Basrah narrate. Imam Yahya Ibn Ma een also regards the Ahadeeth of Imam Abdur Razzaaq, from Ma mar, to be trustworthy. Ya qoob Ibn Shaibah and Ali Ibn Madeeni regard the Imam as trustworthy (Thiqah). The Imam of Al-Jarh Wal-Ta deel (A science dedicated to examining Hadeeth to point out the status of its authenticity) Yahya Ibn Ma een says: ل و ار ت د ع ب د الر ز اق م ا ت ر ک ن ا ح د ی ث ہ We would not abandon the Hadeeth of Imam Abdur Razzaaq (Allah forbid!) even if he (hypothetically speaking) became a disbeliever. (Tahdheeb al-tahdheeb, Vol. 6, p. 314, Meezaan Al-I tidaal Vol. 2, p. 612) Imam Ibn Hajar Asqalaani has written him to be Thiqah and Hafiz 1. (Taqreeb al-tahdheeb, p. 213) 1 A Hafiz in the Hadeeth faculty is the one who has memorized at least one hundred thousand Ahadeeth with their Sanads. 2

Imam Dhahbi has written him to be Thiqah and A famous scholar. (Meezaan Al-I tidaal Vol. 2, p. 609) Imam Dhahbi has considered him as A great Hafiz. (Siyar Al-A laam Wal-Nobala, Vol. 7, p. 117) Apart from the recommendations from the masters of all the Muhaddithneen of all times, there are many other evidences as well which prove his authority in the science of Hadeeth. Imam Abdur Razzaaq has been the major narrator in all the six most authentic Hadeeth collections known as Sihah Sittah, especially in Bukhari and Muslim. There are 120 Ahadeeth, narrated in Bukhari from Imam Abdur Razzaaq, and 50+ amongst them are from Abdur Razzaaq, from Ma mar. There are 289 Ahadeeth narrated in Muslim from Imam Abdur Razzaaq, and amongst thom, 277 are from Abdur Razzaaq, from Ma mar. The biography of Imam Abdur Razzaaq also appears on the pages of the following books: Al-Tabaqaat Al-Kubra Li Ibn Sa d Vol. 5, p. 545 Al-Tareekh Al-Kabeer Lil-Bukhari Vol. 6, p. 130 Al-Jarh Wal-Ta deel Li Ibn Abi Hatim Raazi Vol. 6, p. 38 Kitaab Al-Thiqaat Li Ibn Hibbaan Vol. 8, p. 412 Tadhkiratul Huffaaz Lil-Dhahbi Vol. 2, p. 27 Al-Kamil Li Ibn Adiy Vol. 5, p. 1948 Rijaal Sahih Al-Bukhari Lil-Kalabaadhi Vol. 2, p. 496 Rijaal Sahih Muslim Vol. 2, p. 8 Al-Jam u Bainal-Saheehain Vol. 1, p. 328 Al-Kamil Fi al-tareekh Li Ibn Atheer Vol. 6, p. 406 Al-Tabsirah Vol. 2, p. 270 Tahdheeb Al-Kamaal Lil-Muzzi Vol. 18, p. 52 Al-Bidayah Wal-Nihayah Li Ibn Katheer Vol. 10, p. 265 Sharh Ilal Al-Tirmidhi Li Ibn Rajab Vol. 2, p. 577 Al-Nujoom Al-Zaahirah Vol. 2, p. 202 3

Al-Tareekh Li Ibn Ma een Vol. 2, p. 362 Al- Uyoon Wal-Hadaa iq Vol. 3, p. 371 2. Imam ma mar Ibn raashid: The second narrator in this chain is Hazrat Ma mar Ibn Raashid may Allah be pleased with him who is a very great scholar and Hadeeth master. Imam Dhahbi says, Ma mar Ibn Raashid, the Imam, Hafiz, Shaikh Al-Islam Abu Urwah Ibn Abi Umar, was born in the year 95 or 96 A.H. Imam Dhahbi writes about him, The Imam, Hafiz, Shaikh Al-Islam Abu Abdillah Al-Qarashi Al-Madani, was born after the year 30 A.H. He took Ahadeeth from Hazrat Ayeshah may Allah be pleased with her, Hazrat Abu Hurairah, Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Umar, Hazrat Jabir, Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Abbaas, Hazrat Ibn Zubair, Hazrat Rabee ah Ibn Zubair and his father etc. may Allah be pleased with them and a large number of the great Muhadditheen or Hadeeth Masters have taken Ahadeeth from him. Imam Azam Abu Haneefah, Imam Zohri, Hishaam Ibn Urwah, Moosa Ibn Uqbah, Ibn Juraij, Yahya Ibn Sa eed, Ma mar, Imam Malik, Imam Ja far Sadiq, Imam She bah, Hazrat Sufyan Al-Thauri, Hazrat Uthmaan Uyainah and Imam Auzaa i etc. may Allah be pleased with them took Ahadeeth from him. Alhamdulillah, it has now been proven that the Hadeeth Noor of Sayyiduna Jabir may Allah be pleased with him is Sahih (authentic) and there is no weak link in this Sanad or chain. And Allah Almighty and His Beloved Rasool Know Best! 5
