Page 2 Outreach Opportunities V o lu m e 1, I s s ue 4 For the most up-to-date information on how you can help with ongoing hurricane relief efforts, please visit heartfortexas.com Do you remember Pastor Arthur Rickman who visited LSLC back in 2014, 2015 and shared his missionary plans with us, during our Bible study hour? Good news! All is well with his family and here is an email we recently received about his progress and his current newsletter which talks about ways you can continue to contribute to his ministry. D B S C, "Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind" Ps. 107:8 A Blessed Thanksgiving to you, where ever you may be! As so many celebrate a day of Thanksgiving today in the US, we know that everyday is a day to give thanks to our Lord for the gift of eternal life He has given us in the waters of Holy Baptism and the innumerous things he provides to us each and every day. We are so thankful for all of our faithful supporters and prayer partners. We would also like to thank and welcome all our new supporters who have recently joined our support team. As we continue to build a stronger support base and face funding challenges, please share this newsletter with others. Please consider printing copies for the Narthex, Bible Studies, LWML gatherings, etc., to share the news of what is going on here. Please keep in mind, however, due to the nature of the work done here, please be sure to also request that it not be posted on social media, Facebook, websites, etc. Thank you and God bless you. We CAN T do it without you! Our family prays our Lord s richest blessings as you celebrate Thanksgiving and we rejoice in the message of the true Gospel being shared with so many throughout the world who STILL live in darkness. Thank you for helping us share the light of Christ in such a dark world! In Christ,<>< The Rickman Family: Arthur, Eva, Bethany, Zoe, Noah, Nathaniel, and Baby Please look for printed copies of Pastor Rickman s newsletter in the Fellowship Hall. 2

Page 3 V o lu m e 1, I s s ue 4 M U S I C A L N OT E S F R O M J U DY L, unless some is still stashed in your freezer! We enjoy such an abundance of God s blessings and rarely think how full grocery shelves are not found around the world Time now is to prepare for company! Not by dusting and mopping, but by reflecting in our heads and hearts the things that need to be cleaned out there. Advent (to come) is the perfect time for a deep cleaning of our hearts and heads as we prepare for the celebration of the birth of our Savior. There are cobwebs stuck way deep, and they are stubborn to be released. The only way it can happen is for the Holy Spirit to bring his cleaning tools and take care of things. All that is necessary is for us to be open to His callings to each of us and act on them. THANK YOU to Rick and Mary Schroeder for the gift of a new candle lighter/snuffer for acolyte use! Simple things make life easier and are truly appreciated. MIDWEEK Advent services w ill begin on Wednesday, Dec 6 th. Page 6 N e w s letter : November 2017 LWML News - The first Sunday of the month is Mite Sunday. Leave your mite box and pick up another one or just drop your donation in the large mite box. December Mites Grant - Tanzanian Sewing Center: Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania ($25,000) In southeastern Tanzania, many young women from villages do not attend school or have jobs, and so seek unskilled jobs in larger towns, often ending up involved in prostitution. Some end up with AIDS or unexpected pregnancies, with no means of supporting themselves. The ELCT has established the Bishop Makala Sewing Center to teach young women sewing, life skills, and the Gospel. The ELCT goal is to build classrooms with a 50 student capacity, along with a dormitory. Within one year of training, their sewing skills enable women to have pocket money, purchase a sewing machine, and buy materials to create sewn items to sell for income. Dime Project - We will be collecting dimes from the Dime Project on Sunday, December 3. Don't forget to add 12 dimes for December. Put your dimes in the large red stocking by the mite box. If you haven't been collecting dimes, you can still make a donation. Just drop it in the red stocking. Thanks for your participation in this mission project. School Kits - School supplies for the Lutheran World Relief school kits are still being collected. One section of the large box in the Fellowship Hall is designated for school supplies. As supplies come in, they are bagged and boxed for shipment at Easter. At this time we are in need of 70-sheet notebooks and pencil sharpeners. Dollar Tree has 12 pencil sharpeners for $1. Thanks for your support of the LWML mission projects. 6

Page 7 V o lu m e 1, I s s ue 4 C h u r c h M e a l s M i n i s t r y From time to time we have members who are ill, recovering from surgery or are just unable to prepare a meal for themselves. Please consider signing up and contact Velma Powell at 936-597-6299. A u d i o V i s u a l A s s i s t a n t If you enjoy working with sound equipment and computers, we have an opportunity for you.
