Welcome Dear Senior Pastor Candidate, We would like to invite you to review the enclosed informa on and see if God leads you to consider ministering at Cornerstone Community Church. As a church body, we are praying diligently for our next Senior Pastor. In addi on, we are encouraged by knowing that God is in control, and already at work in the life of His choice of our shepherd and leader among equals. Cornerstone Community Church is a church family with a rich heritage in Nevada. We enjoy a scenic landscape that provides a glimpse of God s majesty; with extraordinary recrea onal opportuni es, a high quality of life and low crime rates. We are confident that God is at work within the Cornerstone community, and in your life as well. If the Holy Spirit is leading you in our direc on, please contact us. In the mean me, please join us in prayer as we pursue God s will in our search. Serving our Lord in Unity, Cornerstone Community Church 2

History new church began in Incline Village, Nevada A in 1987. It was planted as a mission by the First Bap st Church of Carson City, Nevada. The first pastor was Terry Arnold who also pastored in Carson City. He did double duty for both churches un l First Bap st Incline found a pastor. In the fall of 1988, Henry Cannington was named Pastor-Appren ce of First Bap st Church of Incline Village. He was a graduate of New Orleans Bap st Theological Seminary. At that me, the church had 35 charter members. A er mee ng at several small sites, the church moved to the Croom Theatre at Sierra Nevada College. In 1989, the church was formally incorporated (cons tuted) and a covenant was adopted. The congrega on had grown to 53 members. At this me, the church started to pray for land for a church building. In December 1990, the church received a $500,000 gi of 2 acres of land at Country Club and Tahoe Blvd. The donors were not members of the church. On January 1, 1991, Danny Bell came to pastor the church. S ll mee ng at the Sierra Nevada College, the congrega on began to plan the new building. This was the start of many good years of growth and success for the church body in Incline Village. Groundbreaking began on the property on July 31,1994. The congrega on moved into the new church building January 21,1996. Unfortunately, the building proved to be too small from the beginning, par cularly in terms of classrooms. Nevertheless 8 years at the church were filled with growth, gospel preaching, good music and fellowship. Many church events also occurred at the lake with bap sms, barbecues and other special occasions. A er exploring many op ons around the area, it was decided to build again on the same property. This me the building was to be larger and more accommoda ng for church needs. In 2001, it was decided to change the name and affilia on from First Bap st to North Tahoe Community Church. The church was now nondenomina onal. In 2002, the congrega on moved to Incline High School gym for what would be 12 long years. Planning began for the next facility as builders and architects were found and came together as a team. Among these were Jim Costalupes, builder, Doug Eddy, architect and Rick Jackson, electrician. Demoli on began in September 2007. Construc- on began in 2007-2008. Of course, the economic downturn of that period was not helpful to the project. In August 2009, Danny Bell le a er 18 years. It was a blow to the congrega on to lose the Bell family. It cannot be overemphasized that many good things happened in those 18 years. Now the church was faced with a par allyfinished building and no pastor. Many were discouraged and some le. At this me, Eileen May found a church we could partner with un l we got through the storm. Lifepoint Church in Minden helped us survive by sending pastors/ speakers and musicians to assist us. In that group was Craig Fuller who became our next pastor. As a CPA, Craig was well-equipped to help us through the fundraising and building details during this period. He preached and taught from 2010 through October 2013. Bre Franklin assisted him during this me. Bre became our next pastor a er Craig. Bre helped us to open our new building. The church grew under his leadership. It was his idea to rename the church as we were no longer affiliated with Lifepoint. Cornerstone Community Church was named based on scripture of Jesus being the Cornerstone of our church. Bre con nued as Pastor un l November of 2016. It should be men oned that a core group of people have remained faithful during the difficult mes. God has always been faithful and taught us through the trials. We eagerly await the future He has planned with our new pastor. To be con nued 3

Statement of Faith 1.1 The Trinity It is the tes mony of both the Old and New Testaments and of the Chris an Church that God is both One and Triune. The Biblical revela on tes fies that there is only one God and that He is eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. A. God the Father God the Father is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, and He created the universe in love. He created man in His image for fellowship and called man back to Himself through Christ a er the rebellion and fall of man. B. The Son Jesus Christ is eternally God. He was together with the Father and the Holy Spirit from the beginning, and through Him all things were made. For man s redemp on, He le heaven and became incarnate by the Holy Spirit through the virgin Mary; henceforth, He is forever one Christ with two natures God and man in one person. C. The Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit is God, the Lord and giver of life, who was ac ve in the Old Testament and given to the Church in fullness at Pentecost. He empowers the saints for service and witness; cleanses man from the old nature and conforms us to the image of Christ. The bap sm in the Holy Spirit, subsequent to conversion, releases the fullness of the Spirit and is evidenced by the fruits and gi s of the Holy Spirit. 1.2 The Scripture We affirm that the Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments, is alone the only infallible, inspired Word of God, and its authority is ul mate, final and eternal. It cannot be added to, subtracted from or superseded in any regard. The Bible is the source of all doctrine, instruc on, correc on and reproof. It contains all needed for guidance in godliness and prac cal Chris an conduct. 1.3 The Atonement Christ s vicarious death on the cross paid the penalty for the sins of the whole world, but its benefits are only applicable to those who receive Jesus as personal Savior. Healing body, soul and spirit and all of God s provisions for His saints, are provided for all in atonement, but these must be appropriated by faith. 1.4 Salva on The Word of God declares clearly salva on is a free gi of God, based on the merits of the death of His Son, and is appropriated by faith. Salva on is affected by personal repentance, belief in the Lord Jesus (jus fica on) and personal acceptance of Him into one s life as Lord and Savior (regenera on). The new life in Christ includes the privileges of adop on and inheritance in the Kingdom of God s beloved Son. Salva on is an act of free will in response to God s personal love for mankind. Salva on should produce an ac ve lifestyle of loving obedience and service to Jesus Christ our Savior. 4

Statement of Faith 1.5 The Chris an Life We believe that the Scriptures portray the life of the saint in this world to be one of balance between what is imputed to us as Chris ans and what is imparted to us according to our faith and maturity. Therefore, God s provision for His children is total, and His promises are final and forever. The shortcomings of the individual and of the Church are because of the s ll progressing sanc fica on of the saints. The Chris an life is filled with trials, tests and warfare against a spiritual enemy. To remain faithful through all the circumstances of life requires dependence upon the Holy Spirit and a willingness to die to personal desires and passions. 1.6 The Church The goal of the church is to make disciples of all na ons and present the saints complete in Christ. The five-fold ministries listed in Ephesians 4 govern the church, along with the Elders and service of the Deacons, as well as other leadership roles men oned in Scripture. Church policy is a balance between congrega on and Eldership authority, emphasizing the final authority of the church leadership. It is essen al to the life of the church that scriptural pa erns of discipline are prac ced and that oversight for church discipline, individually and corporately, is exercised by the leadership of the church. 1.7 Bap sm and the Lord s Supper The Word of God places on the church two perpetual ordinances of the Lord Jesus Christ. The first, bap sm, is the outward sign of what God has already done in the individual s life and is a tes mony to all that the person now belongs to Jesus. It is iden fica on with Jesus and is effected in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Lord s Supper is a commemora on of the death of the Lord and is done in remembrance of Him un l He comes again; it is a sign of our loving par cipa on in Him. Bap sm is for those who have accepted Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. The Lord s Supper is open to anyone who desires to partake. 1.8 Eschatology We affirm the bodily, personal, second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the resurrec on of the saints, the millennium and the final judgment. The final judgment will determine the eternal status of both the saints and the unbelievers, determined by their personal rela onship to Jesus Christ. We affirm with the Bible the final state of the new heavens and the new earth. 5

Current Situation Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Concerns Cornerstone Community Church is blessed with a well-established base of warm and friendly believers who desire to go deeper in the Word individually and corporately. Our modern church facility is conveniently located in the heart of what has been described as one of the most picturesque loca ons in all of North America. We have strong ministries for both our men s and women s groups, a great praise team and a burgeoning junior high youth group. Like many churches, we have a highly mo vated, albeit at mes overtasked, group of volunteers who help in many aspects of our church s programs such as our Monday Night Community Dinners. Our new Children s Ministry and Missions leaders are bringing in new energy, ideas and opportuni es that will help these programs to flourish. We are financially solid even with a large propor on of part- me residents and visitors. Although we have a strong core, we have lacked in overall organiza on, communica on and Pastoral/Board leadership in ministries. We currently lack a full program for our youth and struggle to staff children s Sunday school and the toddler room. We are also deficient in ministries to support our young adults, singles and large popula on of transient visitors. Cornerstone, like many midsized evangelical churches, has an abundance of opportuni es within the church body, within the communi es in which we reside and throughout all of God s wonderful crea on. Areas within the body include our high school and college ministries, Life Groups and a refocusing of the Board of Elders and future Board of Deacons. Cornerstone has had three Senior Pastors over the past 10 years. While all have been men of God who loved our church, we find ourselves yet again looking for a new one. We have been praying for God to reveal to us the Pastor that He has already chosen. We are striving to be pa ent, though ul and prayerful through this process and trust that He will lead the right man to our church. We rest assured that together we will thrive for many years and bring glory to His kingdom. 8
