We will commit to May 4 and then more dates if it goes well. Food Pantry/Warehouse - Max 3 people. Signups finalized by Thursday the week before. Mondays 1-3pm. Responsibilities are to stock shelves, possibly help with checkout, bagging of produce, and sorting food donations. Second Glance Thrift Store Max 3 people per shift. Signups finalized 3 days before. We continue with a new selection for April; "Hillbilly Elegy" by J. D. Vance. The Vance family story begins hopefully in postwar America. J. D.'s grandparents were "dirt poor and in love" and moved north from Kentucky's Appalachia region to Ohio in the hopes of escaping the dreadful poverty around them. They raised a middle-class family, and eventually their grandchild (the author) would graduate from Yale Law School, a conventional marker of their success in achieving generational upward mobility.
