Mulberry Street United Methodist Church Macon, Georgia The Church at Worship Sixth Sunday after Pentecost June 26, 2016 Eleven O clock ENTRANCE AND PRAISE Greeting in the Name of Christ Rev. Jimmy Towson The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us worship God. Opening Voluntary Lift High the Cross Hunter Godsey, Organist arr. Leavitt Call to Worship Johnny Hathcock We are on a journey of faith. We travel with Jesus Christ as our guide. We gather, seeking to be fed by the manna of God s Word, to rediscover the paths of righteousness. O God, your Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. * Entrance Hymn No. 127 Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah CWM RHONDDA * Opening Prayer Rev. Tommy Perkins The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray. On this journey of life, O God, be our companion, be our guide. Show us where to go. Wherever we are, in the journey from birth to death, grant us your peace. We thank you for each other, our companions in the journey of faith. We pray for those with whom we travel on this planet as it makes its rounds of the sun. Bring us together to a new world of peace, through Jesus Christ, who lived and died that all might be one. Amen.

* Affirmation of Faith A Statement of Faith of the United Church of Canada We are not alone, we live in God s world. We believe in God: who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit. We trust in God. We are called to be the church: to celebrate God s presence, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to God. Amen. Act of Praise Ainsworth Choir O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee Mark L. Williams Words by Washington Gladden, 1879, UMH No. 430 PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD Children s Moments Holly Driggers Children are invited to meet Holly on the chancel steps. K-4 and K-5 children will leave for Children s Church after Children s Moments. Psalm 77:1-2, 11-20 I cry aloud to God, aloud that God may hear me. In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord, in the night my hand is stretched out continually; my soul refuses to be comforted. I will call to mind the deeds of the Lord; I will remember your wonders of old. I will meditate on all your work, and muse on your mighty deeds. Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God? You are the God who works wonders, you manifested your might among the peoples. You redeemed with your arm your people, the descendents of Jacob and Joseph. When the waters saw you, O God, when the waters saw you, they were afraid, the very deeps trembled.

The clouds poured out water; the skies gave forth thunder; your arrows flashed on every side. The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind; your lightnings illumined the world; the earth trembled and shook. Your way was through the sea, your path through the great waters; yet your footprints were unseen. You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. * Hymn No. 381 Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us Old Testament Reading Exodus 33:1, 12-14 (NLT) The word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God. BRADBURY Johnny Hathcock Sermon Rev. Jimmy Towson Summer Road Trip: The Destination Response to the Word Irish Blessing Chris Abbott, Tenor Bob Chilcott Offertory Prayer Let us pray together. By the sustaining presence of your Spirit, O Lord, You indeed are with us. But you also walk among us as a hungry child, a homeless family, a teenager with too many tough choices to make, a senior adult with too few people with whom to talk, a man or woman in need of hope, of life, of light. As we give, may we recognize you as you walk among us. Amen. Offering of our Gifts Sicilienne Hunter Godsey Malcolm Archer * Doxology OLD 100 TH Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; praise him above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. * Invitation to Christian Discipleship

SENDING FORTH * Hymn of Discipleship We are Travelers on a Journey BEACH SPRING We are travelers on a journey, fellow pilgrims on the road; We are here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load. I will hold the Christ-light for you in the night-time of your fear; I will hold my hand out to you, speak the peace you long to hear. Sister, let me be your servant, let me be as Christ to you; Pray that I may have the grace to let you be my servant, too. Brother, let me be your servant, let me be as Christ to you; Pray that I may have the grace to let you be my servant, too. I will weep when you are weeping, when you laugh, I ll laugh with you; I will share your joy and sorrow, till we ve seen this journey through. When we sing to God in heaven, we shall find such harmony; Born of all we ve known together of Christ s love and agony. Mulberry Street United Methodist Church June 26, 2016 Today s Sermon Summer Road Trip: The Destination Today s Scripture Exodus 33:1; 12-14 (NLT) 1 The LORD said to Moses, Get going, you and the people you brought up from the land of Egypt. Go up to the land I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I told them, I will give this land to your descendants. 12 One day Moses said to the LORD, You have been telling me, Take these people up to the Promised Land. But you haven t told me whom you will send with me. You have told me, I know you by name, and I look favorably on you. 13 If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor. And remember that this nation is your very own people. 14 The LORD replied, I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest everything will be fine for you. TWO CRITICAL DESTINATIONS 1. The destination. Is. 35:8 GNT "The Road of Holiness." Ps. 16:5-9 MSG You canceled my ticket to - that's not my destination! Ever since you took my hand, I'm on the right way. Matt. 10:32 NLT Christ acknowledges us before the Father. 2. The destination. Ps. 119:59 NLT I pondered the of my life, and I turned to follow your laws. God is more concerned with who you are than you are going!
