FROM THE COMANDER As always, I cannot thank the volunteers enough at the Post, from those that volunteer in the kitchen to those that do the repair work on our building, the names are too numerous to list but you all know who you are. Thank you! The elections are rapidly approaching to elect the officers for the 2018/2019 -time frame. Watch closely in the bulletin and on the website, www.legionpost163.com, for information. These are the only places for accurate, official information. The elections will be held at a Special Meeting on 05/05/2018 at 5 p.m. Mark your calendars so you do not forget! Come out and place your vote for those you want to guide the Post s direction for the next year! If you do not vote you cannot complain about the results! It has been a privilege and an honor to serve as your Commander again this past year, to all those that have supported us and the Post throughout the past year, and to those that had voted for me in the past I thank you! By the time you read this the new roof has been installed and the marquee has been repaired with a few upgrades! A lot of events are in the works for activities at the Post by all of those in the Legion Family, come out and show your support. Remember, your participation helps those to plan for mare and bigger events. We are still looking for a Kitchen Manager. If you think you would like to try it, contact me asap and I will review the requirements with you. See you at upcoming events. 1st Vice Commander Message I wish to thank all the members of our post that have renewed their membership for 2018. There are currently 591 active members as of 2/10/2018. We have a goal set by the District of 696 members. Right now we are at 85% renewed which is only 15% from being 100%. We have until April 4th of this year to reach that goal. The last time the post was 100% was back in 2015, let s try and make it 100% again this year. Of course we will accept renewals up until June 16th so I can make sure it reaches District Headquarters and National Headquarters before they close renewals on June 29th. Lets get this post back to being one of the best Posts if not the best Post in Florida District 12. Hope on seeing you soon. For God and Country Jack W. MESSAGE FROM THE PRES IDENT Ladies, what a year it has been. There is still much to get done. By the time you receive this bulletin we will have selected our election committee. The Auxiliary really needs members who are willing to donate their time and work hard. It isn t fair to the 4 or 5 who always show up and do the time. Please consider to participate this year and think about being an officer. According to our Unite Guide election of officers will be held not more than ninety days nor less than fifteen days prior to the Department Convention. Department Convention is July 5th 8th. Our Four Chaplains Service went very well. I want to Thank Commander Hughes for giving me the privilege of doing the service. I especially want to thank all those who participated. Special thanks to Auxiliary members, Mary Lou Werts, Lorraine Theroux, Cheri Hartman, Dorothy Duke, Joyce Larson, Legion member Dorinda Lowery, Legion Honor Guard, Ron and Tina Durand and Jerry Larson Past SAL Commander. It could not have happened without all of you. Thanks to all of those who attended. On a personal note; thanks to all of you for being so kind to Roger and I during his time of illness. Roger is doing very well and improving every day. After long thought, I have made a major decision to place my name in nomination for President for 2018-2019 ensuing year. I m praying it will be a better year for all of us. So, I am asking for your support. Hope to see you at all the meetings, held each month on the second Thursday @ 7:00 p.m. For God and Country Billie Pierce May 18, 19 & 20 9 AM 5 PLEAS E VOLUNTEER & HELP US S UPPORT OUR VETERAN HOSPITALS AND FAMILIES
