2800 SOUTH YALE TULSA, OKLAHOMA 74114 (918) 744-0079 May 9, 2017 Dear Memorial Baptist Church Family: The Pastor Search Committee thanks you for faithfully and diligently praying for us and our church. We accepted the call to be your Pastor Search Committee with deep humility and total trust in God. Our commitment is to draw near to God and seek His full and perfect will. We ask that you join us in a church-wide commitment of fervent, united prayer. The Pastor Search Committee is dependent upon the daily prayers of every member of this special family of believers. We have designated specific times during the month of May for A Call to Prayer. These prayer times will be a time for us to draw especially close to God in surrender, prayer and confident faith as we seek our next Senior Pastor. The dates, times and location for A Call to Prayer are: Tuesday, May 9, 2017, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sanctuary Thursday, May 11, 2017, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sanctuary Tuesday, May 16, 2017, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sanctuary Wednesday, May 17, 2017, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sanctuary* Tuesday, May 23, 2017, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sanctuary Thursday, May 25, 2017, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sanctuary *Nursery provided for ages birth to four years of age. You may come and go or come and stay for any or all of the above dates and times. Prayer Guides and Scripture Readings for the Pastor Search Committee and our Congregation are attached to this letter. If you are not able to come to the church to pray, we ask that you set aside Take my yoke upon you

times of prayer for you and your family to pray through the Prayer Guides. Place these Prayer Guides in your Bible or someplace very conspicuous. If we all continually pray through these prayers and scriptures, our united agreement will greatly increase the power of our intercession. (Matthew 18:19, Acts 2:1). The Pastor Search Committee is praying through these prayers and scriptures. We realize that our collective prayers are only as powerful as our personal lives are yielded before God. (Psalms 66:18; James 5:16). It is important that we all embrace powerful prayer and renewal during this time of transition. By so doing, we can be assured of God s blessing, direction and grace. As we seriously pray and seek God s face, He will do a glorious work in us as well as lead us to His perfect will. Because of God s grace and power, let us look to the future with great hope! Pray for keen supernatural discernment, wisdom and strength for Jeff Holt, Chair, Pastor Search Committee. 3. Pray for powerful unity and oneness of spirit within the committee. (Amos 3:3; Matthew 18:19) 4. Pray for God s clear direction as resumes are examined and interviews conducted. Ask God to bring the right person to the attention of the committee. (Proverbs 14:12; Isaiah 55:8-9) 5. Pray for the committee to have God s wisdom in all the questions and information they share with the prospective pastor. Spirit-led thoroughness is essential! (1 Corinthians 2:10-16) 6. Pray for the committee to have supernatural wisdom as to the unique characteristic and traits most needed for our church. 7. Pray for the committee to have no timetable but God s. They must be determined to find God s perfect will in God s perfect time. (Ephesians 5:17)

Prayer Guide and Scripture Readings for the Pastor Search Committee Page 2 8. Pray for the future pastor and his family to have absolute certainty in their sense of call to our church. (He must know he has God s direction.) 9. Pray for the prevention of Satan s influence in misleading or rushing the committee. (One of Satan s wiles is deception.) Pray for a powerful hedge of protection around the committee and their families. (From Seeking God to Seek a Pastor by Gregory Frizzell)

A CALL TO PRAYER Prayer Guide and Scripture Readings for the Congregation 1. Pray that the pastor search period continues to be a time the church learns to seek God Himself more than just a new pastor. Lord teach us to draw closer to Jesus and trust Him as the true head of the Church. (Jeremiah 29:13; James 4:8) 2. Pray for a powerful move of congregational cleansing and renewal. Father, please cause this to be a time of deep healing, cleansing and renewal in our church. (Psalms 66:18; 139:23-24) 3. Pray for a continual strong consistency and focus in the present ministries of our church. Please be with our interim pastor and our staff. Protect us from any spirit of lukewarmness or losing our first love. Remind us that we serve Jesus, not a pastor. (Revelation 2:1-4; 3:15) 4. Pray for a miraculous sense of love and unity among all members of the church. Help us surrender all bitterness, division and anger within our church family. Lord, empower us to love one another with a patient, forbearing love. (John 13:34; 17:21) 5. Pray that we patiently await God s timing and settle for nothing less than His perfect will. Ask God for His mercy in giving us a true man of God and a great leader. (Hebrews 6:12) 6. Pray that we be prepared to make the necessary changes to embrace a new day of ministry. Lord, we understand that a new pastor always means changes. Help us to be prepared to change and grow with graciousness and unity. (Ephesians 4:1-6) (From Seeking God to Seek a Pastor by Gregory Frizzell)
