2407 Laurel Brook Road Fallston, MD 21047 www.saintmarkfallston.org April 15th Third Sunday of Easter Thanks to the generosity of our St. Mark parishioners, we are able to send money for food for the children of LaLomas to have lunch 2 times per week for April and May! On May 7, Maria & Sheila will join 4 people from Kentucky & Wisconsin for a 5 day trip to LaLomas to visit the children during their school day and to meet Father Max, the new Pastor! There will be a 2nd collection the weekend of April 28 & 29th to help cover expenses for the trip and to purchase supplies that have been requested by Father Max. Monetary donations can also be dropped off at the parish office marked to Haiti mission trip. Father Max and 2 of the young men in college classes are in need of new laptops. If you would like to donate a laptop, please contact Sheila at sbateman@saintmarkfallston.org, or 410-790-7145 for specifics.

That is what we experience this weekend in the Scripture readings. Peter reminds people, in the Acts of the Apostles, that all of the prophets predicted Jesus coming as the Messiah. But the people did not know nor recognize Him and put the author of life to death. He tells them, however, that they can now repent and believe in the Christ, whom they were told would suffer, and that their sins would be wiped away. Jesus, Himself, in the Gospel of Luke, appears once again to the disciples gathered in fear. After He calms their nerves and eats something in front of them to prove that it is truly Him, He then explains that Moses and the psalms and the Prophets all wrote about Him. It really is revealing and quite world changing to read the Old Testament in light of the Jesus event. If Jesus did not come or suffer or die, the Old Testament would appear as a very different book. We would still be waiting for fulfillment, for the new hearts replacing our stony hearts, for water that cleanses and refreshes and for manna from heaven. We now have all these in Jesus and His Resurrection. Too many people take this for granted. Don t be one of them! Fr. Jerry Francik LITURGICAL ENVIRONMENT The Liturgical-Environment group of the Liturgy Committee is responsible for much of the "behind-the-scenes" work to assure a neat, clean and attractive worship space in the Church and Chapel. Over the years this group has been known as the 'Altar Society' or 'Sanctuary Society' and these titles are still used to designate some of our subgroups or functions. We have about 20 parishioners who rotate the laundering of the altar linens and see to weekly finishing touches like dusting, straightening up, changing colors of altar cloths, etc., to match the liturgical season or feast day. A few members are dedicated to special routine functions like watering and maintaining plants, laundering the altar server vestments and sewing needs. Many additional parishioners volunteer to help us at Christmas and Easter to do more in-depth cleaning and decorating - usually 50 or more volunteers will be on hand to help with these special efforts. Our group is always looking for more parishioners to help with the routine tasks. Please contact the office or call Sheila Hicks (410-879-2496) for more information or to join us in this all important work. Deadline for items to appear in the bulle n is 9:00 am Monday.
