A Place For You Welcome! Maybe you have been away from the Church for a little while or for quite some time, but now you feel a tug at your heart calling you back to the Catholic Church. Listen to that tug. It s your Heavenly Father reaching His arms out to you, the Holy Spirit whispering in your ear, hoping to draw you home. We hope you accept this as your invitation to rediscover the truth, wonder and mystery of the Catholic faith. As your brothers and sisters in our worldwide Catholic family, we want you back. We ve missed you, and our Parish is not the same without you. If you are a practicing Catholic and have decided to make St. Paul your church home, simply call 262-968-3865, come by or visit www.stpaulgenesee.net to get registered. Weekly Message New Years Blessing God of every nation and people, from the very beginning of creation you have made manifest your love: when our need for a Savior was great you sent your Son to be born of the Virgin Mary. To our lives he brings joy and peace, justice, mercy, and love. Lord, bless us and our families in the New Year. Raise up our thoughts to Jesus, who is God-with-us and Savior of all, and who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen. conducted by Knights of Columbus Delicious Breakfast for young and old, fellowship, and a presentation by Fr. Dan Volkert giving you a glimpse of his family, his past life in the financial world, and his call to the priesthood. Wishing you all a Blessed New Year Fr. Dan January 21, after 9am Mass. Casa Maria House of Hospitality, a shelter for homeless women and children in Milwaukee, is one of the many ministries St Paul Parish assists through the Human Concerns Committee. Monthly Loaves and Fishes monetary donations are used to purchase groceries (mostly meat and perishables) for Casa Maria. Panera Bread donations and the food shopping are scheduled on the third Monday of the month in the morning. At last count, there were 15 children staying there with their moms; one mom in this homeless shelter recently gave birth to triplets! ANYONE is welcome to make a meal for the families currently in residence there. Casa Maria is also in critical need of children's clothing (newborn to children size 12). You are also welcome to go along for grocery shopping! If you're interested in helping with any of these, on your own, with your family or as a group project, please contact Nancy Reinbold (nreinbold@wi.rr.com 262-968-4564 or 262-844-1771) Casa Maria is at 1131 N 21 St in Milwaukee. Service with a smile Some of our high schoolers baked Christmas cookies which were made available for Home Communion Ministers to bring cheer to homebound parishioners. Thank you to these 10th grade boys for living out our parish's mission through serving others. 3

ST PAUL SCHOOL NEWS www.stpaulgenesee.net 262-968-3175 Get connected to our POWER! 3K Registration Many of our parish families have sent their three year old to St. Paul School for 3K. We are signing children up for the 2018-19 school year. We provide a half morning program five days a week and we provide a full day program. We also do three mornings a week. The program is flexible to your family needs. There is a curriculum with exit expectations guided by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Would you be interested in our three year old kindergarten program? Call school at 262-968-3175 to get a spot for 2018-19. Spread the word to everyone you know with a three year old or for that matter a four year old child or children in kindergarten through grade 8. We appreciate your help. Teacher Vacancy for 4K Kindergarten St. Paul School is looking for a teacher to teach half-day four-year-old kindergarten Monday through Friday. The person must have proper credentials including a degree and licensure in early childhood education. Please spread the word to anyone you know who might be interested including family and friends. New January graduates from college would find this an exciting experience rather than substitute teaching at this time of year. If you are interested, please call the school at 262-968- 3175 and speak with Ally Blonien, the school principal. Thank you for helping us with this position. After School Care Help Wanted We are looking for someone to help with the PM After School Program, shifts Monday-Friday. We need someone is consistent. This is a paid position or can be used for volunteer hours. This is a great opportunity to serve your parish. Hours are 3:25pm to 6pm, but ending times can vary. If interested, please contact Stephanie at Afterschoolcare@stpaulgenesee.net Catholic Schools Week National Catholic Schools Week is an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. Celebrated the week of January 28 February 2. On January 28, 2018 we will begin celebrating CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK. There will be special events taking place during the week at school and at Mass on Sunday. A schedule of events will be announced later in January. Parish Auction February 10, 2018. Please mark your calendar for this event. The theme is "An Evening Under the Stars." It is at The Legend at Brandybrook. This is a major fundraiser for the parish and the school. Please volunteer your time, talent, and/or treasure to help make this event a big success. Happy New Year to all of the St. Paul Parishioners, from all of us at St. Paul School. We hope your new year is filled with happiness and good health. We will continue to pray for you daily and we appreciate all of the support you provide for our school. Please feel free to visit us any time in this new year of 2018 to see what we are all about. Join our Family, Ally Blonien, Principal St. Paul School For the Kids Sharing the Gospel Mary and Joseph went to the temple and presented the baby Jesus to God. Two older people recognized that Jesus was the Messiah. They gave him special blessings. They thanked God for this child. Just like Mary and Joseph, your parents gave thanks to God when you were born. They were very happy God gave you to them. They had you baptized in church, and presented you as a gift to God, too. Prayer Lord, thank you for bringing the baby Jesus into my life. WHY DO WE DO THAT? - CATHOLIC TRADITIONS EXPLAINED Question: What can I do to help our family practice our faith each day? Answer: Some families practice their religion together as just another event on their schedule: go to church, observe Lent, help at the parish picnic, go to a meeting, volunteer time, make your confession, use your envelope... But the focus needs to be on who we are--god's people, in relationship with him, loved, forgiven, and redeemed, and called to live and proclaim the Gospel. Our awareness of God's presence and our sense of mission are supported by the daily rituals, celebrations, and traditions that help us stay focused. Sharing our faith strengthens us and clarifies the beliefs and values of Christian living. Daily family practices include time for prayer--before meals, before bed, before important meetings and activities. Attend Sunday Mass together and discuss the homily afterward. Create family celebrations for holy days and holidays. Make religion a regular part of your discussions. Include others, especially the elderly and the less fortunate, in your activities and charitable efforts. By applying the virtues of faith, hope, and love to each day, faith becomes part of who your family is. It influences how you act towards others, what you value, and how mindful of God you are. Faith is the leaven of life that helps all of us rise to our calling and dignity as God's people. ST BRUNO Events and Invites ST.
