OUR MUSIC MINISTRY Members of all ages enjoy developing their faith and cultivating their musical talents through our music ministry program. Our choral and instrumental groups meet regularly and glorify God through music during Sunday worship services and special events. Position Summary The Director of Music and Worship is a full-time position responsible for the oversight and operation of a comprehensive Christ-centered ministry of music. While not an ordained position, this role assumes a pastoral presence, expressing a heart for people s spiritual development and emotional well-being; helping them draw closer to the redeeming and saving power of Jesus Christ. OUR MUSIC MINISTRY Personal Qualifications Possesses a strong commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and exhibits obedience and reverence for His Word; candidate is a mature believer able to clearly communicate faith Commits to, and is doctrinally aligned with the visions, belief, and values of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and ECO as reflected in the Essential Tenets Has a joyful spirit, a passionate heart for worship, and feels called to express eternal truths and love of Christ through music to a congregation of all ages Thinks creatively and strategically to initiate change as led by the Spirit and affirmed by ministry leadership Possesses gifts for leadership, administration, encouragement, shepherding, and worship Able to pass US and Georgia background check Professional Qualifications Minimum Bachelor s degree in a music related field (Master s degree preferred) Evinces strength in choral conducting, and possess a high degree of musical excellence in instrumental and vocal performance Able to lead well in both traditional and contemporary worship settings Proficiency in the use of the following software and technology: ProPresenter, Planning Center Online, and Essential Microsoft Applications such as Microsoft Word, and PC and Macintosh operating systems Primary Responsibilities Manage short and long-range worship planning through Planning Center Online in collaboration with the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff and other program staff members Recruit, rehearse and lead the musical and spiritual development of the following music teams- Currently: Adult Chancel Choir, The Road Praise Band, ReSound Youth Chorus and Praise Band (Both Middle and High School respectively) Give oversight to Eastminster Ringers (Handbell Choir), Kid Choir (K-5th grade), and AVL team. Hire substitute and guest musicians as needed, and coordinate for their pay and performance
OUR MUSIC MINISTRY Provide clear communication to all music groups, and parents when applicable, about schedule, Sunday service presentations, and extra rehearsals and services Collaborate with the church organist to plan music for the traditional worship service, additional worship services, and other events through the year Administrate the purchase of all music and music supplies as they relate to the work of any of the ensembles of the church Identify long range budgetary needs for the worship and music ministries, and communicate these to the Worship team and program staff Logistical functions Coordinate and plan with the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff the music for all regular and special worship services, in addition but not limited to: Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, and Holy Week Attend and facilitate meetings of the Worship Team as an ex officio staff member Responsible for the maintenance of all instruments in the church Contribute relevant articles to the church newsletter and other media as appropriate Attend the weekly staff meetings and other meetings as requested by the Senior Pastor/ Head of Staff Contribute monthly report to, and as needed attend Session (Church Leadership) meetings With respect to weddings & funerals, work with the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff, church organist, and family regarding musical selections. Note: the wedding or funeral party will remunerate the DMW separately Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff
