Book Four DISCOVERY 1 A: My family should put the Lord first in everything it does. Joshua 24:15b Choose for yourself this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the river, or the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. Review: Ephesians 1:14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God s possession to the praise of His glory. A: Family members should enjoy one another. Deuteronomy 5:16 Honor your father and mother as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you. Psalm 127:3 Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise. Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. A: I need to be a kid. 2 Peter 1:5-7 For this very reason make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness knowledge. And to knowledge, self control; and to self control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness. And to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. Book Four DISCOVERY 3 A: I can grow spiritually by learning more about the Bible. Hebrews 5:13-14 Anyone who lives on milk, still being an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish between good and evil. A: I can grow spiritually by listening to my pastor. 1 Timothy 1:13-14 What you heard from me, keep as the patter of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. Review: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own. You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. A: I can grow spiritually by memorizing God s Word. Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. A: By being baptized a picture of my relationship with Christ. Romans 6:4-5 We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. If we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection. Review: Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Review: Philippians 4:13 I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. A: I can grow spiritually by using the gifts God has given me. 1 Corinthians 12:12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. Book Four DISCOVERY 5 A: A good friend shows respect to others. Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. 1 Peter 2:17 Show proper respect to everyone: love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king. Review: Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. A: A good friend shows loyalty to others. Proverbs 19:4 Wealth brings many friends, but a poor man s friends deserts him. Proverbs 20:6 Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find? Review: Romans 6:4-5 We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. If we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection. A: A good friend is honest with others. Proverbs 12:19 Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment. Proverbs 19:22 What a man desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar. Review: Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. A: A good friend shares and is not selfish. 1 Peter 1:22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love on another deeply, from the heart. Book Four DISCOVERY 6 A: A good friend forgives others. 1 Peter 3:8-9 Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil, or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. A: A good friend prays for others. 2 Thessalonians 1:11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of His calling, and that by His power He may fulfill every good purpose of yours and very act prompted by your faith. Review: 1 Corinthians 12:12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. A: A good friend encourages others. Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it my benefit those who listen. Romans 15:2 Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. A: A good friend tells unsaved friends about Christ. Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: First for the Jew, then for the Gentile. Book Four DISCOVERY 7 A: Hell is a place of eternal punishment. Revelation 20:15 If anyone s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Review: Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. A: Heaven is a place of eternal reward. Philippians 3:20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. Review: Psalm 133:1 How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! A: Heaven is a perfect and joyful home. Revelation 7:16 Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon the, nor any scorching heat. Review: Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: First for the Jew, then for the Gentile. A: Our bodies will be different in heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed. In a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. The Ultimate Adventure, Book 4 (Revised) Page 7

Book Four DISCOVERY 8 A: God will judge unbelievers at the great white throne judgment. Revelation 20:11 Than I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from His presence, and there was no place for them. Review: 1 Peter 2:17 Show proper respect to everyone: love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king. A: Believers will be rewarded for their faithful service for Christ. 1 Corinthians 9:25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. A: God knows the future. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Review: Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. A: God has a plan for my future. 2 Timothy 3:15 And how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
