Father Sianchuk was born in Manitoba. In 1974 he was ordained to the priesthood. He studied philosophy and theology in Canada and Italy and graduated with a Licentiate in Eastern Theology (O.E.S.L) from Oriental Institute, Gregorian University, Rome in 1981. He is a present director of the Bishop Velychkovsky Matyr s Shrine, at St. Joseph s Ukrainian Catholic Church. 3rd Sunday of Great Lent: Veneration of the Cross The Third Sunday of Lent is that of the Veneration of the Cross. The cross stands in the midst of the church in the middle of the lenten season not merely to remind men of Christ s redemption and to keep before them the goal of their efforts, but also to be venerated as that reality by which man must live to be saved. He who does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me (Mt.10:38). KNIGHTS OF COLOMBUS We are into March, we have two functions planned for this month with a pancake breakfast on March 4, 2018 after Divine Liturgy to coincide with our parish annual meeting. The next perogy supper is planned for Friday March 23 @ 4:00 a bit early as Good Friday is on the last Friday of March. All from our parish and their friends are invited to come and enjoy a supper and an opportunity to visit. We have two coffee houses planned for March 11 & 18.
