WHO WE ARE WELCOME to Pioneer Welcome to the Pioneer Memorial Church on Holy Communion Sabbath. Communion draws our thoughts to the Upper-Room, where Jesus, during His last supper with the disciples, provided an example of humility for all, by stooping to wash the disciples' dusty feet. Then with a simple loaf of bread and a pitcher of grape juice, which symbolized His body and blood, Jesus pointed to His sacrifice on Calvary as our Savior. His simple request of the disciples (and us) was when you break the bread and drink the juice, "Remember me!" And, today, with grateful hearts, we do! -Sharon Terrell PIONEER MEMORIAL CHURCH 8655 UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD, BERRIEN SPRINGS, MI 49103 OFFICE HOURS Monday Thursday (8 to 5) Friday (8 to 12) LIVE STREAMING www.pmchurch.org Sabbath 1 1:45 AM FIND A SABBATH SCHOOL PHONE 269.471.3133 FAX 269.471.6152 ONLINE www.pmchurch.org www.newperceptions.tv RADIO WAUS 90.7 FM Sabbath 1 1:30 AM 2 PIONEER MEMORIAL CHURCH

AGAINST THE STRONGHOLDS 4 PIONEER MEMORIAL CHURCH

PIONEER LIFE BY DWIGHT K. NELSON T he immense challenge of penetrating an essentially pagan culture and nation for Christ in Japan, in this country, as well as nations across the earth is unprecedented. Centuries of Christian witness have seemingly failed. But God is not defeated for "the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have the power to demolish strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:4)! It is time to come against those strongholds of Satan with Heaven's potent weapon of collective, intercessory prayer. From 7:00 PM on Friday, April 6, to 7:00 PM on Sabbath, April 7, we are convening a campus-wide Day of Prayer and Fasting. Each of us has a dozen urgent prayer needs we must bring to God. But beyond our personal prayers, it is time to collectively focus our praying on the pagan strongholds of Japan, the secular West and East, and the challenge of penetrating Islam we must come together and pray. "'If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land'" (2 Chronicles 7:14). Please go to our website www.pmchurch.org/dayofprayer and sign up for an hour of prayer. Then come through the Pioneer Youth Chapel, where we will be open through these 24 hours, with each hour beginning with a facilitated introduction, hymn and prayer, after which those gathered can select designated on-site prayer spaces to join others interceding for the same need. Do you have to fast in order to join this Day of Prayer and Fasting? No but don't be too quick to dismiss the possibility. Fasts come in various sizes and shapes from Daniel's modified fast (Daniel 10:3) to Esther's crisis fast (Esther 4:16, 5:2) to Jesus' disciples' deliverance fasting (Matthew 17:21). Fasts can include simple social media fasting, fruit juice fasts, entertainment fasting, etc. Remember we don't fast to convince God or manipulate Him we fast and pray on behalf of the great challenges we face and our desperate need of for God's intervention. The 127 million people of Japan deserve to hear and know Jesus as much as we do. But only the Holy Spirit can break the devil's centuries-long chokehold on that society. And we have His promise: "So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west [USA], and His glory from the rising of the sun [Japan] when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him" (Isaiah 59:19). It is time to claim God's promise! Join this intergenerational Day of Prayer and Fasting go to the website and let us know you'll be there. We thank you, and God will bless you. MARCH 24, 2018 5

THE CLEANSING When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. Do you understand what I have done for you? he asked them. You call me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. However, today's opening organ music uses an alternate melody (no. 155). The melody builds effectively to a climactic high note in each of its halves. It appears as an adaptation by Edward Miller (1731-1807), who exemplified achievement into years of maturity. It was not until Miller's mid 50s that he held a doctoral degree in music. And he was organist of Doncaster Parish Church for a half century! 8 PIONEER MEMORIAL CHURCH
