Then the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all the people shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken. - Isaiah 40:5

ENCOUNTER Prayer of Confession It is Advent. It is the season in which we prepare our hearts to welcome Christ, who is the bringer of all peace. We confess to you the ways in which we block the peace of Christ in our lives. God of peace, hear our prayer. Relieve us of the rushing and scurrying to get things done, the worry about the little details, the financial burdens we put on ourselves, and the impatience and irritability we feel and take out on one another. The bickering and quarreling we get into because we are too busy, we confess to you, O God of peace. Though we make ourselves less than peaceful at this time of the year, your peace is always there for us. When we feel overwhelmed, when we are filled with worry, when we become irritable, instill within us your peace, and help us to make choices that bring us closer to you. Help us to be more peaceful so that we may spread Christ s peace and love to others. Silence is observed. Response 574 Lord, Have Mercy Kyrie Lord have mercy upon us. Christ have mercy upon us. Lord have mercy upon us. Assurance of Forgiveness *Response 567 Glory Be to the Father Gloria Patri Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. Amen. Amen. *Passing the Peace Greet both friends and strangers saying, The peace of Christ be with you. Time for Church Life

Please sign the friendship pad and pass to those seated near you. If you are the last person to sign on that page, please tear it out and leave it on the pew for the ushers to pick up after the service. SERVE *Affirmation of Faith As followers of Jesus Christ, living in this world - which some seek to control, and others view with despair - we declare with joy and trust: Our world belongs to God! Remembering the promise to reconcile the world, God joined our humanity in Jesus Christ - the eternal Word made flesh. He is the longawaited Messiah, one with us and one with God, fully human and fully divine, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of Mary. We long for the day when our bodies are raised, the Lord wipes away our tears, and we dwell forever in the presence of God. We will take our place in the new creation, where there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, and the Lord will be our light. Come, Lord Jesus, come. Prayers of the People and The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. *Hymn 2 Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus HYFRYDOL *Charge and Benediction *Voluntary O Holy Night Join us for coffee and fellowship in Wright-Herberich Hall after worship today.
