History, Liberty, Freedom, Hope Matthew 21:28 32

Ex. 13:3, And Moses said to the people: Remember this day in which you went out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out of this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.

A nation that forgets its history, impoverishes the present, and destroys its future. ~Unknown

Study HISTORY, Study HISTORY. In history lies all the secrets of statecraft! ~Sir Winston Churchill

THOSE WHO DON T KNOW HISTORY ARE DOOMED TO REPEAT IT. ~EDMUND BURKE (1729 1787)

We should never despair, our situation before has been unpromising and has changed for the better, so I trust, it will again. If new difficulties arise, we must only put forth new Exertions and proportion our Efforts to the exigency of the times. ~George Washington

every officer and man will endeavor so as to live and act as becomes a Christian soldier, defending the dearest rights and liberties of his country. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian. ~George Washington

It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor. ~George Washington

Samuel Adams (1722 1803) Father of the American Revolution, Sons of Liberty; Boston Tea party Served as Lt. Gov. of Mass., 1789 1794; and Governor, 1794 1797

I... recommend my Soul to that Almighty Being who gave it, and my body I commit to the dust, relying upon the merits of Jesus Christ for a pardon of all my sins. ~Will of Samuel Adams

Samuel Adams (1722 1803) We have this day [Fourth of July] restored the Sovereign to whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in Heaven, and from the rising to the setting of the sun, let His Kingdom come.

Samuel Adams (1722 1803) It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.

The safety and prosperity of nations ultimately and essentially depend on the protection and the blessing of Almighty God, and the national acknowledgement of this truth is an indispensable duty which the people owe to Him. ~John Adams

The Declaration of Independence laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity. ~John Adams

The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. Now I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God. ~John Adams

The Influence of the Bible on the Founding Fathers 1. 1983 Dr. Donald Lutz, University of Houston. Ten-year project analyzed over 15,000 political documents from 1760 1805; 3,154 citations evaluated. 2. The most often-quoted source for political ideas was the Bible, mostly the Old Testament, over 1/3rd of all direct quotes. 3. The next most quoted source is quoted 1/4th as frequently, John Locke. 4. Another 60% of all references came from authors whose original source goes back to the Bible.

At the time of the War for Independence, the vast majority of those living in the U.S. were Christian. What they looked to for guidance on law, government, politics was the Old Testament. This is why we must affirm that the institutions and government of the United States of America is firmly grounded in a Judeo-Christian worldview and that it was designed to function on that basis, not on a secular basis.

Action Plan 1. Prayer; 1 Tim. 2:1 2. 2. Trust in God, not man; Jer. 17:5. 3. Witness, evangelize, grow spiritually, challenge others to do so. 4. Getting involved in the political process does not necessarily violate point 2. 5. Educate yourself on the issues. If you are retired, get involved in some way, if not, get involved in other ways. 6. Teach your children, your grandchildren.
