Billy Graham who passed away at the age of 99! He was one of the giants of modern evangelization. A man who lived out his baptism by being a witness to the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Growing up he wanted to play baseball for his favorite Major League team the New York Yankees. But he would attend a tent revival and be on fire for Jesus the rest of his life. Rev. Billy Graham was a Baptist, but he reached out to people of different faiths. He helped advise 12 presidents from Dwight D. Eisenhower to George W. Bush. He was good friends with Bishop Fulton Sheen and St. John Paul II. He would also not allow black people to be segregated at his crusades before the Civil Rights movement even began. He traveled the world to over 100 countries preaching about the love and mercy of Jesus Christ. Many people, through the years, were brought to Christ through Billy Graham s talks and I m sure he helped to save many souls in his lifetime here on earth. The Pope is someone respected by people of many different faiths and Billy Graham was such a person as well. Many people commented how genuine and humble he was in his preaching and in his everyday life. Humility is very important in being a true servant of the Lord and Billy Graham once commented I am nothing without God! I wish the Rev. Billy Graham could have been active in his preaching the past ten years with the rise of anti-christian sentiment and moral relativism. He would have been a force to reckon with for the glory that exists in Christianity. He stopped his preaching in 1995, only appearing in public a few times after that. But although his body became frail over the years, I sense his fire for Jesus Christ in his heart never diminished. There are times when you must look outside your own faith and just acknowledge greatness in other faiths. The Rev. Billy Graham is such a person and he realized that Christianity was meant to unite people. I m sure his legacy will live on his family and those people he inspired in his preaching. Rest in Peace Rev. Billy Graham! Thanks, and God Bless!!! Fr. Chris
