Knoxville Notes Knoxville District UMW November/December 2016 Faith Hope Love in Ac on MERRY CHRISTMAS AND THANKS TO ALL Christmas is a very sacred day to our faith. The miracle of Jesus s birth is revisited by Christians every year. How deeply amazing is this event! May your Christmas be surrounded with love from God and your family and hearts full of thanks for the baby Jesus!! Our annual meeting, Saturday, Nov 12 at Washington Pike UMC was UNIQUE this year, since we started with a PRAYER BREAKFAST that I will always remember. Reverend Rebekah Fetzer and the musical signing group Radical Remnant helped all of us realize how special our prayer relationship is with God. It is my prayer that each prayer card you took home will be used regularly for your time alone with God daily. Our two speakers, Rev. Fetzer with Susannah s House updates and Elaine Streno, with stories of changed lives from food offerings to all through Second Harvest Food Bank, supported our theme for the day, Maternal and Child Health. We were all blessed by the two speakers and Leslie Cutshaw, our soloist. May we be moved to continue to act to support these local ministries! THANK YOU to all who attended the annual meeting. We begin a new chapter in 2017 District UMW. Conference UMW webmaster and 2017 Membership Nurture and Outreach Coordinator Lori Sluder installed our 2017 slate of officers. Thank you for serving, new team members!!!! You will be blessed with this experience! God is granting you growth in mission! It has been an enlightening experience being your District President for the past four years. My eyes are opened to the bigger district and world mission opportunities through this experience. More places in Knoxville to roll up our sleeves and get to work! I am very involved in a food ministry at my own church in Corryton where we served 335 families last week with volunteers from about 10 churches assisting us. Our pledges to mission reach into ministry in the vast world s needs!! Wanting to get younger women involved in United Methodist Women? Set a three meeting schedule for next year to meet during the Sunday School hour (Pledge service (Oct), World Thank (Nov) and Call to Prayer and Self-Denial (during Lent) and provide materials and leaders for the meeting. Offer the opportunity to meet as a circle during the Sunday School hour every other month. Meet at a restaurant that has a meeting area after church one Sunday! Christmas Joy is wished for all of you!!! Your servant leader, ~ Sue Clapp As your new incoming district president, I want to wish each of you a holiday season full of peace, love, joy and hope. I am thrilled to be leading this wonderful group known as United Methodist Women, and I ask for your support and prayers as we strive to be an example for others. I know that together we can accomplish anything, and I look forward to walking beside you and being in mission together. We will continue to be united in our faith and in our call to mission. May this holiest of seasons be full of blessings for you and your family. ~ Pat Bellingrath President 2017 Hello Women of God! I hope you were blessed at our annual meeting. Washington Pike UMW and all our volunteers, speakers, singers, and musicians were much appreciated. I hope you also enjoyed the breakfast. We are already thinking about our annual meeting for 2017. Could your church host the meeting? Are you or someone you know a great soloist? Do you have ideas you want to share with the Knoxville District? Don t hesitate to get in touch with me. The annual meeting is for everyone and new ideas and new participation is what makes it unique each year. United Methodist Women are life changers here locally and around the world. Let s continue to think boldly and move forward as Women of God! Thank you again to everyone who helped and participated in our District Annual Meeting. We had 117 unit attendees and with our musicians and guests we had around 125 people at Washington Pike. The Radical Remnant(interpretive music group) was an uplifting part of the prayer breakfast. We were grateful to have Elaine Streno and Rev. Rebekah Fetzer speak to us. Brenda Martin, the pianist at Washington Pike helped us prepare our hearts for the plenary. Leslie Cutshaw and Carolyn Harsell blessed us with music during the plenary. It was a day of learning, fellowship, prayer, and rejoicing in being a part of United Methodist Women. If you missed it, we missed you, and hope to see you next year. Blessings at Thanksgiving and Always, ~ Danielle Meyers Vice President I hope everyone will enjoy a special Christmas this year. May we all celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, and ReJoice in the Lord. Love to all from, ~ Sharon Grigsby Co-Chair, Program Resources

Holiday Greetings from your Membership, Nurture & Outreach, MNO coordinator, Glenna Hutchison. These next few weeks will become very busy with family, church, work, and friends getting together to celebrate in the birth of Jesus and other Holiday activities. My wish is for a safe and Joyous celebration for everyone! I want to thank all the UMW units for being prompt in sending me your 2016 Membership Census report. I mailed them out in October to all the unit Presidents. If you have not received yours please let me know (688-5756).
