Thank You for downloading our Photography E-Book Introduction Thank you for downloading Our Favourite Travel Photos: From Alaska to Zambia. This e-book consists of some of our favourite photos from our past 11 years of travel. We ve had the opportunity to travel to nearly 60 countries during this time and have witnessed some incredible sights along the way. It wasn t easy sifting through our thousands of photographs taken over the years, but we have come up with an A to Z guide of our favourites from 26 countries. From the wolves of Haliburton Forest in Canada to the quiet fisherman in Myanmar, this book is a visual memory of over a decade of travel. We have never lost our love for travel and always experience a sense of wonder and awe when we visit a new destination. As the Discovery Channel puts it, The World is Just Awesome! and we look forward to traveling for the rest of our lives. Nothing gives us greater pleasure than to look back on our photos with fond memories of each moment in time and today, we are sharing with you our best memories of our travels. We hope you enjoy this book as much as we did putting it together. Best Wishes, Deb and Dave Editor & Publisher Dave Bouskill & Debra Corbeil Design Dave Bouskill Copyright 2011 by theplanetd.com ALL RIGHTS RESERVED: No part of this book may be reproduced or transmitted in any form by any means without the prior written permission of the publisher.

Alaska, USA Alaska was exactly what we expected; extraordinary, visually stunning and filled with adventure.we took a bus trip to explore the landscape of Denali National Park and it did not disappoint. As Mount McKinley stood proud over its rolling hills and vast plains, wildlife ran in the distance proving that Alaska is still one of the great, final frontiers of America.

Brussels, Belgium We first witnessed the Grande Place of Brussels in 1998 and found it to be the most beautiful town square we had ever seen in our lives. When we re-visited in 2011 our thoughts didn t change, it is captivating.

Haliburton, Canada In Northern Ontario, Canada there is a wolf sanctuary where a pack has free range over 15 acres of the forest. Living their lives as they would in the wild, the hierarchy of pack is alive and well as the Alpha Male and Female rule the pack. Visitors can look on from behind the glass wall of an observatory keeping human contact to a minimal.

Hangzhou, China West Lake in Hangzhuo is considered the honeymoon capital of China. Young lovers flock to its shores to celebrate the Legend of the White Snake. A Folk Tale about forbidden love. Romance was in the air and the serenity was intoxicating while walking the boardwalk of West Lake.

Prague, Czech Republic We had always heard that Prague was one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and when we finally had the chance to visit it. We agreed. The crowds may be large, but they don t detract from this picturesque historical metropolis. Seeing it by Segway was an amazing way to avoid the crowds.

London, England It took us over a decade, but we finally made it to London, England. To stroll through its streets and witness the famous landmarks that we know so well from our history classes, movies and books of our childhood was mind boggling. We had seen them all before, but nothing compared to viewing them in real life.

Egypt It was the trip that changed our lives. In 2008 we decided to become full time travelers and began our quest to fulfill our dreams by cycling Africa. Our start line was the Pyramids of Giza and we will never forget our fear and excitement as we paused at the Sphinx for one final look before our trip through the continent.

Sonasali, Fiji Fiji is a land of paradise. It s the playground of movie stars and the rich and famous. But we learned that it is also affordable and regular folks like us can visit its beautiful beaches. It was as breathtaking as we imagined and as welcoming as we expected from the friendly islanders that always greet you with a boisterous Bula! We enjoyed some great adventures in the middle of the South Pacific.

Hong Kong It s the most exciting city on earth. Each night the city of Hong Kong is lit up during a 10 minute light show. Watching from the banks of Kowloon, one can witness the most impressive skyline on earth explode with colour as beams of light radiate from its skyscrapers.

Cinque Terre, Italy Its what dreams are made of. The coastline of Italy is timeless. Villages cling to the side of cliffs and have remained unchanged over the decades. There is an energy in the Cinque Terre that makes everything just seem better. Whether it be the proud business owners or jovial locals, there is something that says Life s better when your Italian

Goa, India We ll never forget the most spectacular sunset we had ever seen. Each evening, people made a point of settling in on Patnem Beach to witness the sun go down over Goa. We never tired of watching Mother Nature s light show and we were thankful to walk away with this reminder of just how perfect each day was on this quiet stretch along India s Coast.

Bali, Indonesia Spiritual and beautiful, there is something magical that happens when visiting Bali. You fall in love with the land and its people. Home to most of Indonesia s Hindu minority, you will witness a devout and peaceful people in every aspect of life. Morning rituals and evening performances introduce you to their culture and its lush volcanic landscape is a sight to behold making you never want to leave this island paradise.

Petra, Jordan We ve seen many an ancient city during our travels, but none as impressive as the Nabatean Capital of Petra. It s monumental architecture carved into the sides of high cliffs will mesmerize even the most jaded of travellers. Once you enter the treasury from the 2km walk of the siq, your heart will skip a beat as you gaze on in awe of this ancient wonder.

Negril, Jamaica Jamaica was a surprise to us. Many a friend and family member has travelled extensively through the Caribbean and we wondered if there was anything different that Jamaica could offer. Indeed it did. With great adventures, sandy beaches and an impressive coastline, we can understand why it has been a first choice for vacationers traveling through the West Indies.

Kazakhstan We were camping in the middle of a field in Kazakhstan when Beket came upon us on horseback. He watched us for awhile as his trusty dog looked on from a distance. We couldn t speak each others language, but we enjoyed a short exchange and smiles while he curiously studied our every move. We must have made an impression because he was back the next morning to say goodbye.

Tonina, Mexico If you want to visit a quiet Mayan City in Mexico, Tonina in the state of Chiapas will fit the bill. We had the complex nearly to ourselves and our friendly guide put on a good tour. Here he posed for us pretending to be a bartender. Cerveza anyone?

Inle Lake, Myanmar All we wanted to see when visiting Inle Lake in Burma was the one legged rowers. We saw a lot of them, but it was the quiet fisherman that caught our attention as we paddled across a channel to have tea with a young girl and her grandmother.

Olgii, Mongolia Up until now, we had only camped in our tents through Mongolia. It was quite exciting to be staying in a Ger Camp once we reached Olgii. The temperature may have dropped outside, but we were cozy and warm in our traditional housing of the nomadic Mongolian people.

Dingboche, Nepal A couple of days before the final push to Mount Everest Base Camp, everyone stops at Dingboche. It was here that we did an acclimatization walk and were treated to this spectacular view of the Khumbu region of the Himalayas. Excitement was running high as we knew that we would reach our destination in two days time following in the footsteps of legendary climbers.

South Island, New Zealand New Zealand boasts some of the most diverse and striking scenery on earth. There is a reason that Peter Jackson chose it for the setting of Middle Earth, but nothing captures New Zealand like this scene filled with sheep grazing in front of a perfect glacier lake with rolling mountains and green pastures.

Machu Picchu, Peru How on earth did the Incas build this complex so high in the Andes? That is what is most fascinating to us regarding Machu Picchu. But what caught our eye the most was the guardians of the complex, the Alpacas that graze on the grounds. Dave walked right up to this little guy who seemed to get a kick out of being the star attraction for a change. Peru is a dream destination and Machu Picchu is it s shining star.

Paris, France It s the city of love and there is nothing more romantic than strolling the streets of Paris at night. Paris is filled with famous architecture and memorable monuments. Each street corner is like passing through a living museum. The buildings themselves are a work of art and one could lose themselves for days soaking in the culture and history of the city of lights.

Astrakhan, Russia It s the vacation getaway destination for Russians. This picturesque town on the Volga River is the perfect waterfront resort. People rollerblade on the boardwalk and street musicians entertain the tourists. We stepped away from the waterfront to explore the Ascension Cathedral in the Astrakhan Kremlin and this is what we ended up seeing. Astrakhan was a surprising retreat in southern Russia.

Toledo, Spain We were in Southern Spain when somebody told us that we have to make sure we make our way to the medieval town of Toledo located just outside of Madrid. Set in the fabled land of Don Quixote and home to the Knights of Templar, this is a place of legend. It is a town that has stood the test of time and while walking it s streets you will imagine that you are gliding through a fairy tale.

Ko Lipe, Thailand At the most southern tip of Thailand on the Malaysian border you will discover the quiet island of Kho Lipe. It s worth the long journey to this out of the way island to escape the mass tourists of Phuket or Phi Phi. Like all of the southern waters, you will witness the legendary long tail boats that have become synonymous to the country s identity.

Nungwi, Zanzibar Get yourself out of the hustle and bustle of Stone Town and make your way to Nungwi in the North of Zanzibar. This spice Island is beautiful. The turquoise water is the perfect contrast to its white sandy beaches. We remember walking down the beach one day and saying out loud This is truly paradise on earth.
