Johnson The Lay Delegate to the Conference represents the Church Family and provides feedback to the body on the status of the Greater New Jersey Conference, its ministry focus and on the encouragements and challenges set forth by Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar for the upcoming year. Church Council Chairperson Sis. Otelia Fletcher The Church Council Chairperson coordinates the business of the church by scheduling and Chairing monthly Administrative Board meeting to address issues, to review current activities and to plan new activities in conjunction with the various committees and organizations involved at John Wesley United Methodist Church. PASTOR PARISH RELATION COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON Sis. Donna M. Pearson The Pastor Parish Relations Committee is the administrative unit in the church where staff and congregational interests are integrated to focus on the mission of the church. The committee relates to all staff. The Committee has the functions of a Human Resources department in other organizations. Its primary responsibility is to work with staff so that the mission of the church is realized.
Nurture Chairperson Sis. Renee Reese The Nurturing Chairperson Ministries give attention to education, worship, Christian formation, membership cares, small groups and stewardship. Primary attention is focused on the needs of individuals and families of all ages. Outreach Chairperson Sis. Margaret Winchester Graw The Outreach Ministries of John Wesley United Methodist Church give attention to local and larger community ministries of compassion, justice and advocacy. These ministries include church and society, global ministries, higher education and campus ministry, health and welfare, Christian Unity and interreligious concerns, religion and race, and the status of women. Witness Chairperson Sis. Barbara Thompson The Witness Ministries coordinates to share personal congregational stories of Christian experiences, faith and service communications that give expressions of witness for Jesus Christ. A superintendent of the church school is responsible for helping to organize and supervise the total program for nurturing faith, building Christian community, and equipping people of all ages for ministry in daily life. Such lessons provide members with opportunities for practicing skills for faithful discipleship including but not limited to worship, faith sharing, the creation of new faith communities, spiritual discernment, Bible study, theological reflection, prayer, community building, service with the poor and marginalized, and advocacy for peace and justice. Otelia Fletcher, President The United Methodist Women of John Wesley United Church continue to be in mission by doing the Lord' work in our church, our community and throughout the world. We have earned the classification as a Five Star Unit by donating to the five areas of giving; the pledge to missions, special mission recognition by honoring a member in our unit, by giving a special thank you to someone; by making a donation in memory of someone and by contributing to the world thank you offering. Our members also volunteer with the Abundance of Food Ministry, supports the clothes give-a-way program, and by leading the call for Help For Haiti during the time of the earthquake by preparing and sending 67 health kits. Christian education ministries Sis. Constance L. Johnson John Wesley Christian Education Ministries recognizes that one of the great blessings of the church is children and that it is possible that in coming together as a whole body we will prepare both children and adults to serve as spiritually mature leaders, Therefore we continue to employ practical ways the church can fulfill the mandate of God to nurture children toward spiritual maturity and servant leadership though lessons such as Bible Study, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Educational Programs, and many, many Youth involved activities such as Plays, Praise Dance, Choirs, Bowling, Youth Fellowship, Trips, and Holiday activities. Leaders, Bro. Keith Feeney, Sunday School Superintendent, Sis. Barbara Thompson and Linda Feeney - Youth Directors, and Sis. Susan Gregory, and Sis. Adrienne Goldsboro, helpers, and many individuals, all continue to dedicate their time and love to provide programs for our Youth Choirs, and Praise Dancers and all the children that incorporate the Spirit and Character of our Savior. We recognize that Children's Worship is a vital tool our church needs to effectively evangelize our children and to help them express love and praise to the Lord.
United Methodist men United Methodist Men exists to declare the centrality of Christ in every man s life. Men s ministry leads to the spiritual growth of men and effective discipleship. This purpose is served as men are called to model the servant leadership of Jesus Christ, to Enhance Evangelism, Mission, and Spiritual Life (EMS), to advocate programs that train men within local churches to promote specific ministries including prayer, missions, stewardship, and civic/youth serving ministries. Plus, to forge pastoral partnerships by men committed to the effective support and service of clergy and local congregations and to enhance organizational strength through effective leadership, resources, membership growth, and financial accountability while assisting men in their everchanging relationships, roles, and responsibilities in the family setting, workplace, and society. Abundance of Blessings Sis. Phyllis S. Buck, President The mission of the John Wesley United Methodist Church Abundance of Blessings Food Ministry is to share the love of Jesus Christ by caring for the spiritual and practical needs of the community. The Ministry began in 2009 primarily to assist members, families, and friends of the church. By God s Blessing, and with the help of many dedicated volunteers, the Ministry quickly grew and now provides food and other needed items to close to100 families per month in the City of Bridgeton, New Jersey area. Funds come from the general budget of the church, and from outside donations. Eligible recipients include SSI recipients, households living at or beneath Federal Poverty Guidelines, Seniors, Medicaid recipients, and those who have recently lost a job. A spiritual blessings is provided, as Rev. Arthur preaches a mini sermon to the participants, and each is given a brochure, which includes the Pastor's testimony, mission and vision of John Wesley. The Ministry is on every third Saturday morning - 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
