Volunteers receive free tax training and are reimbursed on a limited basis for qualified program related expenses. They help taxpayers with a one on one basis at tax sites. It is a great way to learn new skills and to be involved in your community. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. You do not have to be an AARP member or a retiree to volunteer. You can be part of this dynamic team by calling 1 800 227 7669 or log on to www.aarp.org/taxaide. PHYSICIAN ASSISTED SUICIDE IS SUICIDE and suicide is always a tragedy. Some people consider physician assisted suicide a merciful way to help those who are near death. This November, Massachusetts voters will have to decide if doctors should be able to legally give adult patients who are terminally ill, a lethal prescription to end their lives. But is this mercy? Consider the words of Blessed John Paul II from his 1995 encyclical, Evangelium Vitae or the Gospel of Life: euthanasia must be called a false mercy, and indeed a disturbing perversion of mercy. True compassion leads to sharing another s pain; it does not kill the person whose suffering we cannot bear. The bishops in Massachusetts are urging Catholics to stand by and stand up for those who are terminally ill and their families by providing support, compassion and care, and by showing them they are not walking alone. ~~ BACK PAGE HUMOR & MORE ~~ "Dad, where did I come from?" asks this 10-years-old. The father was shocked that a 10 year old would be asking a question like that. He was hoping to wait a few more years before he would have to explain the facts of life, but he figured it was better a few years early than a few days too late, so, for the next two hours he explained every thing to his son. When he got finished, he asked his son what prompted his question to which his son replied, "I was talking to the new kid across the street and he said he came from Ohio, so I was just wondering where I came from."
