Pastoral leadership team: Pastor Will Sullivan, Senior Pastor Pastor John Newson, Executive Pastor Pastor Bailey Shaffer, Congregational Care Pastor Elder Ben Mertz, Small Groups & Discipleship Coordinator To change lives through the unchanging truth of God s love. Our History & Culture Endurance Church of the Valley is a non-denominational Christian Church located in Tempe, Arizona. ECV was birthed out of a church plant founded by ministry team members of previously named Desert Life Church, now IMPACT Church in Scottsdale, AZ. The young church plant closed in 2012, however, Pastor Will Sullivan and the leaders at ECV made the decision to continue with God s call to advance the kingdom, and Endurance Church of the Valley was birthed. Endurance Church is a dynamic, growing family of Christ-followers united in the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We re humbled that God has placed us in Tempe to join Jesus as He works in and through the lives of His people. Our mission is to be a highly effective, relevant, life-changing church. As in God s Word, we re called to equip the body of Christ, raise up leaders, and serve and love people. ECV is a multigenerational, multiethnic biblical community where people seek to know and love God, live in community with others and transform the world by serving our city as we believe Jesus desires. YOU are the reason we re here. OUR CHURCH seeks to be a comfortable place for those who are curious about God, but who sometimes don t feel comfortable in church. We hope this is where you can learn about who God is, and what He wants for your life. It s OK if you don t have it all figured out yet. This is the place where you can learn, apply and wrestle with who God is. We believe that church is an organized, living organism. We follow Jesus it s that simple. We live life together. We serve our community and one another. At ECV we are a diverse family of believers united by our common relationship with Jesus Christ. Regardless of where you are in your spiritual journey, we invite you to connect with our community. You won t find perfect people here. But you will discover excited and thriving groups bound together by a common purpose to see Jesus change lives and our city. We invite you to explore our website to find out more of what this means for us, and what it could mean for you. Visit www.endurancechurch.com to read our Belief Statement Page 1 of 6

Value and purpose of an ECV Ministry Team The purpose of our ECV ministry teams is to be Purposeful in Ministry. ECV s Ministry Teams: Start with the people and build the ministries around the vision for the church Are intentional and results oriented Are more dedicated to blending varying talents in trying to achieve their goals Consciously utilize their spiritual gifts and gifts of others to build the body Are not crippled by the departure of any one person, because of efficient systems of ministry Value the voice and presence of the team member and everyone has a specific responsibilities Ephesians 4:14-16 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow in becoming in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Has God placed on your heart the calling to launch a new ministry? (Church supported) Ministry mission statement and guidelines must be typed out and well-organized. Please state launch date, resources needed, duration and how the church can support you. Also, state what God has shared with you in regards to this ministry. After this is completed set up a meeting with pastoral staff member for review, guidance and prayer. After review, pastoral staff will meet together and set up meeting to discuss possible launch. Whether the ministry is approved through the church or not it might mean that your personal mission may not be the church s mission. We will encourage you along the way but we have to also protect the church s mission. Page 4 of 6
